Wer den Laptop mit dem besten Preis-Leistungsverhältnis sucht, sollte das ThinkPad Edge 15 von Lenovo in Betracht ziehen. Es ist leistbar und benutzerfreundlich und eignet sich als kleiner Business-Laptop. Das ThinkPad 15 wird ziemlich konservativ und ist sehr dick und kastenförmig. Allerdings ist die matte, schwarze Oberfläche ziemlich resistent gegen Fingerabdrücke. Mit einem Gewicht von 2,49 kg gehört das Edge 15 nicht zu den schwersten Laptops am Markt. Dennoch eignet es sich wahrscheinlich besser für einen Einsatz am Schreibtisch als unterwegs.

Wie der Name vermuten lässt, verfügt das Edge 15 über einen 15.6-Zoll Bildschirm, der sich großartig für mehrere parallele Anwendungen eignet. Der große Formfaktor bietet auch genügend Platz für einen Tastatur in voller Länge. Das ThinkPad Edge 15 ist mit einem von Intels jüngsten i3 Prozessoren, mickrigen 2 GB RAM und einer integrierten Grafikkarte ausgestattet. Daher eignet es sich für anspruchsloses Web-Surfen und Textverarbeitung und wird bei intensiven Aufgaben wie Video-Encoding und Gaming langsam. Die Akkulaufzeit von knapp über 4 Stunden ist auch mittelmäßig. Insgesamt ist die Benutzerschnittstelle des Laptops gut, doch die Hardware entspricht dem Preis.

The look and feel of the ThinkPad Edge 15 inch is superb, and the performance of the Core i5 hardware delivers the goods. The only weak part of the specification is the Intel graphics core, which will be a downer for gamers but the rest of us won't care. And using Intel graphics helps to extend the battery life to a credible 114 minutes of continuous use. Our single biggest problem with the ThinkPad Edge is that it is rather expensive, despite its claim to be a budget laptop.

The Edge series has brought a lot of changes to the ThinkPad name. Most prominently, the glossy painted lid and Chiclet keyboard. With the smaller Edge 13 and Edge 14, build quality wasn't a huge problem; we only had a few minor concerns like screen protection and hinge quality. The Edge 15, with its larger size, seemed to hit the breaking point where the lack of an internal framework created considerable chassis flex around the palmrest and keyboard areas. The Edge 13 had panels that felt as hard as rock with absolutely no keyboard flex, which obviously didn't carry over as the size was increased past a certain point. In the end, our only recommendation would be to steer toward the smaller Edge 13 or 14 if you like the design or look at higher ThinkPad models if you need a 15-inch screen.

The ThinkPad Edge is definitely another great offering from Lenovo, especially for people looking for a great mix of business and consumer features. As far as the business aspect goes you do get the ThinkVantage software suite that has a lot of very cool business features many people will like, especially the Active Protection System, which makes sure your hard drive does not get damaged if you happen to drop your laptop. For normal consumers the new red color on the ThinkPad Edge will definitely catch their attention. I don’t know that many other laptops that come in red!

Diese Karten können nur sehr alte und sehr anspruchslose 3D Spiele flüssig darstellen.  Anwendungen wie Office, Internet surfen, Bildbearbeitung oder (SD) Videoschnitt sind jedoch ohne große Einschränkungen möglich.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) HD Graphics: Intel HD Graphics oder GMA HD genannte onboard Grafikkarte welche im Package der Core i3/i5/i7 Arrandale Dual-Core Prozessoren untergebracht wird. Je nach Prozessormodell maximal mit 500 bis 766 MHz getaktet (Turbo Boost). Von Lenovo anscheinend auch GMA5700MHD genannt. Die gleichgenannte Intel HD Graphics Prozessorgrafik in den Sandy Bridge Prozessoren basiert auf einer neueren Architektur.

ATI Radeon HD 4250:

Onboard Grafikchip von AMD (im RS880M Chipsatz) mit Avivo HD (jetzt UVD2 mit PIP Support) und guter 3D Leistung (für einen onboard Chipsatz).

Intel Core i3:

350M: Der Core i3-350M ist ein Core i5-430M, jedoch ohne Turbo Boost und geringer getaktete GPU. Dadurch läuft die CPU mit maximal 2.26 GHz. Durch Hyperthreading werden bis zu 4 Threads gleichzeitig bearbeitet. Im Package ist auch noch eine integrierte Grafikkarte (GMA HD mit 500-667 MHz) und ein Speichercontroller (beide noch 45nm Fertigung). Dadurch ist der gesamte TDP von 35 Watt nicht sehr hoch.
