Am Bildschirmdeckel weist es das Asus-typische konzentrische Kreismuster mit subtilen, polierten Kanten entlang der Seiten auf. Sein Gewicht von 2,27 kg ist schwerer als das Dell XPS 15, jedoch leichter als Lenovos Ideapad Y700. Abmessungen von 38,35 x 25,4 x 2,03 cm machen es zudem klobiger als die anderen Geräte. Die Tastatur in voller Größe mit Hintergrundlicht ermöglicht schnelles und natürliches Tippen und wird nur von der Tastatur des Macbook Pro geschlagen. Weiters bietet sie Pfeiltasten in voller Größer, allerdings zu Lasten einer halbgroßen rechten Umschalttaste. Sein großes Touchpad mit Abmessungen von 10,16 x 6,99 cm ist sowohl schnell als auch reaktionsfreudig sowie groß genug für angenehme Verwendung, jedoch nicht zu groß, um wie bei vielen Laptops dieser Tage der Tastatur in die Quere zu kommen. Im Inneren arbeiten ein Intel Core i7-6700HQ 2,6 GHz Prozessor in Kombination mit 16 GB DDR4 RAM. Für beeindruckende Übertragungsraten bietet der Laptop eine 512 GB SSD. Die gemessenen Übertragungsraten sind schneller als beim XPS 15, bleiben jedoch hinter dem Macbook Pro zurück. Problemlos kann man bei diesem Computer mehrere Fenster offen haben und sogar mehrere anspruchsvolle Aufgaben durchführen. Dank einer Nvidia GeForce GTX960M dGPU mit 2 GB VRAM können User sowohl beim Gaming als auch bei Videowiedergabe/-bearbeitung eine höhere Grafikqualität genießen. Die meisten Spiele laufen zirka mit mittleren Einstellungen. Der 15,6 Zoll große Bildschirm des Laptops löst in 3.840 x 2.160 Pixeln auf und unterstützt 10-Punkt-Multi-Toucheingaben. In puncto Helligkeit ist er mt Dells XPS 15 gleichauf. Frühe Feedbacks von Usern sprechen unter anderem den glänzenden Bildschirm an, der manchmal störend sein kann. Trotzdem handelt es sich mit Sicherheit um einen guten Bildschirm, der sich für Videobearbeiter und Grafikdesigner eignet. Zudem ist das Gerät mit einer nach vorne gerichteten 1,2-MP-Kamera ausgestattet, die allerdings wegen fehlender Unterstützung der notwendigen Hardware für Gesichtserkennung mit Windows Hello-Sign-In nicht ausreicht. Die Klangqualität ist dank integrierter Stereo-Lautsprecher von Bang & Olufsen knackig und klar. Netzwerkverbindungen werden via schnellem WiFi-ac und Bluetooth unterstützt. Die Anschlussausstattung besteht aus drei USB-3.0-Ports (3.1 Gen 1 und USB 3.1 Gen 2), einen Thunderbolt-Port, einen HDMI-Port, einen DisplayPort, einen 2-in-1 Kartenleser (SD/SDXC) sowie einem Helligkeitssensor. Am Zenbook Pro ist Windows 10 Home vorinstalliert und Asus war mit Bloatware sparsam. Die Akkulaufzeit von bis zu 8 Stunden durchgängigem Web-Surfen via WiFi ist gleichermaßen beeindruckend, wird jedoch vom MacBook Pro mit 9 Stunden übertroffen. Wie beim MacBook Pro sind die Konfigurationsmöglichkeiten beschränkt. Insgesamt handelt es sich beim Zenbook Pro um einen leistungsstarken Laptop zu einem für diese Kategorie günstigen Preis. Wenn man bestimmte Kleinigkeiten vernachlässigen kann, bekommen User mit dem Zenbook Pro einen guten Gegenwert da es nichtsdestotrotz eine signifikante Verbesserung der Spezifikation bringt. Asus: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. ist ein großer taiwanesischer Hersteller von Computer-Hardware mit Sitz in Taipeh, gegründet 1989. Unter dem Markennamen Asus fertigt das Unternehmen eine breite Palette von Produkten, darunter Laptops, Desktops, Motherboards, Grafikkarten, Monitore, Smartphones und Netzwerkgeräte, Komplettsysteme und PC-Bauteile für Endkunden.
Unter dem Markennamen ROG (Republic of Gamers) stellt ASUS Gaming-Laptops her, die bei Spielern für ihre leistungsstarken Spezifikationen, dedizierten Grafikkarten, Displays mit hoher Bildwiederholrate und fortschrittlichen Kühlsystemen bekannt sind.

Die Kundenzufriedenheit mit ASUS-Notebooks betrifft Leistung, die Funktionen und das gute Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis der ASUS-Notebooks. Wie bei jeder Marke gibt es jedoch gelegentlich Berichte über Probleme wie Überhitzung, Treiberkompatibilität oder Probleme mit der Verarbeitungsqualität.
Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.
