Details
Die Zotac GeForce GTX 1660 Ti ist eine Mid-Range-Grafikkarte und bietet 1.536 Shadereinheiten und 6-GB-GDDR6-VRAM. Damit eignet sich diese Grafikkarte für Spieler, welche vorrangig in 1.080p spielen. Mit nur 17,3 Zentimetern ist die Grafikkarte von Zotac sehr kurz und eignet sich auch für sehr kompakte Gehäuse. Bei den technischen Daten bleibt Zotac mit der GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Twin Fan bei den Vorgaben von Nvidia und übertaktet dieses Modell nicht. Somit bleibt es bei maximal 1.770 MHz Boost-Takt, wenngleich andere Modelle der GTX 1660 Ti mit über 1.800 MHz im Boost betrieben werden können.
Für externe Geräte bietet die Zotac GeForce GTX 1660 Ti dreimal Displayport (1.4) und einmal HDMI (2.0b). Den Strombedarf der Grafikkarte übernehmen intern neben dem PCI-E-Steckplatz noch ein zusätzlicher 8-Pin-Stromanschluss.

Das Testsystem - Ryzen 7 2700X als Basis
Als Testsystem dient eine aktuelle AMD-Plattform auf Basis des Gigabyte X470 Aorus Gaming 7 WiFi. Die CPU, ein AMD RYZEN 7 2700X, bietet eine gute CPU-Leistung und als Kühlung nutzen wir eine AIO (Be Quiet Silent Loop 280mm). Der 16-GB-Arbeitsspeicher stammt von G-Skill und taktet mit 3.400 MHz. Der Acer Predator XB321HK schränkt uns aufgrund der UHD-Tauglichkeit nicht ein. Ein großer Dank geht an dieser Stelle an AMD für die Bereitstellung der Testplattform.

Die Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti im Detail
Die Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti ist eine schnelle Mittelklasse-Grafikkarte für Desktops und basiert auf der Turing-Architektur. Die GTX 1660 Ti verwendet den TU116 Chip mit 1.536 Shader-Kernen, 48 ROPs, 96 TMUs und einem 192 Bit Speicherbus für 6 GB GDDR6 (6 GHz Taktrate, 12 GHz effektiv führen zu 288 GB/s). Die gleich benannte Notebook-Version der GTX 1660 Ti ist aufgrund der geringeren TDP ca. 10 bis 20 Prozent langsamer.
Features
Der TU116-Chip wird ebenfalls, wie ach die anderen Turing-GPUs, in 12nm gefertigt. Allerdings bietet die GeForce GTX 1660 Ti nicht die neuen Features, wie DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) und Real Time Ray Tracing. Trotzdem gab es im Bereich der Architektur Verbesserungen, wie Zum Beispiel bei den Float und INT Operationen. Diese können nun gleichzeitig ausgeführt werden und der Cache wurde vereinheitlicht Adaptive Shading eingeführt. Weiterhin gibt es Support für DisplayPort 1.4 (ready), HDMI 2.0b, HDR, Simultaneous Multi-Projection (SMP) sowie H.265 Video De- und Encoding (PlayReady 3.0).
Performance
Die Performance der GeForce GTX 1660 Ti ist in Full HD und maximalen Detailstufe etwas schlechter als eine GeForce GTX 1070, aber wiederum etwas besser als eine GeForce GTX 1060. Dadurch eignet sie sich bei anspruchsvollen Spielen am besten für 1.080p mit vollen Details bzw. 1.440p bei weniger anspruchsvollen Spielen.
Leistungsaufnahme
Die Leistungsaufnahme der GeForce GTX 1660 Ti wird vom Hersteller mit 120 Watt beziffert und liegt damit auf dem gleichen Niveau der älteren GeForce GTX 1060.

Die Taktraten der Zotac GeForce GTX 1660 Ti
Bei den Taktraten der Zotac GeForce GTX 1660 Ti bleibt Zotac bei den Vorgaben von Nvidia und taktet die GPU mit einem Basistakt von 1.500 MHz. Im Boost kann die GTX 1660 Ti maximal 1.770 MHz erreichen und auch beim VRAM bleibt Zotac seiner Linie treu. Dieser arbeitet mit effektiv 12 GHz und stammt bei unserem Testsample von Micron.
Synthetische Benchmarks
Die Ergebnisse der synthetischen Benchmarks zeigen schonmal, wo die GeForce GTX 1660 Ti einzusortieren ist. Im Grunde schließt diese Karte die Lücke zwischen der GeForce GTX 1060 und der GeFroce GTX 1070. An die GeForce RTX 2060 kommt unser Testsample nicht heran, denn diese ist nochmals schneller als die GTX 1070. Verglichen mit AMD rangiert die GTX 1660 Ti auf dem Niveau einer Radeon RX 590. An die Radeon-RX-Vega-Karten reicht die GTX 1660 Ti nicht heran.

Spiele-Benchmarks
Bei unseren Spiele-Tests machte die Zotac GeForce GTX 1660 Ti im Vergleich zu den synthetischen Benchmarks eine deutlich bessere Figur. Der Abstand zur Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 ist deutlich größer und der Abstand zur GeForce GTX 1070 konnte etwas verringert werden. In einigen Spielen schafft es die Zotac GeForce GTX 1660 Ti, sich sogar vor der GTX 1070 zu platzieren. AMD reiht sich mit den beiden Karten RX 580 und RX 590 ca. 10 Prozent hinter der GTX 1660 Ti ein. Aber auch hier ist es von Spiel zu Spiel sehr unterschiedlich. Die AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 ist in den meisten Spielen schneller und duelliert sich mit der GeForce RTX 2060.
Insgesamt liefert die Zotac GeForce GTX 1660 Ti eine ordentliche Spiele-Leistung und alle aktuellen Games können in 1.080p mit maximalen Details flüssig dargestellt werden. Etwas ältere und nicht so leistungshungrige Spiele wie Fifa 19 oder Overwatch lassen sich auch sehr gut in UHD genießen.
Beim Blick auf den Frameverlauf, welchen wir mit The Witcher 3 (Ultra-Preset) aufgezeichnet haben, zeigt sich, dass die Kühleinheit der Zotac GeForce GTX 1660 Ti mit der Abwärme sehr gut zurechtkommt. Längere Spielesessions meistert die Karte problemlos und ohne Leistungseinbußen. Mit durchschnittlich 62 FPS ist ruckelfreies Spielen garantiert und auch die Frametimes zeigen bis auf einen Ausreißer keine Auffälligkeiten.

Compute-Performance
Die Turing-Architektur zeigt auch bei der Compute Performance, dass die Änderungen im Vergleich zur Pascal-Generation nicht zu vernachlässigen sind. Die Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 wird immer geschlagen und auch die GeForce GTX 1070 hat es stellenweise schwer, sich gegen die Zotac GeForce GTX 1660 Ti zu behaupten. An der Spitze haben wir wieder das unveränderte Bild mit der GeForce RTX 2060 vor der Radeon RX Vega 56.

Emissionen der Zotac GeForce GTX 1660 Ti
Bei den Verbrauchswerten hat sich im Vergleich zur GeForce GTX 1060 nicht viel verändert, denn auch die GeForce GTX 1660 Ti besitzt eine TDP von 120 Watt. Allerdings ist die GeForce GTX 1660 Ti im Vergleich zur GTX 1060 durchweg schneller, was eine deutlich verbesserte Performance pro Watt bedeutet.
Im Leerlauf verbraucht unser Testsystem gerade einmal 68 Watt und beim Stresstest klettert der Durchschnittsverbrauch auf 233 Watt. In Spitzen messen wir zwischenzeitlich bis zu 250 Watt, was aber nicht allein auf die GPU zurückzuführen ist. Das Power-Target (PT) lässt sich bei der Zotac GeForce GTX 1660 Ti um bis zu zehn Prozent erhöhen. Damit stehen der GPU allein bis zu 132 Watt unter Last zur Verfügung. Genau diese Differenz zeigte sich auch beim Stresstest mit dem PT von 110 Prozent, denn der Verbrauch des Systems lag bei 247 Watt im Durchschnitt.
Für den Stromverbrauch beim Spielen nutzen wir The Witcher 3 im Ultra-Preset. Hier notieren wir mit 235 Watt einen ähnlichen Wert wie zuvor beim Stresstest (PT 100 Prozent). Im Vergleich zu den anderen GPU’s in der Tabelle verbraucht unsere Zotac-Karte am wenigsten. Mit 243 Watt ist die GeForce GTX 1070 zwar dicht an unserem Sample dran, allerdings muss hier der etwas sparsamere Prozessor berücksichtigt werden.
In puncto Temperatur ist bei der Zotac GeForce GTX 1660 Ti alles im grünen Bereich. Unter Last erhitzte sich die Karte auf maximal 74 °C (mit PT 110 Prozent). Im Standardbetrieb mit PT 100 Prozent waren es sogar nur 72 °C. Dabei arbeiteten die beiden Lüfter mit ca. 1.550 Umdrehungen relativ leise und sind somit auch kaum zu hören. Mit dem lästigen Spulenfiepen hatte unser Sample von Zotac keine Schwierigkeiten.

Overclocking - 5–7 Prozent sind noch drin
Durch manuelles Übertakten lässt sich oftmals noch etwas mehr Leistung aus den Komponenten quetschen. So auch bei der GeForce GTX 1660 Ti von Zotac. Um etwas mehr Spielraum zu bekommen, erhöhten wir das PT von 100 auf 110 Prozent, wodurch der GPU nun maximal 132 Watt an Leistungsaufnahme zur Verfügung stehen.
Unser Testmuster ließ sich beim GPU-Takt um 100 MHz und beim VRAM um 800 MHz übertakten. Daraus resultiert eine deutlich höhere Speicherbandbreite (326,4 GB/s) und ein maximaler Boost-Takt von bis zu 1.870 MHz.
Im Test konnte die höhere Leistung auch abgerufen werden und die Ergebnisse fielen ca. 5–7 Prozent besser aus, im Vergleich zum Standardbetrieb.
Da es sich bei der Zotac GeForce GTX 1660 Ti um keine bereits ab Werk übertaktete Grafikkarte handelt, ist das Ergebnis gut. Allerdings ist die Luft nach oben durch das maximale PT begrenzt, sodass hier die jeweiligen Bordpartner teilweise unterschiedliche Maximalwerte liefern. Bei einer bereits ab Werk übertakteten GTX 1660 Ti könnte der Overclocking-Spielraum somit deutlich geringer ausfallen.

Fazit - Gute Mittelklasse GPU
Nachdem Launch der Turing-Grafikkarten verabschieden sich so nach und nach die Pascal-Grafikkarten vom Markt. Nun hat Nvidia mit der GeForce GTX 1660 Ti einen Turing-Ableger ohne RT- sowie Tensor-Cores vorgestellt. Auch DLSS unterstützt die GTX 1660 Ti nicht, denn hier macht Nvidia einen klaren Schnitt zwischen der GTX- und der RTX-Serie. Von unserem Partner Zotac haben wir ein Sample der GeForce GTX 1660 Ti erhalten, denn Nvidia selbst stellt keine eigenen Versionen der Karte in Form einer Founders Edition her.
Zum Testzeitpunkt geht das Testsample für knapp 280 Euro über die virtuelle Ladentheke und ist somit genauso teuer wie eine GeForce GTX 1070, wenn sie denn noch zu bekommen ist. Natürlich reden wir an dieser Stelle von Neuware, denn gebrauchte Grafikkarten gibt es bei eBay und Co. zur Genüge und Schnäppchenpreise können wir hier nicht als Maßstab nehmen.
Rein leistungstechnisch rangiert die Zotac GeForce GTX 1660 Ti genau zwischen einer GTX 1060 und einer GTX 1070, wenngleich die GTX 1660 Ti mit 6-GB-VRAM im Vergleich zur GTX 1070 das Nachsehen hat. Im Test entstand der GTX 1660 Ti daraus jedoch kein spürbarer Nachteil, denn für 1.080p reichen derzeit die 6-GB-VRAM noch aus.
Bei den Grafikkarten bis 300 Euro bietet die Zotac GeForce GTX 1660 eine tolle Gaming-Leistung und ist momentan in diesem Preissegment einfach konkurrenzlos.
Gefallen hat uns der Gesamteindruck aus Leistung und Energieverbrauch, denn hier ist die GTX 1660 Ti gegenüber der GTX 1070 etwas besser aufgestellt. Damit stehen die Chancen auf dem Grafikkartenmarkt bis 300 Euro gar nicht mal so schlecht für die GTX 1660 Ti. Zwar sind die AMD Karten RX 580, RX 590 sowie auch die Vega 56 derzeit deutlich im Preis gefallen und teilweise auch günstiger als eine GTX 1660 Ti, aber die RX 580 und auch die RX 590 kommen leistungstechnisch nicht an die GTX 1660 Ti heran. Einzig die Radeon RX Vega 56 schafft es, die GeForce GTX 1660 Ti zu übertreffen, benötigt aber im Umkehrschluss deutlich mehr Energie.
Eine Kaufempfehlung gibt es für die preiswerte GeForce GTX 1660 Ti für deutlich unter 300 Euro. Wer eine ab Werk übertaktete Karte für über 300 Euro in Betracht zieht, kann auch gleich zu einer RTX 2060 greifen. Diese rechnet rund 20–25 Prozent schneller. Für die Besitzer einer GeForce GTX 1070 ist der Wechsel auf eine GeForce GTX 1660 Ti absolut nicht sinnvoll.
Falls doch eine Neuanschaffung geplant ist, kann sich die Wahl der Turing-GPU durchaus bezahlt machen, denn unterm Strich sollte die Turing-Architektur bei neueren Spielen besser sein, als bei den auf Pascal basierenden Karten.
