Continuing with some positive notes, build quality and design are both very impressive. The full anodised aluminium chassis feels very premium and the fit and finish of the laptop is top tier. The very generously sized trackpad feels well made but does travel slightly more towards the bottom edge. The keyboard features good quality RGB back lighting which is uniform and bright. Sound quality from the built in speakers is excellent and offers a more bass rich experience than is usually found on laptop speakers. We'd be happy to recommend the Blade 16 as generally it is a high quality laptop – were it not for the clear thermal issues that have been detailed in this review. That drops performance significantly and is not good enough considering the £3600 asking price.

Having used it for the last few weeks, I’m leaning towards this Blade 16 being a good buy. I like some of the changes offered this year, particularly the 16:10 display and form factor, as well as the added thickness that supports a higher-wattage CPU and GPU, and allows the Blade to match the capabilities of other high-tier performance laptops, something it did not in the past. On the other hand, you'll have to be aware of the somewhat finicky oversized touchpad, as well as the hefty price that Razer are asking for this 2023 Blade 16 generation.

That’s about it on these 2023 Razer Blade updates. I’m intrigued by Razer’s approach for these generations, as they steered away from the thin-and-light segment of performance laptops where past Blades competed in, and moved the 2023 Blades into the realm of full-size laptops, with the increase in size and the implementation of higher power components. I’m looking forward to finding out how where these new Blades stand in rapport with the established competition in this new space. Look for our reviews in the weeks to come. And in the meantime, I’d love to hear your thoughts on these 2023 Razer Blade 16 and Razer Blade 18 models, so get in touch down below in the comments section.

Razer is no stranger to making high-performance gaming laptops. But with the arrival of 13th-gen CPUs from Intel and 40-series mobile GPUs from NVIDIA, it really feels like the company is trying to cram as much power as it possibly can in its new Blade 16 and Blade 18 notebooks.

We can't deny the Razer Blade 16's design appeal and objectively powerful performance. It's every bit a top-end Razer gaming laptop, with a build that feels luxe and looks sharp and a downright brilliant dual-mode display. This machine can play any game you throw at it on top settings. On the minus side, its price is hard to swallow, and its poor battery life seriously undermines its extra-portable design. Even in this high-end tier, where bargain prices rate far behind raw performance, you can readily find laptops that offer more power for less money. Of course, you don't need to splurge on the super-expensive configuration Razer sent us, but the Blade 16 isn't shy about charging a premium; the $2,699 starting price is an awful lot for a GeForce RTX 4060. If you're rolling in dough and value elegant design as highly as great gaming performance, the 16 is an undeniably wonderful laptop. For slightly saner gamers, the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 8 remains our recommendation and the Alienware m16 is another strong alternative.

No-one needs a Lamborghini in their garage. A humble hatchback will get to from A to B perfectly well – but if you can afford one, it’s an undeniably cool way to get around. This limited-run Razer Blade 16 is a similar deal: at a penny under $5000 it’s one of the priciest gaming laptops out there, but the performance on tap is monstrous, and the display puts many top-tier gaming monitors to shame. The bad news? Only 150 are being made, and they’ll all be sold in the US. But that’s the price you pay for pace-setting hardware and extreme exclusivity. Happily the regular Blade 16 has just as much oomph, and is also a little easier on the wallet, at $4300/£4400 when you buy direct from Razer. We’ve also spotted it for as low as £3800 from third-party retailers. You really can’t get faster while also staying so portable, and for some that’ll be absolutely worth the price of admission.

The Razer Blade 16 is very much a Razer laptop. It’s a device with all the signature looks that the range has become known for and it brings plenty of power along for the ride. However, the vanity does bring about some sacrifices, offering a lesser keyboard experience than rivals like the Asus ROG Strix Scar 16 and ROG Zephyrus M16. Immense power is also available at a lower price from the likes of the Medion Erazer Beast X40. This is a levelled-up Razer Blade though, with the Mini LED adding a further dose of luxury and the trimmed down bottom bezel enhancing the swish design of this understated gaming laptop. Bleeding edge technology never comes cheap, and the Razer Blade 16 is certainly proof of that. But its $4,300 price tag begins to look a bit more reasonable (less unreasonable?) when you consider the similarly configured MSI Titan GT 77 HX 13V costs $5,300—a cool grand more than the Blade 16. And while the Blade 16 was a step behind the MSI on most of our tests, it’s still one of the most powerful laptops we’ve ever tested while also boasting a better design. If you are going to spend this much on a gaming laptop, I’d argue it had better look the part in addition to acting the part. The Razer Blade 16 offers one of the coolest designs among gaming laptops. And the mini-LED, dual-mode display provides stellar performance and added versatility to help you digest the hefty price.

The Razer Blade 16 features one of the most unique laptop displays we’ve ever seen: It can switch between native 1080p and 4K modes. Coupled with Intel’s latest 13th-gen CPU and NVIDIA’s most powerful RTX 40-series GPUs, it’s also one of the most powerful machines in Razer’s lineup. But its high price ($3,300 with the dual-mode) display and added heft make it less practical than the tried and true Blade 15.

As I spent time with the Blade 16, I couldn’t help but ask myself: Is it really worth spending more for a dual-mode screen, when fast 1,440p laptops are becoming increasingly affordable? Personally, I think that resolution sits at a sweet spot between delivering more pixels than 1080p, but also achieving faster refresh rates than any 4K panel. For most people, a 1,440p laptop (like the Zephyrus G14) simply makes more sense – especially when you can find them for $1,000 (or more) less than the Blade 16. Given its added heft, as well as its higher $2,700 starting price (with an RTX 4060), I can't recommend the Blade 16 to most buyers – not when the Blade 15 is still around and starts at $2,000 with a 3070 Ti. If you want the 4060, be prepared to shell out another $500. And if you’re mainly intrigued by the dual-mode display on the Blade 16, that costs $3,300 with an RTX 4070. Honestly, that’s a ridiculously high price for a laptop with that GPU. Our review unit cost a whopping $4,300 with the Core i9-13950HX, RTX 4090, 32GB of RAM and a 2TB SSD. But, just like much of Apple’s hardware, the Razer tax may be something we have to pay for innovation. The Blade 16’s dual-mode screen is one of the most remarkable things I’ve seen in a gaming laptop lately – but for most shoppers, the Blade 15 will be far more practical.

Big, bold, beautiful and seriously expensive, the Razer Blade 16 is bursting at the seams with power. It’s got those stunning good looks you’ve come to expect from Razer with an all-metal chassis that stays surprisingly cool when gaming (at least for a gaming system). It’s also got a plethora of ports and a super comfortable keyboard, but the showstoppers are the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 GPU and Intel Core i9 processor, overclockable specs that make the Blade 16 a lean, mean gaming machine. And lest we forget the world’s first Dual-Mode panel. I know it’s easy to write something like this off as a chintzy gimmick. But if you’re a gamer looking for a super high-res panel with a high refresh rate or a content creator or consumer on the hunt for a gorgeous 4K screen with great color accuracy, you’re in the right place. With an in-app button toggle, you’re essentially getting two high-performance panels in one beautiful mini-LED screen. Could the switch be smoother? Sure, but hopefully Razer will address this in the next iteration. But as cool as the Razer Blade 16 is with all its extra bells and whistles, it’s also incredibly expensive. At $4,299, I expect to get the best of everything. The laptop was consistently bested by the ($5,299) MSI Titan GT77, which granted is $1,000 more. And that file transfer speed definitely leaves something to be desired. However, switching between gaming and content creation on the fly is your thing, the Razer Blade 16 definitely deserves a deeper dive.

With that nitpick aside, the Blade 16 is an incredibly impressive package. There’s really very little to criticize about it (which is, of course, the most important thing about this laptop). It’s hot, it’s loud, and it picks up fingerprints — which are, at this point, just things to expect when purchasing Razer Blades. It certainly delivers one of the best gaming experiences I’ve ever had on a laptop (which, it really should, considering the price). Still, this device is so far out of the stratosphere of most people’s budgets that it’s hard for me to be too excited about it. What I do hope is that lower-priced variants of these chips, as well as new features like DLSS 3, will bring great performance to price points that are a bit more… of this world. Largely, I’m taking this machine as confirmation that Nvidia did its job and that, as the RTX 4000 series starts to roll out, gaming will be more fun for everyone.

If you read through this entire article, it’s probably clear that we really like the Razer Blade 16. Thanks to its powerful hardware, premium build and materials, clean aesthetic, and relatively small form factor (versus other high-end gaming laptops), the new Razer Blade 16 is well suited to a wide array of users and workloads. With its GeForce RTX 4090, Core i9-13950GX, and bright, beautiful dual-mode display, the Razer Blade 16 can rip through games with aplomb, while being equally adept at taxing, content creations workloads. The Razer Blade 16 is available for pre-order now and will be available starting tomorrow. The configuration we tested here is currently being offered for $4,299. That is a premium price point for sure, but this machine also represents the pinnacle of mobile gaming at the moment. The systems packs NVIDIA’s most powerful mobile GPU, one of Intel’s top 13th Gen processors, and fast memory and storage, wrapped up in a premium chassis, that looks great in our opinion. The Razer Blade 16 is the total package; while not cheap, it has the power, performance, and design to help justify the price. If you’re shopping for a powerful, no-compromise gaming laptop and have the budget for a premium solution like the Razer Blade 16, this machine is easy to recommend.

The Razer Blade 16 is a handsome laptop with a unique mini-LED display that’s both versatile and attractive. It’s a solid all-around performer, scoring well in a variety of gaming and productivity benchmarks. Connectivity is a high point, with support for Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, two USB-C ports, and an SD card reader. It’s far from flawless, however. Razer needs to rethink the keyboard and touchpad, both of which are more finicky than those found on many competitors. Battery life is disappointing, as well. The real question is this: How much are you willing to pay for an awesome display and slick design? The Razer Blade I tested retails near $3,300, which is up to $1,000 more than an Alienware M16 with an RTX 4070 or the Asus ROG Strix 18 with a similar configuration. Whether the Blade 16 is worth its premium depends on your needs. Gamers who just want to play at high frame rates can find faster hardware for the price.

The search Razer Blade 16search Blade 16 is a laptop that actually has me divided, both emotionally and figuratively. On the one hand, it is, beyond a shadow of a doubt, one hell of an engineering marvel, and it still impresses me till this day how the brand has managed to maintain the status quo for its design. And despite the occasional heat-induced stuttering that plagues it, it’s still a solid performer that never fails to deliver. That isn’t to say that the Blade 16 is flawless or even blemish-free. For instance, the Dual Mode display, while an interesting feature, is really nothing more than a gimmick. Don’t get me wrong, I think the ability to change the resolution on its 16:10 aspect ratio display between Full HD+ and 4K+ while still retaining a high refresh rate is nice, but at the end of the day, 120Hz at the latter resolution is more than plenty. That being said, I’d stick to a static QHD+ (2560 x 1600) 240Hz display, an option that Razer also offers and at a slightly cheaper asking price, but that’s just my personal preference.

The Razer Blade 16 (2023) would just about be a perfect gaming laptop if it weren’t for its incredibly high price tag. It can run just about anything smoothly at max settings with an exception here or there (and even then, it’s just a bit of stuttering). Every facet is done well from the keyboard and trackpad to the screen. It’s just not anywhere close to affordable.

Razer sieht die Antwort ganz klar im Display: Das weltweit erste 16-Zoll-240-Hz-OLED made by Samsung, wirbt Razer. Ist das neue Display wirklich so gut und gibt es sonst noch Neuerungen? Wir testen.

It's easy to access the two SODIMM slots to upgrade the RAM and there are also a pair of M.2 slots. Though they are on top of each other, so you would need to ensure your second SSD is only single-sided. I tried dropping in a drive with memory chips front and back and it absolutely did not fit. In terms of the relative fan noise, the Razer does impressively well, too. You can crank up the Windows and Razer Synapse performance levels to get the ultimate frame rates out of this thing, and you will pay for it in noise, though it's pitched well enough to not be too intrusive. But even on the top performance setting, Synapse does allow you to balance out the fans, which makes a huge difference to the sound, doesn't overheat the GPU, and doesn't drop overall gaming performance by more than a few FPS here and there.

The Razer Blade 16 is a powerful gaming laptop that looks as good as it plays. It’s certainly an investment with a starting price of $2,999, but if you’re looking for a professional-looking desktop replacement you can travel with, this could be the perfect laptop for you. As this is a gaming laptop, not having an onboard AI processor likely won’t be a dealbreaker. The same is true for battery life as you will probably keep the Razer Blade 16 plugged in most of the time. If you do want to use it for working while out and about, you’ll just need to work a bit faster or bring the included fast charger. The Razer Blade 16 is an absolute powerhouse with a refined design that’s as comfortable to work on as it is to game on. If you have the budget for it, you won’t be disappointed with this gaming laptop.

The Razer Blade 16 (Early 2024) is an absolute beast of a machine, regardless of which configuration you pick up. Of course, our two test models were high-end, but even the base model gets you an Intel Core i9-14900HX and Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 GPU, which can keep up with any modern game. The Blade 16's major weaknesses are the same as those of any gaming laptop, including the price tag and low battery life. But even then, a low battery life is expected on a gaming machine. The only sticking point is the generation-over-generation difference in the Blade 16’s battery life. The difference between 5:29 and 4:41 in battery life is more of an annoyance than a problem. So, as long as you have the disposable income to afford the Razer Blade 16, buying any other 16-inch gaming laptop makes no sense.

The Razer Blade 16 (2024) carries on the good work started by last year’s version, with a slight bump in speeds and an amazing screen that’s going to make more sense to the majority of gamers. It’s compact, stylish and well-built, with more than enough 3D power to handle AAA games for years to come. However, the smaller dimensions and style come at a slight performance cost, and recent 18-inch rivals like the ROG Strix Scar 18 and Predator Helios 18 give you even more power for the same kind of budget. What’s more, we’re seeing a new breed of slimmer, lighter laptops like the ROG Zephyrus G16 that have a slightly larger footprint, but arguably beat the Blade 16 on looks and weight. This remains a fantastic gaming laptop, but there’s stiffer competition this year, especially at this kind of price. Check out our Best Gaming Laptop guide for even more options.

The Razer Blade 16 is an attractive and speedy gaming laptop with a slim footprint and good connectivity, but a few flaws soured my impression. Razer’s Mini-LED display was defective due to a firmware issue, and while I was sent a model with an excellent OLED display as a replacement, I was never sent a second Mini-LED display to test. The Blade 16 would also benefit from a better keyboard and additional battery life optimization. Razer’s mid-size laptop is a good choice if you want strong CPU and GPU performance in a sleek, attractive Windows laptop but, given the price, I’d expect a more consistent experience.

If you’re an enthusiast gamer with a hefty budget looking for a more portable solution, then the new Blade 16 will make you happy. Even the lowest possible entry cost is prohibitive to most shoppers; Razer has always had a premium associated with its brand, but the barrier to entry has grown quite high. The Blade 16 does, at least, provide a premium feel and experience for the price, with the top configurations pushing the expected level of power. Inclusions like the build materials, the slim power adapter, and others outlined above, are reasonable contributing factors, but it's expensive nonetheless. Powerful as it may be, it's not the top performer, either, and not quite meaningfully lighter or more mobile than some alternatives. For those with little concern for cost, the Lenovo Legion 9i Gen 8’s design isn’t quite as chic, but it’s just as thin and light, with notably better performance.

The Razer Blade 16 (2024) packs a couple of great upgrades, including the new 240Hz OLED screen for dazzling contrast, and the cutting-edge 14th Gen Intel chips. It’s not a huge leap forward then, but the comprehensive spec sheet still puts the Blade in a strong position as one of the leading gaming laptop options of the year.

On the audio front, Razer has increased the speaker array from four to six, which should result in improved sound quality, particularly when gaming and watching movies. The laptop retains the astonishingly good 240Hz OLED display as the older Blade 16, which we said in our review was one of the best OLED displays on a gaming laptop – the 2025 Blade 16’s display produces exceptional, vibrant colours. While the exact price of the Blade 16 has yet to be confirmed, we know it won’t be cheap. The model that we tested last year came with a GeForce RTX 4080 Laptop GPU and was priced at S$5,399 so it’s safe to assume the 2025 Blade 16 will sit at the higher end of the gaming laptop spectrum, especially given Razer’s premium positioning in the market.
