Alienware 13
Alienware ist als bester Hersteller von Gaming-Laptops in der heutigen Zeit hoch angesehen. Ihre jüngste portable Gaming-Notebook-Serie, das Alienware 13, wurde wegen seines 13-Zoll-Bildschirms so benannt. Portabilität ist das Stichwort, da das Gerät mit einer Bauhöhe von 2,54 cm so schlank wie möglich gestaltet wurde und nur etwas über 2 kg wiegt. Der 13-Zoll-Bildschirm ist in zwei Varianten erhältlich, als Bildschirm mit normaler 1366 x 768 Pixel Auflösung ohne Touch-Support und ein Touch-Modell mit einer Auflösung von 560 x 1440 Pixel.
Die Hardware umfasst einen Intel i5-4210U 1,7 GHz Dual-Core-Prozessor und eine Nvidia GeForce GTX 860M GPU, um den Anforderungen der meisten aktuellen Spiele gerecht zu werden. Alienwares eigene Klipsch Lautsprecher sind schön in das Gehäuse verpackt und sorgen für ausreichend Bass, um die geniale Spieleatmosphäre zu vervollständigen.
Das Gehäuse weist ein futuristische Design mit scharf gewinkelten Kanten unter dem Bildschirm und oberhalb der Tastatur und tiefen schrägen Rillen an der Abdeckung auf, die mit zwei LEDs, die zum Alien-Kopf führen, versehen wurde. Zudem ist ein von Nvidia in Zusammenarbeit mit Alienware entwickelter Grafik-Verstärker verfügbar, der die 860M GPU außer Kraft setzen kann und mit der leistungsstärkeren Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 GPU Gaming zu unvorstellbarer Leistung und Höhen treibt.

Dieser Laptop der Alienware-Gaming-Serie von DELL ist die kleinere Version des Alienware 17. Die 13 im Namen weist auf einen 13-Zoll-Bildschirm hin. Während es sich um eine preisgünstigere Variante für Gamer handelt, ist sie dennoch wie die anderen Alienware-Laptops mit einem konfigurierbaren Hintergrundlicht gestaltet. Der Computer weist eine sehr glatte graue Farbe mit dem Alien-Kopf in der Mitte des Bildschirmdeckels auf. Zudem verfügt die Tastatur über ein blaues Hintergrundlicht. Der Laptop ist mit drei USB-Ports, einem Gigabit-Ethernet-Port und einem HDMI-Ausgang ausgestattet. Außerdem ist er mit 2,09 kg sehr leicht und es handelt sich um den schlankesten Alienware-Laptop, der derzeit am Markt erhältlich ist. Eines seiner besten Features ist sein sehr reaktionsfreudiger Touchscreen. Dank 4 GB RAM ist der Computer gut für Multitasking geeignet und es stehen 500 GB Festplattenspeicher zur Verfügung. Weiters verfügt er über eine Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M mit 2 GB VRAM, welche die anspruchsvollsten Video-Settings am Full-HD-Bildschirm zu einem Kinderspiel macht. Weitere Vorteile sind, dass der Laptop sehr robust ist und sein Akku im Idle-Betrieb bis zu 10,5 Stunden durchhält. Allerdings beträgt die Akkulaufzeit beim Gaming mit hohen Einstellungen nur 3,5 Stunden. Außerdem ist der Computer mit einem Intel i5 Prozessor ausgestattet. Dabei handelt es sich zwar nicht um die leistungsstärkste CPU, doch als kleineres Modell benötigt der Laptop nicht unbedingt einen i7 Prozessor. We are still pretty impressed by the horsepower, storage options, and battery that the engineers were able to stick inside the small chassis. For example, you can get a hold of two M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD slots along with a 51Wh battery that will last for nearly a day with normal usage. That’s more than some other premium notebooks and ultrabooks can offer. And to be honest, that was the last thing we were expecting from a gaming-oriented notebook. Oh, and the touchpad and keyboard are pretty comfortable as well.

Incidentally, the machine also scored a 7.1 on the SteamVR performance test, showing it was also "VR Ready." Stay tuned in the days ahead as we step through the rest of the design, software and benchmark details of the Alienware 13 R3. For now, we're going back to work, gaming. It's a little tough, at the moment, to judge the Alienware 13's value compared to its competition, because when we wrote this, there were no other 13-inch, GTX 1060-based gaming laptops available (at least that we could find on Newegg.com). There was a 14-inch Aorus X3 Plus v6-PC3K4D with GTX 1060 graphics ready for pre-order when we wrote this. It purports to sport a higher-resolution (3,800x1,800-pixel) screen, and it is priced at $100 less. But that high-resolution screen is a poor fit for the abilities of the GTX 1060 graphics. We'd gladly pay $100 more for the privilege of gaming (and working) on the gorgeous OLED screen of the Alienware 13.

Alienware 13 OLED 2017
Das Alienware 13 OLED 2017 ist ein Hochleistungs-Gaming-Laptop. Wie für Alienware üblich verfügt er über ein futuristisches Design, eine farbenfrohe LED-Beleuchtung, und hohe Gaming-Leistung. Das Alienware 13 beweist, dass ein Gaming-Laptop schlank sein, ausreichend Akkulaufzeit für eine Flugreise bieten und – mit wenigen Kompromissen – auch als Gerät für Produktivität und Unterhaltung dienen kann. Der Gaming-Laptop verfügt über ein einfaches, mattschwarzes Design, das einen normalen Arbeitslaptop vortäuscht. Allerdings verleihen ihm der Bildschirmdeckel aus eloxiertem Aluminium, der subtil gewinkelte vordere Rand und Dells AlienFX Beleuchtung genau das richtige Erscheinungsbild als Gaming-Laptop. Das Innere ist gänzlich aus mattem Gummi mit weicher, konfigurierbarer Beleuchtung hinter Tasten und Logo unterhalb des Bildschirms. Das Materiel sammelt - anders als Laptops aus anderem Material – keine Fingerabdrücke. Das neue Alienware 13 ist nicht nur eine starkes Beispiel eines kompakten Gaming-Notebooks (möglicherweise ein Konkurrent von Razers Blade Serie), sondern auch das erste Modell dieser Marke mit einer Intel Kaby Lake Core CPU der siebten Generation, welche 4K-Inhalte am Laptop-Bildschirm ermöglicht. Der OLED-Bildschirm löst in 2.560 x 1.440 Pixeln auf. Die Farbproduktion ist großartig und Grafik in Spielen sieht knackig und lebendig aus. Zudem handelt es sich um einen Touchscreen, der einige Windows-10-Features nutzt. Im Inneren des Laptops befindet sich ein Intel Core i7-7700 2.8 GHz Prozessor und 16 GB RAM. Seine eigenständige Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 eignet sich für Full-HD-Gaming. Dank Steam und Nvidias GeForce-Games-Store, sind Top-Titel für PC genauso leicht erhältlich wie für PlayStation und Xbox-Konsolen. Das Alienware 13 2017 ist für volles VR-Gaming leistungsstark genug, falls User Oculus Rift oder HTC Vive zur Hand haben. Es handelt sich um den ersten 13-Zoll-Laptop, der dies unterstützt. Die Audiotreiber von Alienware 13 bieten lauten, klaren Sound ohne Verzerrungen und Krachen. Zur Verbesserung der Gaming-Experience bietet das Alienware 13 Alienwares Virtual Surround. Das ist der Versuch in einem Laptop Raumklang zu simulieren. Es verfügt über eine deutliche Unterscheidung von einfacher Links-und-Rechts-Klangtrennung mit der Möglichkeit Sound nahe des Laptopgehäuses oder durch einen ganzen Raum zu projizieren. Das Alienware 13 bietet eine Akkulaufzeit von 5 Stunden. Das ist kürzer als bei den meisten aktuell am Markt verfügbaren erstklassigen Laptops. Allerdings ist dies bei einem hauptsächlich auf Gaming ausgerichteten Laptop verzeihlich. Die Schnittstellenausstattung des Alienware 13 umfasst eine Ethernetbuchse, einen Mini-DisplayPort, einen HDMI-Port und einen USB-Type-C-Thunderbolt-Port. Letzterer dient auch als Anschluss für den Stromadapter und den Alienware Graphics Amplifier. Das Alienware 13 OLED beweist in vielerlei Hinsicht ein würdiger Konkurrent des Razer Blade zu sein. Das Alienware 13 hat mir beim Testen sehr viel Freude bereitet. Beim Zocken sowie beim Arbeiten konnte ich mir alle Wünsche erfüllen. Das Display ist so schön anzusehen, dass mir bei einem Blick auf andere Monitore diese inzwischen stark veraltet vorkommen. Schade ist nur die starke Spiegelung, die ab und zu stört.

Alienware: Alienware wurde 1996 in den USA gegründet. Die europäische Hauptniederlassung befindet sich in Irland. Alienware gehört seit 2006 zum Dell-Konzern. Die Produktpalette fokussiert vor allem Gaming-Laptops und -Desktops, die von Dell entwickelt und hergestellt werden. Markenzeichen ist ein leicht futuristisch anmutendes Design mit einem Alien als Logo. Zusätzlich werden Workstations für Privat- und Geschäftskunden vertrieben.
Wie bei jeder Marke gibt es auch bei Alienware einige Kritikpunkte. Einige Kunden haben sich über die hohen Preise der Produkte beschwert, während andere die Qualität der Kundendienstleistungen bemängelt haben. Es gab auch einige Berichte über Probleme mit der Zuverlässigkeit und Haltbarkeit einiger Alienware-Produkte. Allerdings haben viele Kunden auch positive Erfahrungen mit der Marke gemacht und schätzen die leistungsstarken Gaming-Computer.
Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.

Diese Grafikkarten sollten alle modernen Spiele flüssig darstellen können. Anspruchsvolle Spiele müssen jedoch in mittlerer Detailstufe gespielt werden. Ältere und weniger anspruchsvolle Spiele wie die Sims Serie können auch in hohen Detailsstufen flüssig dargestellt werden.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 Mobile: High-End Notebook-Grafikkarte mit 6 GDDR5-Grafikspeicher und drittschnellste mobile Pascal-GPU nach der GTX 1080 und GTX 1070. Verfügt über 1.280 Shadereinheiten und taktet identisch wie die Desktop-Version.

In diesem Display-Größenbereich gibt es kaum noch Tablets. Für Subnotebooks ist es dagegen das Standardformat.
Der Vorteil von Subnotebooks liegt darin, dass das ganze Notebook klein dimensioniert sein kann und daher leicht tragbar ist. Das kleinere Display hat noch den Vorteil wenig Strom zu benötigen, was die Akkulaufzeit und damit die Mobilität weiter verbessert. Der Nachteil ist, dass das Lesen von Texten anstrengender für die Augen ist. Hohe Auflösungen finden sich eher bei den Standard-Laptops.

Eine Kaufempfehlung kann man nur mit viel Wohlwollen darin sehen, es sei denn es handelt sich um Websites, die generell streng urteilen.
