Das Lenovo IdeaPad Y50 bietet ein schönes gebürstetes Metall-Design und sieht wirklich hübsch und professionell aus. Im Inneren arbeitet ein Intel Core-i7-Prozessor mit einer Taktrate von 3.2 GHz. Das ist für die meisten Nutzer mehr als ausreichend. Die zweite Grafikkarte ist auch beeindruckend. Die NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M gehört heute zu den besten Grafikkarten. Spieler werden sich freuen, dass sogar moderne Spiele mit maximalen Einstellungen laufen.
Der 15.6-Zoll Bildschirm ist so groß, dass die Schrift nicht zu klein erscheint. Er hat eine Auflösung von 1920 x 1080 Pixeln, was nur mittelmäßig ist. Es gibt bessere Bildschirme, doch jener des Lenovo IdeaPad Y50 ist ausreichend. Der Laptop wiegt 2,4 kg, was heutzutage schwer ist. Doch das Lenovo IdeaPad Y50 ist nicht für Mobilität ausgelegt.
Insgesamt ist das Lenovo IdeaPad Y50 ein ausgezeichneter Einstiegs-Laptop für Spieler, die kein Vermögen für einen High-End-Laptop ausgeben wollen. Es eignet sich auch für Gelegenheitsnutzer, wenn diese den Mangel an Mobilität akzeptieren können.

Der Lenovo Y50-70 Gaming-Laptop hat eine ästhetische dunkelgraue und schwarze Oberfläche. Der Laptop (Y50-70 59-422475) gehört zur Y50-Serie und nutzt einen Intel Core i7 4700HQ.
Der 15,6-Zoll-Bildschirm hat eine Auflösung von 1920 x 1080 Pixel und fungiert auch als Touchscreen. Der Laptop bietet eine Grafikkarte der oberen Mittelklasse (NVIDIA GeForce GTW 860M), was Hardcore-Gamer nicht gefallen könnte. Zudem nutzt er nicht die neuere IPS-Technologie (die weite Blickwinkel liefert). Dafür sollten die meisten Spiele in hohen Auflösungen laufen.
Der Gaming-Laptop wiegt 2,4 kg und ist damit deutlich leichter als die meisten Gaming-Notebooks. Die Tastatur mit rotem Hintergrundlicht sieht schön aus, doch leider kann die Farbe nicht angepasst werden. Das Touchpad des Lenovo Y50 reagiert überempfindlich. Die Empfindlichkeit sollte etwas reduziert werden, damit es nicht versehentlich aktiviert wird, während die Tastatur benutzt wird. Die Verarbeitung ist insgesamt gut, leidet jedoch unter einigen Teilen, die aus Kunststoff sind und anfällig für auseinander brechen sind.
Mit einer Bauhöhe von 2,4 cm ist der Laptop schlank. Dennoch hat er ein starkes Sound-System, das scharfe Details liefert. Lenovo hat viel Software, vorwiegend Bloatware, vorinstalliert. Darunter sind jedoch auch einige nützliche Gadgets, bei denen es sich auszählt, dass man sie belässt. Der Laptop hält im Akkubetrieb etwa 5 Stunden beim Web-Surfen mit hoher Helligkeit durch.

Es handelt sich um eine sehr leistungsfähige Plattform mit beeindruckender Hardware-Spezifikation in einem schönen schwarzen Gehäuse mit Lenovos Markenzeichen, einer roten LED-beleuchteten Isolations-Tastatur. Der 15.6-Zoll große FHD-Bildschirm unterstützt 10-Punkt-Toucheingabe.

Obwohl das Y50 als Gaming-Laptop kategorisiert ist, bietet es verglichen mit anderen unlängst herausgegebenen Laptops eher Mittelklasse-Hardware. Lenovos jüngster Spross wirft verglichen mit dem Vorgänger der Y510p Serie eine Menge Ballast ab und ist nun mit 2,4 kg viel leichter und gerade einmal 2,54 cm dick. Das Lenovo IdeaPad Y50 Notebook ist ein Gaming-Laptop mit Features, die Enthusiasten begeistern würden. Als Erstes ist da die sehr leistungsstarke 2.5 GHz Intel Core i7 CPU der vierten Generation. Dann gibt es 8 GB RAM onboard und die RAM-Kapazität kann auf bis zu 16 GB erweitert werden, da zwei RAM-Slots zur Verfügung stehen. Schließlich ist der Bildschirm 15,6 Zoll groß und löst mit 3840 x 2160 Pixeln auf. Um derart viele Pixel zu liefern, kommt eine GeForce GTX 960M mit 4 GB eigenständigem DDR5 VRAM zum Einsatz. Eine Samsung SSD mit einer Kapazität von 512 GB wird als Speicher verwendet und beim Betriebssystem handelt es sich um Windows 8.1. Die Tastatur dieses IdeaPads verfügt über ein rotes Hintergrundlicht, was Tippen und Gaming im Dunkeln vereinfacht. Als Akku wird ein 4-Zellen-Modell verwendet, der bei normaler WiFi-Verwendung bis zu 4 Stunden durchhält. Es gibt an diesem Notebook drei USB-Ports, zwei davon sind USB-3.0-Ports. Außerdem bietet das Y50 einen HDMI-Ausgang, einen Multi-Card-Slot und einen Kensington Lock für Sicherheit. Mit eingestecktem Akku wiegt das Notebook 2,4 kg, was für diese Bildschirmgröße relativ leicht ist. Last year the Y50 was a bit of a dodgy option given its limited screen quality, but in the 2015 upgrade to IPS panels (for both the 1080p and 4K resolutions) and the bump from a GTX 860M to GTX 960M GPU (a slight but worthwhile upgrade) Lenovo has solved some, if not all, of its problems.

The same applies for the Lenovo Y50, but the frequency of the emitted light there is 21.6 kHz and can be considered way less harmful to your eyes.

However, this notebook has its own drawbacks like leaving easily smudges on the exterior and interior, the keyboard is lacking multimedia buttons and the touchpad design isn’t all that great. The cooling system is made with style, but fails to deliver the needed airflow for keeping the internals cool. You will easily notice the heat on the top side of the keyboard and we strongly recommend using an external cooling pad with airflow above 60 or 70 CFM. This will have a huge impact on the user experience.

Lenovo macht die Sache rund. Zuletzt erwies sich das Y50-70 als ein gelungener Einstieg in die mobile Gamingwelt. Der Hersteller pumpt nun noch mehr Power in das schlanke Gehäuse und verbessert das Gesamtpaket. Wichtigste Änderung: Lenovo ersetzt das schwache TN-Display im Vorgänger durch ein gutes IPS-Panel mit 1080p Auflösung und matter Oberfläche.

Lenovo („Le“ vom englischen legend, novo (Latein) für neu) wurde 1984 als chinesische Computerhandelsfirma gegründet. Ab 2004 war die Firma der größte Laptop-Hersteller Chinas und nach der Übernahme der PC-Sparte von IBM im Jahr 2005 der viertgrößte weltweit. Neben Desktops und Notebooks stellt das Unternehmen Monitore, Beamer, Server etc her und hat sich auf die Entwicklung, Herstellung und Vermarktung von Unterhaltungselektronik, Personalcomputern, Software, Unternehmenslösungen und damit verbundenen Dienstleistungen spezialisiert.
Im Jahr 2016 belegte das Unternehmen weltweit den ersten Platz bei den Computerverkäufen. Auch 2023 hatte es ihn noch inne bei ca 23% Weltmarktanteil. Wichtige Produktreihen sind Thinkpad, Legion und Ideapad.
2011 wurde die Mehrheit der Medion AG übernommen, einem europäischen Computer-Hardware-Hersteller. 2014 wurde Motorola Mobility gekauft, wodurch Lenovo einen Schub am Smartphone-Markt erreichte.
Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.
