It’s bloated, overstuffed and desperately needs a sense-check applied. For a lot of people, that won’t matter as much. If you are coming from an older phone, you’ll appreciate the power and usability, however, if you’re a power-user, the software will do its best to drive you away. As such, if you are looking for an all-rounder and don’t care too much about tinkering with your phone, the X7 Pro will serve you well. If you like to customise your phone, and to make it your own, it will do nothing but frustrate.

The Nothing Phone 2a is a more direct rival, with a more distinctive appearance and superior cameras. Poco also needs to do more to reign in how many apps and games are pre-loaded out of the box. The only problem: The Poco X7 Pro seems like a much better deal. While I'm not a fan of this design, Poco does include a black silicon case that turns it into a plain Jane. More importantly, the phone feels good in the hand. It's slim and isn't heavy at 190g. The vegan leather finish also improves the grip. Another bonus: The Poco X7 is IP68 certified for dust and water resistance, which is really nice for its price.

The Poco X7 is not a major step up from the Poco X6. It comes with a refreshed design, a newer chipset and a better camera, but the complete water resistance and the enhanced shock absorption are probably the most notable improvements. Still, if you are not coming from a Poco X6 or Redmi Note 14 Pro, the Poco X7 will impress you with design, screen and even performance. We found its battery life and charging good enough, and its rich connectivity options are a big plus. The Poco X7 main camera does not live up to our expectations as it didn't offer a lossless 2x zoom, which was available on the Poco X6 (with a solid 4x option even, too). While the Poco X7 Pro comes with HyperOS 2 and Android 15, the X7 comes with HyperOS 1 and Android 14, which means one less major upgrade for this phone.

Xiaomi:

Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.

ARM Mali-G720 MP7: High-End Grafikchip für Smartphones mit 7 der 16 möglichen Kernen. Basiert auf die neue "5th Gen" Architektur (Nachfolger von Valhall) inklusive Variable Rate Shading (VRS) und Ray Racing (optional). Im Vergleich zum G715 sollen wieder 15% höhere Performance bei gleichen Taktraten möglich sein.

Einige nicht anspruchsvolle aktuelle Spiele können mit geringen Details noch flüssig gespielt werden. Für Office und Video natürlich ausreichende Leistungsreserven.

ARM Mali-G615 MP2: Mittelklasse Grafikchip für Smartphones mit 2 der 6 möglichen Kernen. Basiert auf die vierte Generation der Valhall Architektur. Bietet Variable Rate Shading.

Dimensity 8400: Der MediaTek Dimensity 8400 arbeitet mit acht ARM Cortex-A725-Kernen auf Basis eines „All-Big-Core-Designs“, das vollständig auf Performance-Kerne setzt. Dabei arbeitet 1 ARM Cortex-A725-Kern mit 3,25 GHz, 3 weitere mit 3,0 GHz, während die übrigen 4 Kerne als energieeffiziente Performance-Kerne dienen und mit bis zu 2,1 GHz laufen. 

Dimensity 7300: Der Dimensity 7300 ist ein Mittelklasse-Prozessor mit integriertem 5G Modem. Der CPU-Teil integriert vier ARM Cortex-A78 Kerne mit bis zu 2,5 GHz und vier Stromsparkerne vom Typ Cortex-A55 mit bis zu 2 GHz. Der SoC wird im modernen 4nm Prozess gefertigt.
