Lenovos ausgezeichnet verarbeitetes ThinkPad T410s (2912-3AG) schiebt sich nur mit wenigen Punkten an seinem Vorgänger vorbei auf den ersten Platz. Allein die Spitzenleistung macht’s möglich. Die zehrt dafür die Akkuladung schneller auf, weshalb T410s-Besitzer früher nach einer Steckdose suchen müssen als die Eigner des T400s. In sofern ist das ThinkPad T410s in erster Linie nur für Business-Anwender interessant, die es nach mehr Leistung dürstet.

Das T410s in der getesteten Ausstattung hebt sich von der Masse der Businessgeräte für den Officeeinsatz vor allem durch den Einsatz einer SSD  und seinen Touchscreen ab. Neben Core i5 520M CPU und vier Gigabyte Hauptspeicher in Kombination mit 64-Bit Betriebssystem  erreicht es vor allem durch Ersteres eine ausgezeichnete Anwendungsleistung. Die Grafikleistung bleibt mit integriertem GMA HD Chip immerhin auf brauchbarem Niveau.

The Lenovo ThinkPad T410s is a great laptop that is handicapped by a small battery. The inclusion of Nvidia Optimus hasn't done anything to change that, which isn't surprising - previous models with Intel integrated graphics were already known for having short battery life. Short battery life isn't the end of the world. Most laptop users are fine with just three hours of battery life.

Naturally, few ThinkPads come at a discount, and the $1,985 price tag is likely too steep for most (try subbing that HD in lieu of the SSD to trim the cost a bit), but our sole operational complaint is one of battery life. That ultra-bright screen clearly exacts its toll on your power cell, with the T410s turning in just 83 minutes of DVD playback while operating at full brightness. It may not be able to make it through back-to-back episodes of Mad Men, but you'll certainly love it while it's running.

Many companies look for brand as much as for features when selecting their laptops. The Lenovo T410s is an impressive laptop as long as it remains tethered to mains power. It may not be ideal for you if you need long life away from mains power, but for the occasional out of office client meeting or stint working on the train it may be ideal. But then again, at the price, it is only like to be a viable option for the top brass

Lenovo's ThinkPad T410s offers a nice alternative to the traditional T410 with a more compact frame that is small but still includes an internal DVD drive. Performance has improved with the Core i5 dual core processor but storage performance is a bit lower with the traditional hard drive. Durability and ergonomics are outstanding for the system that really set it apart from many other business laptops. It would be nice to see a slightly lower price tag or more memory though.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) HD Graphics: Intel HD Graphics oder GMA HD genannte onboard Grafikkarte welche im Package der Core i3/i5/i7 Arrandale Dual-Core Prozessoren untergebracht wird. Je nach Prozessormodell maximal mit 500 bis 766 MHz getaktet (Turbo Boost). Von Lenovo anscheinend auch GMA5700MHD genannt. Die gleichgenannte Intel HD Graphics Prozessorgrafik in den Sandy Bridge Prozessoren basiert auf einer neueren Architektur.

Diese Karten können nur sehr alte und sehr anspruchslose 3D Spiele flüssig darstellen.  Anwendungen wie Office, Internet surfen, Bildbearbeitung oder (SD) Videoschnitt sind jedoch ohne große Einschränkungen möglich.

520M: Der Core i5-520M besitzt im Vergleich zum i7-640 nur 3MB L3 Cache und taktet zwischen 2.4-2.93 GHz (je nach Auslastung dank Turbo Mode). Durch Hyperthreading werden bis zu 4 Threads gleichzeitig bearbeitet. Im Package ist auch noch eine integrierte Grafikkarte (GMA HD mit 500-766 MHz) und ein Speichercontroller (beide noch 45nm Fertigung).
