This is the first time we've seen a dedicated numeric pad alongside as well, however, and usability proved excellent. In relation to regular laptops, the touchpad is huge, and offers an easy and accurate way of navigation. While our review model featured a traditional 300GB hard drive, top of the range AW's feature both 128GB flash drives and 500GB hard drives, offering fast access speeds and generous storage space.

VAT) is the mid-range model, offering enough features to keep most users entertained for years. The 18.4-inch screen is one of the best we've seen on any laptop, offering vivid colours. Blacks are also accurately dark. It's a Super-TFT panel, so there are some inevitable reflections in brighter conditions, but it's a price well worth paying. Photos and movies look stunning, with high-definition (HD) films in particular reproduced in their full glory. External displays can also easily be connected using the high-definition digital HDMI or analogue VGA ports. If you can afford the high price tag, the AW11Z/B is without peer. You'll find a perfect blend of performance and features, and the large screen makes the most of your HD movies.

Unfortunately,this is not the case here, as the AW-17GU comes in at a whopping price tag of S$6999. That's a lot of money to spend on a DTR and we're unsure if it's actually worth it. While Apple naysayers tend to put down Apple's products by complaining about the so-called "Apple tax", it's sometimes strange to find Sony getting away with the same thing. To further prove our point, we also checked out the Sony VAIO VGN-AR18GP DTR model that was top of the line two years back which was the first notebook to feature a Blu-ray drive.

With an 18.4-inch screen, this is one serious slab of Sony technology and it has a price tag to match: £1,100. Value for money is subjective with a laptop like this, but there's no denying the Sony Vaio VGN-AW31M/H is a large, beautiful desktop replacement. The specification falls short of stunning considering the price, but it's still a very capable performer and few laptops this massive look as lovely as this

Wer darauf verzichten kann, und die geringfügig höhere Geschwindigkeit des AW31XY ausnutzen will, sollte zum aktuellen Modell greifen. Dafür erhält man ein Notebook mit einem guten, matten Full HD Panel, welches den kompletten RGB-Farbraum abdeckt und sensationelle Bildqualität beim Abspielen von Blu-ray Medien bietet.

Sony ist eine Kombination aus dem lateinischen Wort sonus (Klang) und dem englischen Wort sonny (kleiner Junge). Kerngeschäft ist heute die Unterhaltungselektronik. Das Unternehmen befasst sich mit der Entwicklung, dem Design, der Herstellung und dem Verkauf von elektronischen Geräten, Instrumenten, Vorrichtungen, Spielkonsolen und Software. Diese Karten können nur sehr alte und sehr anspruchslose 3D Spiele flüssig darstellen. Anwendungen wie Office, Internet surfen, Bildbearbeitung oder (SD) Videoschnitt sind jedoch ohne große Einschränkungen möglich.
NVIDIA GeForce 9300M GS: Durch jediglich 8 Unified Shader, unterhalb der 9300M G angesiedelt. Durch die hohe Chiptaktung zeigt die Karte jedoch fast die selbe Performance. Unterstützt Hybrid-SLI mit HybridPower und GeForceBoost.
Einige nicht anspruchsvolle aktuelle Spiele können mit geringen Details noch flüssig gespielt werden. Für Office und Video natürlich ausreichende Leistungsreserven.
NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT: Nachfolger der 8600M GT und durch 65nm Prozess deutlich höhere Taktraten (und dadurch mehr Performance) bei gleichem Stromverbrauch. Dadurch sollte die Leistung einer 8700M GT erreicht werden können (bei Verwendung von GDDR3). Verbesserte Videofunktionen (VP3), HybridPower und Hybrid SLI Unterstützung.

Intel Core 2 Duo: Core Duo Nachfolger mit längerer Pipeline und 5-20% Geschwindigkeitszuwachs bei 0.5 - 3 Watt mehr Stromverbrauch.
Der Notebook Core 2 Duo ist baugleich mit den Desktop Core 2 Duo Prozessoren, jedoch werden die Notebook-Prozessoren mit niedrigeren Spannungen und geringerem Frontsidebus Takt betrieben. Von der Leistung bleiben gleichgetaktete Notebooks deswegen (und auch wegen der langsameren Festplatten) 20-25% hinter Desktop PCs.
P8400: Der P8400 ist ein Mittelklasse-Dual-Core Prozessor der Core 2 Duo Reihe. Durch den TDP von 25W eignet sich die CPU auch für kleinere Notebooks. Für ambitionierte Spieler könnte die Leistung jedoch etwas zu gering ausfallen.
T9600: Sehr schnelle Dual-Core CPU und für Spiele (in 2009) gut geeignet. Im Vergleich zur P9700 höherer Stromverbrauch (35 W versus 28 W).
T9400: Der Core 2 Duo T9400 ist ein schneller Mittelklasse Prozessor mit 2.53 GHz und 6 MB Level 2 Cache. Verglichen mit dem gleich schnellen P9500, braucht der T9400 mehr Strom (höherer TDP).
P8600: Schneller, sparsamer und leistbarer Zweikernprozessor. Für die meisten Spiele und Multimedianawendungen ausreichend schnell und mit 25 Watt TDP auch für kleinere Notebooks geeignet.
T9800: High End Dual Core CPU mit 2.93 GHz und 6 MB Level 2 Cache. Auch für anspruchsvolle Spiele und Anwendungen gut geeignet.
P8700:
Mittelklasse Zweikern Notebookprozessor mit relativ geringem Stromverbrauch und 3 MB Level 2 Cache. Die schnelleren Versionen besitzen bereits 6 MB Cache.
T6500:
Einstiegsprozessor basierend auf den Penryn Kern. Baugleich mit dem C2D T6570 jedoch ohne Virtualisierungsfunktionen VT-x.
T9900: Die T-Varianten sind die Standardversion für Notebooks und verbrauchen etwa 30-39 Watt. T9900 ist (2009) die leistungsstärkste TXXX des Core 2 Duo und genauso schnell wie der Core 2 Extreme X9100 (welcher jedoch einen freien Multiplikator und einen höheren TDP aufweist).
P7450: Einstiegs Core 2 Duo Prozessor mit 3 MB Level 2 Cache und dank 25 Watt TDP relativ sparsam. Die Virtualisierungsfunktionen des Penryn Kerns werden jedoch nicht unterstützt.

Ein Laptop mit diesem Gewicht ist vergleichsweise schwer und weniger auf Mobilität ausgelegt als auf Verwendung am Schreibtisch. Die Geräte glänzen daher auch eher weniger mit Akkulaufzeit als mit großem Bildschirm und höherer Leistung.
79.37%: Weltbewegend ist diese Bewertung nicht. Diese Bewertung muss man eigentlich als unterdurchschnittlich ansehen, denn es gibt etwa ebenso mehr Geräte mit schlechtere Beurteilungen als Besseren. Eine Kaufempfehlung kann man nur mit viel Wohlwollen darin sehen, es sei denn es handelt sich um Websites, die generell streng urteilen.
