3,5,7. Die Galaxy-A-Serie von Samsung spricht eher den normalen Geldbeutel an als die sündhaft teuren Galaxy-S-Modelle. Nun gibt es mit dem Galaxy A7 auch ein kleines Phablet in der Serie. Wir haben das schicke Smartphone genauer unter die Lupe genommen.

Die beiden kleineren Schwestermodelle unseres aktuellen Testgerätes hatten wir ja bereits im Test.

Zum Sturm auf die Spitze hat's zwar nicht gereicht, aber wer einen großen Oberklasse-Androiden mit Metalldesign sucht, wird hier fündig. Mit seinem kontraststarken, großen Display und besseren Fotos bei Tag gewinnt das Galaxy A7 das Duell.

Archive.org versionSamsung bringt auch das dritte Modell seiner A-Serie nach Deutschland. Nach A3 und A5 kommt jetzt das Galaxy A7 mit 5,5 Zoll und besserer Ausstattung. Samsungs Alu-Serie geht auch in groß, das Galaxy A7 zeigt im Test eine gute Leistung. Full-HD-Display und der Akku schneiden stark ab, allerdings wirkt das Arbeitstempo etwas träge und die OS-UI-Kombi ist schlicht veraltet.

EN→DE Archive.org versionStylish and elegant design isn’t the only thing we liked about the Galaxy A7. The only drawback we saw was the screen flickering effect of the Super AMOLED display. However, it offers great contrast and covers the entire sRGB color gamut. We were pleasantly surprised by the long battery life, the high performance, the camera and, of course, the TouchWiz user interface, offering a handful of useful modes and features. In other words, despite the fact that we don’t align the Galaxy A7 side by side with the flagship phones on the market, it is definitely not far from them and in some aspects it’s even better. Samsung focused mostly on the appearance and construction reaching super-thin profile of 6.3 mm.

The phablet will turn plenty heads with its slender, light but rigid metal frame and beautiful 5.5" Super AMOLED screen. Then some of those heads will sag a little when they see it's the familiar Galaxy picture drawn with more expensive paints. They will hang lower still when they find out that the internal hardware is closer to a midrange device rather than the high-muscle silicon inside the excellent Galaxy Note 4.

Modell: Das Samsung Galaxy A7 ist das jüngste Metall-Smartphone, das Klasse verströmt und in perlweiß, mitternachts-blau und champagner-gold verfügbar ist. Die Metallkonstruktion ist ein willkommener Trend, wobei das Gehäuse mit der physikalischen Home-Taste zwischen den kapazitiven Tasten für die zuletzt benutzen Apps und Back bekannt bleibt. Die Rückseite verfügt über eine Kunstlederoberfläche mit Ausschnitten für Blitz, Kamera und Lautsprecher. Das Dual-SIM-Smartphone verfügt über einen Super-AMOLED-Touchscreen mit Full-HD-Auflösung der durch Corning Gorilla Glas 4 geschützt wird.
Dies ist das einzige A-Modell mit Full-HD-Bildschirm. Vom Samsung Galaxy A7 gibt es zwei Hauptmodelle: ein LTE/3G Dual SIM-Modell und ein nur-LTE-Modell. Ersteres verfügt über eine 1,5 GHz Quad-Core plus 1.0 GHz Cortex-A53-Kombination, während letzteres durch quad core 1,8 GHz Cortex-A15 plus quad-core 1,3 GHz Cortex-A7 Chips angetrieben wird. Abhängig vom Modell ist das Samsung Galaxy A7 mit einer Adreno 405 oder Mali-T628 MP6 GPU ausgestattet. Alle Modelle verfügen über 2 GB RAM. Der interne Speicher ist modellunabhängig 16 GB. Mit microSD-Karte kann die Speicherkapazität erweitert werden. Es gibt einer primäre 13-MP-Kamera an der Rückseite und eine sekundäre 5-MP-Frontkamera. Das Samsung Galaxy A7 verfügt über einen nicht entfernbaren Lithium-Ionen-Akku mit einer Nennkapazität von 2600 mAh.
Serie: The Samsung Galaxy A3 2017 is a handset for those after a compact phone, one on an affordable contract, or a device that can be bought SIM-free. Most of Samsung’s phones of previous years were plastic, even the fairly expensive devices. The Samsung Galaxy A3 demonstrates just how far the company has moved on from that style. This device is composed of glass and metal, with barely any plastic on show at all. The front and back glass are big-brand Gorilla Glass 4, and the rear features curved edges for a softer feel. Beneath the screen is a reliable fingerprint scanner couched between the two soft keys, just as in Samsung’s larger phones. Also included is a headphone jack. In addition, the Galaxy A3 is water resistant. Its IP68 certification means that an accidental drop in water is unlikely to cause damage. As is the case with the majority of new handsets, the Samsung Galaxy A3 has a USB Type-C charging port rather than micro-USB. The phone has just 16 GB of storage, which is a little disappointing since the device offers only 9.8 GB of available internal memory and 481 MB of RAM without installing any apps. However, there is a slot for a single microSD card in the tray. The Samsung Galaxy A3 has an unusual speaker placement. Rather than sitting on the bottom of the device, it can be found on the side, above the power button. Speaker quality is fine, with enough volume to cut through some ambient noise.
For display, the Samsung Galaxy A3 2017 features a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED panel with punchy colors that can be calibrated to suit the user’s taste. For those who like a super-vivid look, it’s there. If a more relaxed colour is desired, it's possible to just switch to the "Basic" mode in Settings to achieve this. The Samsung Galaxy A3 has a 13 MP rear camera with a f/1.9 lens. However, the camera lacks optical image stabilization. Around the front sits an 8 MP selfie camera. It's capable of producing decent images in good light. The phone uses an Exynos 7870, a CPU with eight Cortex-A53 cores clocked at up to 1.6 GHz, and a Mali-T830 GPU. Samsung also includes masses of pre-installed apps, which aren't entirely welcome since the Samsung Galaxy A3’s storage is limited. There's the Microsoft Apps suite, including Word and OneNote. S Health is probably the most interesting of Samsung’s own apps. This is now a full fitness and 'wellness’ platform, allowing the user to simply track steps, but also log user’s food and GPS-track hikes, cycles and walks as well. There's only a small increase in battery capacity from 2,300 to 2,350 mAh. The 2,350 mAh battery is well suited to the Samsung Galaxy A3’s small screen, and when used in a way that exploits this, the Galaxy A3 lasts for some time. The 2017 Galaxy A3 is a low-end smartphone with all the necessary features of a high-end device. Hence, the slightly higher price tag is justified.
