Sieht man sich jedoch im Stande, die Grafik- und WLAN-Treiber selbst einzubinden sollte sich schon ein besseres Ergebnis einstellen. Eventuell funktioniert es auch mit einer anderen Distribution (Netbook-Remix?) besser.

The Asus Eee PC 1201N is the first notebook with an Atom processor and NVIDIA ION graphics that I’ve tested that doesn’t feel slower than a typical 10 inch Atom powered netbook at day to day tasks. Sure, the HP Mini 311 and other ION-powered systems can play modern video games and stream HD video. But they’re kind of sluggish for web browsing. That’s not true with the Asus Eee PC 1201N, which is likely due to the dual core Atom 330 CPU.

Also, if you're looking for a netbook with a five-hour plus battery life, then the 1201T is not for you. However, if you're looking for a big-screened netbook to watch HD movies along with internet and office productivity, then the 1201T is a decent and cheap option. Let's hope the Eee PC 1201PNL (with an Intel Atom-NVIDIA ION combination) gives us what's missing from this netbook.

The Atom and 1 GB of RAM do unfortunately impose certain limitations however, holding back the chipset a good deal.

Asus: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. ist ein großer taiwanesischer Hersteller von Computer-Hardware mit Sitz in Taipeh, gegründet 1989. Unter dem Markennamen Asus fertigt das Unternehmen eine breite Palette von Produkten, darunter Laptops, Desktops, Motherboards, Grafikkarten, Monitore, Smartphones und Netzwerkgeräte, Komplettsysteme und PC-Bauteile für Endkunden.

Unter dem Markennamen ROG (Republic of Gamers) stellt ASUS Gaming-Laptops her, die bei Spielern für ihre leistungsstarken Spezifikationen, dedizierten Grafikkarten, Displays mit hoher Bildwiederholrate und fortschrittlichen Kühlsystemen bekannt sind.

Über das Gaming hinaus werden eine breite Palette von Notebooks für unterschiedliche Anforderungen und Budgets geboten: von ultraschlanken und leichten Ultrabooks bis hin zu vielseitigen 2-in-1-Convertibles und budgetfreundlichen Optionen. 2023 hatte Asus einen Weltmarktanteil von 7% am PC-Markts.

Die Kundenzufriedenheit mit ASUS-Notebooks betrifft Leistung, die Funktionen und das gute Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis der ASUS-Notebooks. Wie bei jeder Marke gibt es jedoch gelegentlich Berichte über Probleme wie Überhitzung, Treiberkompatibilität oder Probleme mit der Verarbeitungsqualität.

Diese Karten können nur sehr alte und sehr anspruchslose 3D Spiele flüssig darstellen.  Anwendungen wie Office, Internet surfen, Bildbearbeitung oder (SD) Videoschnitt sind jedoch ohne große Einschränkungen möglich.

NVIDIA GeForce 9400M (G) / ION (LE): Integrierte (shared Memory) Grafikkarte und zum Zeitpunkt des Erscheinens schnellste integrierte Grafikkarte für Notebooks. Von Apple nur 9400M genannt. Wird auch in der ION (LE) Plattform verwendet. Mit DDR3 Hauptspeicher vergleichbar mit Einsteigslösungen wie der 9300M GS. Integrierter PureVideo HD (VP3) Videoprozessor zum Dekodieren von HD Videos.

ATI Radeon HD 3200:

Onboard Grafikchip (RS780M Chipsatz) von AMD mit Avivo HD Technologie zur Entlastung der CPU bei HD Videos. Der Kern basiert auf eine HD 2400. Achtung, unter XP soll es keine 2D Beschleunigung aufgrund eines Treiberfehlers geben.

NVIDIA ION 2: Der Nvidia ION 2 ist ein per PCIe 2 1x angebundener GT218 Chip für Pinetrail Atoms (D510, D410 und N450) mit Codenamen GT218-ION-A3 und GT218-ILV-A3. Im Vergleich zum ION 1, ist der ION 2 kein Chipsatz mehr, sondern ein auf G305M / G310M basierender Grafikchip mit eigenem Speicher. Je nach Version (Netbook 10", Netbook 12", Desktop) sind 8 oder 16 Kerne freigeschalten und auch die Taktrate varieert zwischen 405-535 MHz.

3D Spiele sind auf diesen Vertretern nur in Ausnahmen spielbar, grundsätzlich sind die Grafiklösungen hierfür jedoch nicht geeignet. Office Programme und Internet surfen dürfte jedoch ohne Problem möglich sein.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 500: Integrierter (onboard) Grafikchip auf UL11L, US15L, US15W Chipsatz mit lizensiertem PowerVR SGX 535 Kern. Trotz DirectX 10.1 Unterstützung durch die geringen Taktraten (100-200 MHz je nach UL11L - US15L/W) nicht spielfähig. Integrierter Video Decoder für MPEG-2, VC-1, AVC.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 950: Integrierter (onboard) Grafikchip auf Mobile Intel 945GM/C/Z/ME/ML Chipsätzen und Nachfolger des GMA 900. Kein Hardware T&L (für manche Spiele benötigt). Für Spiele kaum geeignet.

Intel Atom: Die Intel Atom Serie besteht aus 64-Bit Mikroprozessoren für günstige und stromsparende Notebooks, MIDs oder UMPC. Besonderheit der Architektur, ist das die Befehle nicht wie derzeit üblich (z. B. Intel Core Architekture oder AMD Turion) "out of Order"  sondern  "in  Order"  ausgeführt  werden. Dadurch verliert man zwar einiges an Performance, jedoch spart dies Transistoren und daher Kosten und dadurch auch etwas Strom.

330: Dual Core Desktop Atom CPU für Nettops ohne Stromsparfunktionen (nur C1 State). Die Performance reicht trotzdem nicht an die schwächsten Celeron Dual-Core CPUs heran.

Z520: Sparsamer Einkernprozessor, der dank Hyperthreading zwei Threads gleichzeitig berbeiten kann.

N270: Stromsparende und billige CPU mit schwacher Leistung und geringem Stromverbrauch. Durch die in-order Ausführung der Befehle langsamer als gleichgetaktete Pentium M / Core Solo / Celeron M.

N450: Intel Atom CPU für Netbooks mit integriertem DDR2 Speichercontroller und GMA 3150 Grafik. Die Leistung ist nur etwas besser eine Kombination aus N270 / GMA950, jedoch ist der gesamte Stromverbrauch deutlich besser. Die Leistung ist daher immer nur vergleichbar mit einem alten 1.2 GHz Pentium 3M.

AMD Athlon Neo:

MV-40: Langsamer Einkernprozessor für dünne Subnotebooks. Die Performance liegt etwas oberhalb der Intel Atom CPUs, jedoch ist der Stromverbrauch höher.

1.45 kg:

In this weight range, there are particularly light laptops, convertibles and subnotebooks that are trimmed for good portability.

78.42%: Weltbewegend ist diese Bewertung nicht. Diese Bewertung muss man eigentlich als unterdurchschnittlich ansehen, denn es gibt etwa ebenso mehr Geräte mit schlechtere Beurteilungen als Besseren. Eine Kaufempfehlung kann man nur mit viel Wohlwollen darin sehen, es sei denn es handelt sich um Websites, die generell streng urteilen.
