Vielschreiber werden Gefallen an den großen und hochwertigen Tasten finden, die bezüglich des Komforts viele Netbook-Mitstreiter abhängen. Das Touchpad mit den integrierten Klicktasten ist aber nicht Jedermanns Sache. Das dürfte auch für das Design gelten.

Das Gerät überzeugt durch seinen guten Akku, die nahezu perfekte Tastatur und einem guten Preis von 320 Euro. Auf dem zweiten Platz landet der MSI Wind U135 aufgrund seines guten Bildschirms. Den dritten Podiumsplatz konnte der Asus EeePC 1005PE ergattern - für eine bessere Platzierung fällt der Bildschirm zu dunkel aus. Den vierten Platz sichert sich Dell mit dem Mini 10.

Der spiegelnde Bildschirm wird allerdings, trotz großer Helligkeit, die Freude unterwegs im Freien mit diesem Gerät zu arbeiten etwas trüben. Der Fokus beim Entwurf lag auf Energie-Sparsamkeit. Dafür ist auch kein Lüfter notwendig und das Gerät arbeitet nahezu lautlos. Allerdings muss man in Bezug auf Leistung Abstriche hinnehmen. Für anspruchslose Office Arbeit und Internetanwendungen reicht diese aber alle mal.

Die Note „Sehr Gut“ verdient sich der Mini hauptsächlich aufgrund der guten Akkulaufzeit von 423 Minuten, dem geringen Gewicht von 1,3 Kilo sowie dem leucht- und kontraststarken Display. Auch im Bereich Verarbeitung leistet sich der 10-Zoller kaum Schwächen. Der vorhandene HDMI-Anschluss ist eine echte Rarität bei den Netbooks. Beim Abspielen von HD-Videos gerät der Intel Atom Z530 allerdings ins Straucheln.

It's so unusable that we're simply astounded it's still there - we complained about it when the original Mini 10 arrived, and never imagined it would be the one part of the chassis that didn't get updated. That's a shame, as the rest of the Mini 10 is rather alluring. Its design is eye-catching, the battery life outstanding, and the media accelerator makes a decent fist of playing HD content. If Dell had opted for the most uninteresting of touchpads, the Inspiron Mini 10 may have earned our recommendation. Instead, it goes down as one of the most frustrating netbooks we've had the displeasure of testing.

Now there’s an updated version in the form of the 10in Mini 10. Although it’s nicely expandable, the basic Mini 10 is expensive for what it contains and the battery life is unimpressive.

Dell, the name that brought us some serious quality products over the years sent us a netbook from their Inpsiron Mini series. It’s small, it’s cute, and it's Atom-based. At a price of Rs. 19,000, it's quite reasonable, and it performs like any other netbook on the current market. But the touch pad has serious issues. The screen and build of externals is very good. Battery life is really good. All in all this one is a definite 4 on 5.

Perhaps the only thing missing on this netbook that I’d like to have is Bluetooth, but at $211 the lack of Bluetooth wasn’t enough to prevent me from purchasing. Unlike the others that found their way to eBay, I’m certain that the 10v will have a long life in my household for years to come. I don’t rescind my previous argument that the MacBook Pro is all I need. Netbooks are still underpowered, largely overpriced, and quickly obsolete, but who wouldn’t grab one of these for $211?

The Mini 10v takes the netbook back to its Small, Cheap Computer ideal and the end product is difficult to seriously criticise - the rather dowdy styling, silly SD card slot design and crippled out-of-the-box Linux OS notwithstanding. Of course, the first is a matter of personal taste while the last can be fixed by a quick Ubuntu upgrade so that only really leaves the rather dozy SD card slot and that's really not a reason to not buy one.

Das Gehäuse und die Verarbeitung sind vom Inspiron Mini 1012 bekannt und können durch eine gute Qualität sowie ein besonderes Design überzeugen. Der Schnittstellenumfang wurde leider reduziert, der dritte USB-Port und der Mikrofoneingang wurden eingespart.

Dell: Dell ist ein 1984 gegründeter US-amerikanischer Hersteller (Sitz Texas) von Computer-Hardware und gehört zu den grössten internationalen Herstellern sowohl in Bezug auf Marktanteile als auch hinsichtlich Notebook-Modellen. Die Produktpalette umfasst unter anderem Desktops, Notebooks, Speichersysteme, Monitore, Server, Drucker, Unterhaltungselektronik und Peripheriegeräte. Dell bietet Laptops an, die ich für verschiedene Einsatzbereiche eignen, z. B. Business-Laptops, Gaming-Laptops, Ultra-Portables und Workstations. Die Business-Notebooks von Dell aus den Latitude- und Precision-Serien sind eine Option für professionelle Anwender und Unternehmen.
2023 hatte Dell einen ungefähren Marktanteil von 17% am weltweiten PC-Absatz und war damit die Nummer 3 nach Lenovo und HP.
Für Gaming-Enthusiasten ist die Marke Alienware von Dell für Gaming-Notebooks vorgesehen.
3D Spiele sind auf diesen Vertretern nur in Ausnahmen spielbar, grundsätzlich sind die Grafiklösungen hierfür jedoch nicht geeignet. Office Programme und Internet surfen dürfte jedoch ohne Problem möglich sein.
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 500: Integrierter (onboard) Grafikchip auf UL11L, US15L, US15W Chipsatz mit lizensiertem PowerVR SGX 535 Kern. Trotz DirectX 10.1 Unterstützung durch die geringen Taktraten (100-200 MHz je nach UL11L - US15L/W) nicht spielfähig. Integrierter Video Decoder für MPEG-2, VC-1, AVC.
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 950: Integrierter (onboard) Grafikchip auf Mobile Intel 945GM/C/Z/ME/ML Chipsätzen und Nachfolger des GMA 900. Kein Hardware T&L (für manche Spiele benötigt). Für Spiele kaum geeignet.
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 3150: Integrierte (shared memory) Grafikkarte welche im Prozessor Intel Atom N4xx integriert ist. Basiert laut Intel auf einen "optimierten" X3100 Kern, ist jedoch nur minimal schneller als der alte GMA 950. Daher für HD Videos und 3D Spiele nicht geeignet.

Intel Atom: Die Intel Atom Serie besteht aus 64-Bit Mikroprozessoren für günstige und stromsparende Notebooks, MIDs oder UMPC. Besonderheit der Architektur, ist das die Befehle nicht wie derzeit üblich (z. B. Intel Core Architekture oder AMD Turion) "out of Order" sondern "in Order" ausgeführt werden. Dadurch verliert man zwar einiges an Performance, jedoch spart dies Transistoren und daher Kosten und dadurch auch etwas Strom.
Z530: Stromsparende Variante des N270 mit Virtualization Support. Die Performance ist identisch zum N270 und daher nur für Netbooks ausreichend.
N270: Stromsparende und billige CPU mit schwacher Leistung und geringem Stromverbrauch. Durch die in-order Ausführung der Befehle langsamer als gleichgetaktete Pentium M / Core Solo / Celeron M.
N450: Intel Atom CPU für Netbooks mit integriertem DDR2 Speichercontroller und GMA 3150 Grafik. Die Leistung ist nur etwas besser eine Kombination aus N270 / GMA950, jedoch ist der gesamte Stromverbrauch deutlich besser. Die Leistung ist daher immer nur vergleichbar mit einem alten 1.2 GHz Pentium 3M.
Z520: Sparsamer Einkernprozessor, der dank Hyperthreading zwei Threads gleichzeitig berbeiten kann.
N455: Intel Atom CPU für Netbooks mit integriertem DDR2 / DDR3 Speichercontroller (als Unterschied zum sonst identischen N450) und GMA 3150 Grafik. Die Gesamtleistung sollte dank des DDR3 Hauptspeicher nur minimal über einem N450 liegen und daher immer noch auf dem Level N270 / GMA950.

72.77%: Diese Bewertung ist schlecht. Locker drei Viertel der Modelle werden besser beurteilt. Das ist eher keine Kaufempfehlung. Auch wenn Verbalbewertungen in diesem Bereich gar nicht so schlecht klingen ("genügend" oder "befriedigend"), meist sind es Euphemismen, die eine Klassifikation als unterdurchschnittliches Notebook verschleiern.
