With its fast performance and low price, the Sony VAIO T13 makes a strong argument not only for itself but for the two ultrabook categories we mentioned in the beginning—models with "Ivy Bridge" processors and with hybrid hard drive/SSD storage systems. We think the former will soon be indispensable, though the latter will always yield to pure SSDs for speed. The T13 also yields to the HP Folio 13-1020us for battery life and keyboard comfort, though at $100 cheaper, it came close to unseating the HP as our ultrabook Editors' Choice.

Good looks, fast performance and long battery life are the standout features of the Sony VAIO T Series (SVT13116FGS). However, it's an Ultrabook that could use a bit of refining: we'd like a better keyboard, dual-band Wi-Fi, a matte screen and a USB port on the right side. That said, it's still worth checking out this Ultrabook if lots of CPU speed in a thin chassis is what you're after.

The Sony VAIO T13 (SVT13114GXS) comes across as a decent, though not particularly exceptional system in any of the usual criteria. It's got good battery life, though not as good as rivals. It has decent performance, though the hybrid drive design will make you wait a tick here and there. It's nicely styled, if a little commonplace these days and a smidge heavy. It's nice, but systems like the Editors' Choice Toshiba Portege Z935-P300 are much better in terms of features and performance, for only a few more dollars.

Sony: Die Sony Corporation ist einer der größten japanischen Elektronikkonzerne. Das Unternehmen wurde 1946 unter anderem Namen gegründet und produzierte anfangs Reiskocher. Das Unternehmen brachte das erste Transistorenradio auf den Markt. 1958 wurde die Firma in Sony umbenannt. Sony ist eine Kombination aus dem lateinischen Wort sonus (Klang) und dem englischen Wort sonny (kleiner Junge). Kerngeschäft ist heute die Unterhaltungselektronik. Das Unternehmen befasst sich mit der Entwicklung, dem Design, der Herstellung und dem Verkauf von elektronischen Geräten, Instrumenten, Vorrichtungen, Spielkonsolen und Software. Sony ist in den folgenden Segmenten tätig: Spiel- und Netzwerkdienste, Musik, Bilder, Home Entertainment und Sound, Imaging-Produkte und -Lösungen, mobile Kommunikation, Halbleiter, Finanzdienstleistungen und andere.
Diese Karten können nur sehr alte und sehr anspruchslose 3D Spiele flüssig darstellen. Anwendungen wie Office, Internet surfen, Bildbearbeitung oder (SD) Videoschnitt sind jedoch ohne große Einschränkungen möglich.
Intel HD Graphics 3000: In Sandy Bridge Prozessoren (Core ix-2xxx) integrierte Grafikkarte von Intel. Stärkere GT2 genannte Version mit 12 Execution Units (EUs). Je nach Modell mit unterschiedlichen Taktraten (350-650MHz) und TurboBoost Unterstützung (900-1350MHz).
Einige nicht anspruchsvolle aktuelle Spiele können mit geringen Details noch flüssig gespielt werden. Für Office und Video natürlich ausreichende Leistungsreserven.
Intel HD Graphics 4000: In Ivy Bridge Prozessoren (3. Generation Core) integrierte Grafikkarte in höchster Ausbaustufe. Je nach Prozessor (ULV bis Desktop Quad-Core) unterschiedlich getaktet.
Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M: Nachfolger der GeForce GTX 460M basierend auf einen voll ausgebauten GF116. Die Leistung liegt aufgrund der höheren Taktung etwas oberhalb der GTX 460M, durch die Chipverbesserungen dürfte der Stromverbrauch jedoch nicht steigen.

2367M: Stromspar-Doppelkernprozessor mit nur 1.4 GHz Basisfrequenz und ohne Turbo Boost. Integriert die Intel HD Graphics 3000 (jedoch nur mit 350 - 1000 MHz Taktung) und einen DDR3-1333 Speicherkontroller.
Intel Core i5:
3317U:
Stromspar-Doppelkernprozessor mit nur 1.7 GHz Basisfrequenz aber einem Turbo bis zu 2.6 GHz (bei ausreichender Kühlung). Integriert die Intel HD Graphics 4000 (jedoch nur mit 350 - 1050 MHz Taktung) und einen DDR3-1600 Speicherkontroller.
Intel Core i7:
3517U:
Stromspar-Doppelkernprozessor mit nur 1.9 GHz Basisfrequenz aber einem Turbo bis zu 3.0 GHz (bei ausreichender Kühlung). Integriert die Intel HD Graphics 4000 (jedoch nur mit 350 - 1150 MHz Taktung) und einen DDR3-1600 Speicherkontroller.

Most smartphones and only a few tablets fall into this weight category. Only a few smartphones are heavier and should rather be considered tablets.

73.95%: Diese Bewertung ist schlecht. Locker drei Viertel der Modelle werden besser beurteilt. Das ist eher keine Kaufempfehlung. Auch wenn Verbalbewertungen in diesem Bereich gar nicht so schlecht klingen ("genügend" oder "befriedigend"), meist sind es Euphemismen, die eine Klassifikation als unterdurchschnittliches Notebook verschleiern.
