Putting it straight, the HP ZBook 15u G6 is not really a significant upgrade over the ZBook 15u G5. In fact, it is pretty much the same device with a refreshed processor and GPU. While to some extent both of them work better than their previous versions, the differences are just too small.

We would gladfully give this device an Editor’s choice award if it wasn’t for the sub-par performance – especially in longer tasks. While the CPU is the bomb when it comes to short tasks, like editing an image in Photoshop or doing some Excell maths, as soon as you try to render a video, the clock speeds plummet drastically. It is the same with the graphics card – at the beginning of a benchmark it performs really nice, but when you go five or more minutes into the test, its performance gets halved.

HP: 1939 gegründet, ist das US-Unternehmen ein wichtiger Server und Druckerhersteller und eines der führenden IT-Unternehmen weltweit. Bis 2015 hieß das Unternehmen Hewlett-Packard Company. Nach einer Aufspaltung wurde der Computer-Bereich in HP Inc. umbenannt.

2023 hatte HP einen ungefähren Marktanteil von 22% am weltweiten PC-Absatz und war damit die Nummer 2 nach Lenovo.

Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.

AMD Radeon Pro WX 3200: Auf Polaris basierende Grafikkarte Einstiegsgrafikkarte mit 640 Shadern (10Compute Units) und professionelle Version der Radeon RX 550 / RX 640 für Notebooks.

Intel Core i7:

i7-8565U: Auf der Whiskey Lake / Kaby-Lake-Architektur basierender ULV-SoC (System-on-a-Chip) für schlanke Notebooks und Ultrabooks. Integriert unter anderem vier CPU-Kerne mit 1,8 - 4,6 GHz und HyperThreading sowie eine Grafikeinheit und wird in 14-Nanometer-Technik (14nm++ versus 14nm+ bei Kaby-Lake-R) gefertigt.
