Das Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon mit Privacy-Guard-Display ist ein Geschäftslaptop, das auch sehr gut aussieht. Es ist eine elegantere und leichtere Version des ThinkPad X1. Das  ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 7 frischt das Design mit einer optionalen Deckeloberfläche aus geflochtener Kohlefaser auf. Das neue X1 Carbon ist das leichteste 14-Zoll-Ultrabook, es wiegt ab 1,3 kg. Darüber hinaus ist es bloß 17,72 mm dünn und somit das dünnste ThinkPad bis jetzt. Der Laptop ist aus für Satelliten geeigneter Kohlefaser gefertigt, das X1 Carbon ist das robusteste ThinkPad, das je gebaut wurde. Tatsächlich führt Lenovo beinahe ein Dutzend Tests durch, die Militäransprüchen entsprechen, alle in extremen Bedingungen mit Staub, Erschütterungen, Kälte, Höhe, Wasser, Luftfeuchtigkeit, Sonnenstrahlung, Pilz und Salznebel. Als ThinkPad ist das Gerät außerdem mit hochgradiger Sicherheit ausgestattet. Mit einem Fingerabdruck-Leser kann man das X1 Carbon biometrisch entsperren und benötigt kein Passwort mehr. Sicherheitsfunktionen von Intel und vPro-Optionen verstärken den Schutz und verbessern die Installation von Updates. Kritische Information wird zudem mit einem TPM-Chip (Trusted Platform Module) zusätzlich verschlüsselt.

Unter der Haube stecken ein Intel Core i5-8265U Prozessor, eine Intel UHD Graphics 620 Grafikeinheit, 16 GB verlöteten LPDDR3-2133 Dual-Channel RAM und 512 GB SSD-PCIe-Speicherplatz. Der 14-Zoll-Display mit einem Seitenverhältnis von 16:9 hat eine Full-HD-Auflösung, somit hat der IPS-ePrivacy-Bildschirm eine Pixeldichte von 157 PPI. Der ePrivacy-Bildschirm schütz den Bildschirminhalt vor fremden Blicken, außerdem ist er vor Schmierflecken geschützt. Das neue X1 Carbon liefert mit nur einer Ladung bis zu 10,9 Stunden Akkulaufzeit. Und wenn der Akku doch mal leer wird, kann man ihn schnell mit RapidCharge-Technologie aufladen – 80% der Kapazität in weniger als einer Stunde. Darüber hinaus bleibt das X1 Carbon trotz des ultra-dünnen Designs kühl. Lenovos patentierte Lüfterflügel sorgen für kühle und leise Leistung. Mit dem X1 Carbon Gen 7 können Nutzer sogar ohne WiFi ins Internet gelangen. Die optionale LTE-A-Karte und WWAN-Technologie verleihen dem Laptop die Funktion eines Smartphones. Wo ein Mobilfunknetz verfügbar ist, kann man ins Internet gelangen. Insgesamt ist das Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon ein hochwertiges Geschäftsnotebook mit sehr guter Leistung. Lenovo hat das ThinkPad X1 Carbon mit mehr Features und einem besseren Design verbessert. Allerdings eignet es sich wegen des hohen Preises mehr für Geschäftsleute, die das nötige Budget haben.

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon remains an excellent choice for a powerful and portable business laptop. It's got the expected combination of top build quality combined with excellent performance and decent features. There's little to dislike but we don't think you should punt for this 4K model we tested - even if you lose the carbon fibre lid. Battery life isn't great so dropping to a 1080p will help and the image will still be crisp enough for day-to-day tasks unless you need a higher resolution specifically for design work. This will also make the X1 more affordable, even cheaper than some rivals. Dropping to a Core i5 processor will also save you money and while still provideing enough performance for mainstream tasks. The X1 Carbon lives up to the ThinkPad’s famous name, just pick the right model.

Battery life is also good, as long as you choose the 1080p display over the short-lived 4K option. Despite all of that deserving praise, you probably shouldn't buy this ThinkPad X1 Carbon. At least, not today. Lenovo has already announced that it will bring 10th Gen Intel CPUs to its latest flagship ThinkPads. The new chips are expected to bring a nice performance boost on top of Wi-Fi 6 and integrated Thunderbolt 3 support. If you can't wait until then, don't sweat it -- the ThinkPad X1 Carbon is a fantastic business notebook and one of the best laptops, period.

Whether you're a business user or an everyday consumer, the ThinkPad X1 Carbon is an excellent choice. The latest version of Lenovo's flagship ultraportable has a superlightweight chassis that's as durable as it is gorgeous. Both 4K and 1080p display options are bright and vivid, and the X1 Carbon is powerful enough to run anything you throw at it as long as it doesn't require discrete graphics. Battery life is also good, as long as you choose the 1080p display over the short-lived 4K option. Despite all of that deserving praise, you probably shouldn't buy this ThinkPad X1 Carbon. At least, not today. Lenovo has already announced that it will bring 10th Gen Intel CPUs to its latest flagship ThinkPads. The new chips are expected to bring a nice performance boost on top of Wi-Fi 6 and integrated Thunderbolt 3 support. If you can't wait until then, don't sweat it -- the ThinkPad X1 Carbon is a fantastic business notebook and one of the best laptops, period.

Lenovo:

Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.

Intel UHD Graphics 620: Integrierte Grafikkarte (GT2-Ausbau, 24 EUs), welche in einigen Kaby-Lake-CPUs (Refresh, ULV-Modelle, 15 Watt TDP) verbaut wird. Technisch identisch zur HD Graphics 620 in den Kaby-Lake Modellen aus 2016.
