Wenn etwas besser sein könnte, dann der Fingerabdruck-Scanner. Er brauchte öfter mehrere Anläufe zur Entsperrung und erbittet sich obendrein eine Auszeit, wenn eine bestimmte Zahl an Fehlversuchen erreicht ist. Ich habe ihn irgendwann deaktiviert. Nach Updates scheint er jetzt aber besser zu funktionieren.

Dank Android 6 können Zugriffe auf einzelne App-Funktionen über den Scanner beschränkt werden. Ansonsten: Die Hardware ist absolute Spitze, vor allem die rauscharme Kamera ... mit ihrem blitzschnellen Fokus macht großen Spaß.

Samsung hat viele Schwächen des Vorgängers, den ich in beiden Versionen getestet habe, ausgemerzt und man merkt, dass auf die Kritik gehört wurde. Es stellt sich zwar die Frage, ob man ein paar dieser Funktionen schon mit dem Galaxy S6 hätte einführen können, doch die Antwort darauf werden wir wohl nie bekommen.

What can I say? A tremendously pleasing smartphone to use. It's been a while since I test-drove something I didn't want to give back, but the Galaxy S7 fits into that category quite comfortably. It looks sharp, feels reassuringly expensive and robust in the hand, the camera experience is an absolute joy. Performance is what you hope for from a flagship; it's fast, smooth and responsive, while the battery life is amongst the best available. The software is as close to stock Android as Samsung has ever come and as a result is one of the most hassle-free Samsung Galaxy devices I've used to date.

Moreover, Sony priced its finest for the season on par with the Galaxy S7, yet it will be sold unlocked in the US for usage on AT&T and T-Mobile only, and with a finger scanner missing. Its display might look good to lay-men, but upon closer inspection, you’d notice that it's a bit bluish and colors are not well-balanced; its Snapdragon 650 is a noticeable step below the Snapdragon 820, which will be noticed for those who edit pictures, browse the web a lot, and play games on their phones. And then, the image quality and camera experience is a bit below expectations. We won’t give our final verdict until we’ve thoroughly tested the HTC 10. However, it’s clear each phone has its advantages. You might like the LG G5, with its modular design, generous display size and removable battery. Alternatively, the more compact Galaxy S7 is fastest of the lot, with extras such as waterproofing, fast wireless charging, a heart-rate sensor and more common Micro-USB port. But don’t write off HTC: while the One M9 was mildly disappointing, the company has really pulled up its socks with the HTC 10, which is now a true rival to Samsung and LG and may just win you over with its fantastic design, awesome selfies and Hi-Res audio.

What does the data show us? There’s a few things we can take away from this test, not least that the Exynos version of the handset does offer better battery life than the Snapdragon version. In our test, streaming video over Wi-Fi with an absolute brightness measured at 25 lux in a dark room (the same level we set for all phones we battery-test), it only dropped 9 percent per hour. For some perspective, the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ (our top scores from 2015) all dropped 13 percent per hour under the exact same conditions. Extending that hourly average out, that's more than four extra hours of video streaming for the S7.

Putting up with TouchWiz is easier than ever with Android 6.0. Samsung's propensity to overload a phone with background services won't matter when Doze mode kicks in, and the main feature set is more focused. I don't know that the Edge variant is really taken advantage of in software, but it sure looks neat. The biggest knock against the GS7 is that it's running Marshmallow, and in a few months that won't be the current version of Android anymore. Samsung will take months to update the GS7, and during that time you might wish you'd gotten a Nexus device.

Of course, it's difficult to make a final judgement about which S7 you should buy when I haven't had a chance to test the S7 Edge yet, but I'll be updating this review with my definitive verdict on both phones as soon as I can. There's also the LG G5 and HTC's One M10 to watch out for on the horizon as well, but right now, the S7 certainly makes a compelling case as the early leader in this year's flagship race. This year, there is more of a difference between the S7 and S7 Edge: the S7 Edge is larger. But is this enough of a reason for both phones to exist? Keeping this in mind, we can say that the comparison between the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S7 is completely in favor of this year’s model. It is way more powerful, thanks to the Exynos 8890 SoC, which managed to achieve great scores in our performance tests. Moreover, the device offers longer battery life due to its larger capacity. Nevertheless, we are somehow disappointed by the fact that Samsung didn’t go along with the USB-C port, as LG and other OEMs did, and this might be the main reason the Galaxy S7 doesn’t support Quick Charge 3.0. Something very useful for phones without removable batteries. We do have to mention, though, that Sammy’s new flagship supports fast wireless charging if you are not into cables anymore.

Die Verarbeitung ist super und das Gerät ist staub- und wasser-resistent. Das Ganz-Glas-Design fühlt sich in der Hand prima an, sammelt jedoch Fingerabdrücke. Das gesamte Gerät ist in Corning Gorilla Glass 4 gehüllt und das Samsung Galaxy S7 verfügt über einen 5,1 Zoll großen Super-AMOLED-Bildschirm mit 577 PPI für erstklassige Übersichtlichkeit. Die Audio-Qualität ist gut, doch es fehlt ihr wegen der Lage der Lautsprecher etwas an Pep.

Das Android-6.0-Marshmallow-Gerät ist entweder mit einem Snapdragon 820 und Adreno 530 oder einem Exynos 8890 und einer Mali-T880 MP12 ausgestattet. Serie: The Samsung Galaxy A3 2017 is a handset for those after a compact phone, one on an affordable contract, or a device that can be bought SIM-free. Most of Samsung’s phones of previous years were plastic, even the fairly expensive devices. The Samsung Galaxy A3 demonstrates just how far the company has moved on from that style. This device is composed of glass and metal, with barely any plastic on show at all. The front and back glass are big-brand Gorilla Glass 4, and the rear features curved edges for a softer feel. Beneath the screen is a reliable fingerprint scanner couched between the two soft keys, just as in Samsung’s larger phones. Also included is a headphone jack. In addition, the Galaxy A3 is water resistant. Its IP68 certification means that an accidental drop in water is unlikely to cause damage. The phone has just 16 GB of storage, which is a little disappointing since the device offers only 9.8 GB of available internal memory and 481 MB of RAM without installing any apps. However, there is a slot for a single microSD card in the tray. The Samsung Galaxy A3 has an unusual speaker placement. Rather than sitting on the bottom of the device, it can be found on the side, above the power button. Speaker quality is fine, with enough volume to cut through some ambient noise.

For display, the Samsung Galaxy A3 2017 features a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED panel with punchy colors that can be calibrated to suit the user’s taste. For those who like a super-vivid look, it’s there. If a more relaxed colour is desired, it's possible to just switch to the "Basic" mode in Settings to achieve this. The Samsung Galaxy A3 has a 13 MP rear camera with a f/1.9 lens. However, the camera lacks optical image stabilization. Around the front sits an 8 MP selfie camera. It's capable of producing decent images in good light. The phone uses an Exynos 7870, a CPU with eight Cortex-A53 cores clocked at up to 1.6 GHz, and a Mali-T830 GPU. Samsung also includes masses of pre-installed apps, which aren't entirely welcome since the Samsung Galaxy A3’s storage is limited. There's the Microsoft Apps suite, including Word and OneNote. S Health is probably the most interesting of Samsung’s own apps. This is now a full fitness and 'wellness’ platform, allowing the user to simply track steps, but also log user’s food and GPS-track hikes, cycles and walks as well. There's only a small increase in battery capacity from 2,300 to 2,350 mAh. The 2,350 mAh battery is well suited to the Samsung Galaxy A3’s small screen, and when used in a way that exploits this, the Galaxy A3 lasts for some time. The 2017 Galaxy A3 is a low-end smartphone with all the necessary features of a high-end device. Hence, the slightly higher price tag is justified.
