While some will still be tempted by the possibilities of dual-booting Android and Windows on one tablet, wise buyers should probably pass up the Viewsonic ViewPad 10. The Apple iPad is still the standard by which all tablets are measured, and the ViewPad 10 falls pretty short. Thanks to an awkward collection of hits and misses, this tablet would probably be more attractive with a smaller price tag, competing against the Cherrypal CherryPad ($188 direct, 2 stars) and other low-end competitors.

At £425, the ViewPad 10 is £26 more than an iPad 2, is heavier, with less than half the battery life and has an awkward dual-booting system. It may provide an opportunity for businesses to keep using their Windows software while exploring Android. Most consumers will probably want to look elsewhere though.

The ViewSonic ViewPad 10 is a decent device that requires a lot of tweaking and work on it before it can be taken seriously. Priced at Rs. 38,000, it goes head on against a similarly priced Apple iPad. It’s possible to get an 64GB Apple iPad in the grey market. The iPad in comparison is a much more refined product as a whole. The ViewPad 10 would be recommended if it were priced at a more wallet-friendly Rs. 25,000 for example. The glaring issues with the device could then be ignored.

We're not overly impressed by the ViewPad 10. Not so much because of the hardware - which is decent, if not outstanding - but because Windows 7 in touch mode on a small screen is a big disappointment. We were surprised to find the Android experience much more compelling, despite its limitations. With a more tablet-oriented version of Android, the ViewPad 10 might be a different story altogether. But for now, at this price it's going to struggle to attract buyers away from the iPad

Pricing is intriguing. At £499 MSRP, it is (shock, horror) more expensive than the Wi-Fi only iPad. However, while its build quality and screen might not be up to the same standard, it does offer a boatload more features and options, which cost a lot of extra money on Apple's tablet – if they're available at all. Also, the fact that you can actually use this ViewPad as your main PC (if you're a light user, and when hooked up to a monitor, mouse and keyboard) does give it a significant advantage. Nonetheless, at that price we still think it's too much.

The end result is a tablet that only really feels comfortable browsing the web and watching video, and then accepting that crashes are more frequent than they should be in these areas and the screen could be better. For some that might be acceptable, but despite being asked to pay a little more than you might elsewhere, there is seemingly little to get excited about. The ViewSonic ViewPad 10s, overall, isn’t particularly stable as a software build and the feel of the tablet in the hand isn’t that good either, making it difficult to recommend.

The ViewSonic ViewPad 10s doesn't come across as a tablet catastrophe, but decent internal specs simply can't match up to an experience with cut corners and a lack of optimised software. It doesn't stand up as a budget machine against the likes of the Advent Vega just below it in price or original iPad just above it (while it lasts), and in terms of overall experience it's just not even fit to gaze upon the iPad 2 or Motorola Xoom.

The device has a single camera - the front one, with a resolution of 1.3 MP. Personally, we find this decision to be a very clever one; dropping the back, high-quality camera reduces the price significantly, whereas you wouldn’t be able to hold a 10” device still enough to take a photo anyway. As far as software is concerned, as we’ve already mentioned, you’ll have Android Market at disposal to fulfil the otherwise rather poorly equipped device - a few games, office tools that are in “Lite” versions, a mini photo-editor that can do the most usual of tasks (such as cropping) and Flash player is all that you get out-of-the-box. Yes, you’ve noticed well, despite our attempt to distract you - this device has full Flash 10.1 support.

Though it does introduce a few improvements to the ViewPad line, like the use of Swype and BlueStacks, and a revamped physical control set, the ViewSonic ViewPad 10pro is still a bit of a disappointment. For the business user, the difficulties of an unresponsive touch screen and limited storage space will not only cause frustration, they may hurt the bottom line. A smarter buy would be the Fujitsu Stylistic Q550, which offers similar performance, but a better user experience, along with a swappable longer-lasting battery.

Even those few users who might benefit from having Windows 7 and Android on the same device will find some serious problems with the ViewSonic ViewPad 10Pro. Android runs too slowly to be useful and apps didn't install. The screen is also too dark. Overall, this is a tablet we can't recommend.

ViewSonic hypes the ViewPad 10e as a high-performance entertainment tablet but this simply wasn't our experience. Plasticky build quality should be expected for a cheap device although the ViewPad 10e does have a good screen and some useful connectivity. Ultimately it falls down on performance. We’d suggest it's not worth spending £199 to be constantly frustrated by an unresponsive experience.

As it stands the Viewsonic ViewPad 10e is a rather impressive large screen tablet with an attractive price tag. There are a few rough edges, like the absence of the Android Market and mediocre battery life, but nowhere near as many or as serious as I’ve encountered on other budget tablets. Battery life aside, its other shortcomings can be easily dealt with or should be eliminated by the imminent ICS update that it's due.

A great screen, slimline design and non-widescreen aspect instantly had us interested in ViewSonic's latest tablet, but these neat features are drowned-out by the laggy, outdated, buggy software. It also lacks Android Market support and Google's roster of apps. Some of its specs impress at the price, but as the tablet market develops, £199 is starting to not look all that cheap for a device like this.

But if all this sounds overly negative, just remind yourself that the ViewPad 10e is a 9.7in tablet that costs half as much as an iPad 2. No, it won’t have the power or features of a tablet at twice the price, but it’s thin and light, with a decent screen and good connectivity, and it handles basic tasks perfectly well. That’s more than we can say for an awful lot of budget tablets.

B. Intel Core Architekture oder AMD Turion) "out of Order" sondern "in Order" ausgeführt werden.
