The Zenbook 3 UX390UA is a stylish-looking (if you care for the blue/gold color scheme) and in use was quite responsive thanks to fast solid state storage and that Core i7 CPU, but it was not perfect. I must mention the fan noise again, as any time the CPU did any sustained work during my evaluation period the fan would spin up audibly, and remain there for some time. The combination of a thin unibody chassis and a 15W Kaby Lake Core i7 CPU does work with a conventional active cooling system, but you will hear the fan quite a bit.

There is good spacing between each key and I didn’t find any problems with accidentally tapping more than one key at a time. That may be OK for very casual use, but you’ll have to find a third-party adapter (with a spare USB-C port) if you want to connect more than one USB device at a time.

By going with a normal Core i chip, you're going to hear a humming fan occasionally, and you're going to be reaching for your charger a whole lot more often. So you can have power or runtime, but not both in an ~11 mm thick case.

I think you can tell that I like the Asus ZenBook 3 UX390UA quite a lot. If you've lusted over the 12" MacBook but are a Windows person, or if you've looked at the LG Gram laptops and found their lack of rigidity disconcerting, this could be the ultraportable for you. The Asus is every bit as well made as the MacBook, with an extremely rigid and well finished aluminum casing. The quad stereo speakers are louder and clearer than many larger laptops--in fact the ZenBook 3's speakers are louder and fuller than the 15.6" Asus ROG GL502 high end gaming laptop's speakers and are more clear for dialog than the HP Spectre x360's quad speakers. Performance is the same as any 13.3" Ultrabook, though we did note some thermal throttling under heavy, sustained load, but happily temperatures are surprisingly low.

Ein Laptop mit einer Bauhöhe von 11,9 kann als wirklich dünn erachtet werden und er konkurriert direkt mit dem 12 Zoll großen Macbook. Mit einem Gewicht von 910 g ist es sogar noch leichter als das MacBook 2016, welches 920 g wiegt. Um das Zenbook leicht, jedoch solide zu halten, wurde diesem ein Vollmetall-Gehäuse, das aus einem einzigen Block von Aluminium in Luftfahrtqualität heraus gefräst wurde, verpasst. Zudem nutzt Asus ein spezielles Design durch einen 2-Phasen-Eloxier-Prozess, um goldene Highlights an den Kanten des Laptops zu erzeugen. Der Laptop ist in drei Farben erhältlich, nämlich Rose Gold, Royal Blue und Quartz Grey. Allerdings könnte die Royal-Blue-Variante in einigen Ländern etwas mehr kosten, denn die Farbe erstreckt sich zur Tastatur und die goldene Umrahmung bedeckt auch die Tasten. In gewisser Weise sieht das Zenbook schöner aus das Macbook und Asus behauptet, dass es auch robuster ist als das Macbook. In puncto Hardware ist der Laptop mit einem Intel Core i7 Prozessor, 8 GB DDR3 RAM, einer Intel HD Graphics 620 Grafikkarte und einer 512 GB SSD ausgestattet. Der Prozessor kann dank Turbo mit bis zu 3.5 GHz takten. Mit dieser Hardware können mühelos viele Aufgaben gleichzeitig verzögerungsfrei ausgeführt werden, was für einen Business-Laptop wichtig ist. Dass ein Core i7 eingebaut ist, ist in Anbetracht der Bauhöhe etwas verwunderlich. Das Macbook schafft es nur einen Intel M Prozessor, der nicht wirklich auf ernsthafte Verwendung ausgerichtet ist, hineinzuquetschen, um das Profil dünn zu halten. In puncto Bildschirm verfügt der Laptop über einen 12,5 Zoll großen Full-HD-Bildschirm mit LED-Beleuchtung. Dieser Bildschirm bietet einen großen 72 % NTSC-Farbraum und ein 1.000:1 Kontrasterhältnis auf TV-Level für ultra-realistische Bilder. Der Bildschirm wird von Kante zu Kante durch Corning Gorilla Glass 4 geschützt, sodass dieser kleinere Kratzer und Beschädigungen übersteht. Der Laptop verfügt für Video-Telefonie über eine integrierte Webcam mit einer Auflösung von 0.3 MP, was für einen Business-Laptop wichtig ist. Das Asus ZenBook 3 UX390UA-GS039T ist mit einem Lithium-Polymer-Akku mit 6 Zellen und 40 Wh 6 ausgestattet, der bis zu 9 Stunden durchhalten soll. Der Windows-10-Macbook-Konkurrent verfügt über zwei integrierte Harman-Kardon-Stereolautsprecher und weitere zwei 5-Magnet-Lautsprecher, und damit über insgesamt vier eigenständige, qualitativ hochwertige Lautsprecher. Die Asus SonicMaster Technologie sorgt für kinoähnlichen Surround-Sound. Das Asus ZenBook 3 UX390UA-GS039T bietet eine Tastatur in voller Größe mit goldfarbenem Hintergrundlicht und im Touchpad ist ein Fingerabdruckleser verbaut. Dank eines Hubwegs von 0,8 mm lässt sich die Tastatur mühelos und schnell Tippen. Der Fingerabdruckleser ermöglicht schnelle und einfache Authentifizierung ohne Passwort oder PIN. Allerdings sind sowohl Tastatur als auch Touchpad in puncto Verwendbarkeit dem Macbook unterlegen. Netzwerkverbindungen sind via Dual-Band Wi-Fi 802.11ac und Bluetooth v4.1 möglich. Die Schnittstellenausstattung umfasst einen USB-3.1-Type-C-Port (10 GB/s) mit DisplayPort-Unterstützung, Audio-Ausgang, S/PDIF und einen SD-Kartenleser. Mit dem Zenbook 3 Deluxe hat Asus eine Aktualisierung der ZenBook-Serie angekündigt. Das Asus Zenbook 3 Deluxe UX490UA ist ein super-schlanker 13-Zoll-Laptop mit einem 14-Zoll-Bildschirm. Die Größe eines Laptops bedeutet nicht unbedingt, dass sein Bildschirm entsprechend groß ist. Tatsächlich ist der Bildschirm eines Laptops wegen des Rahmens normalerweise kleiner als die beworbene Größe. Daher hat Asus das ZenBook 3 Deluxe mit extrem dünnen Rahmen ausgestattet (7,46 mm breit), um dem Notebook die größt mögliche Bildschirmfläche zu ermöglichen. Einige könnten von der Full-HD-Auflösung enttäuscht sein, doch der Bildschirm enttäuscht nicht in puncto Bildqualität. Das glänzende Gorilla Glass des Bildschirms sieht großartig aus und die Farben strahlen gleich wie beim ZenBook 3. Asus spezifiziert eine sRGB-Abdeckung von 100%, was für Fotografen und alle, die lebendige Farben mögen, großartig ist. Das ZenBook 3 Deluxe übernimmt das Design von seinem jüngeren Bruder, der original ZenBook 3. Es handelt sich um den schönsten Premium-Laptop am Markt. Den navy-blaue Aluminium-Deckel zieren das Markenzeichen von Asus, konzentrische Kreise, und ein goldenes Logo. Die Kanten des Bildschirms weisen einen goldenen Akzent auf. Öffnet man den Bildschirmdeckel kommt ein 14-Zoll-1080p-Bildschirm und noch mehr navy-blau zum Vorschein. Im Besonderen ist die Tastatur blau mit goldenen Buchstaben (und einem Tastaturlicht mit Goldton), während der Bereich um die Tastatur und das Touchpad das selbe schöne blau aufweisen. Das Design ist subtil genug für Profis und dennoch attraktiv genug, um die Blicke auf sich zu ziehen. Die Hardware ähnelt stark dem ZenBook 3. User können zwischen Intel Core i5-7200U und i7-7500U Prozessoren wählen. Bei beiden handelt es sich um Dual-Core-CPUs, die sich gut für Bildbearbeitung und mäßige Office-Arbeit eignen. Sie werden mit 16 GB DDR4 RAM mit 2.133 MHz Taktrate und super-schnellen PCIe SSDs mit bis zu 1 TB Kapazität kombiniert. Zudem wird 802.11ac Wi-Fi und Bluetooth 4.1 unterstützt. Die Tastatur mit Hintergrundlicht hat einen etwas tieferen Hubweg von 1,2 mm, was für das Tippgefühl einen großen Unterschied macht. Das Touchpad wirkt fein und reaktionsfreudig und der nützliche Fingerabdruckleser an der oberen rechten Ecke ist ein willkommenes Extra. Im Inneren des ZenBook 3 Deluxe gibt es vier Lautsprecher. Da bereits das original ZenBook 3 beeindruckendes Audio lieferte, sollten dieses hier noch besser sein. Mit einem Gewicht von 1,22 kg (2,7 Pfund) und 33,92 x 21,34 x 1,27 cm (13 x 8,4 x 0,5 Zoll), ist das ZenBook 3 Deluxe dünner sowie leichter als die meisten Konkurrenten, obwohl seine Grundfläche wegen seines 14-Zoll-Bildschirms etwas ist. Zudem bietet das ZenBook 3 mehr Ports. Insgesamt gibt es drei USB-C-Anschlüsse, die alle zum Aufladen genutzt werden können. Zwei davon unterstützen zum Anschluss von leistungsstarken Displays und Speicher ThunderBolt 3. Beim dritten handelt es sich um einen einfachen USB-3.1-Port. Der Alu-Unibody zieht zudem Fingerabdrücke magisch an und zu guter letzt macht die latente (wenn auch zumeist recht leise) Dauerbeschallung durch den Lüfter nicht unbedingt Spaß. Dennoch sind das vielmehr Kleinigkeiten im Vergleich zu all den Pluspunkten, die das Asus-Notebook bei Design und Usability sammeln kann. Und letztlich sind auch die aktuell 1.200 Euro kein unangemessener Preis für die gebotene Qualität.

At least you can use an external webcam to replace the poor, low-res one that comes built in, but you shouldn't have to do that on a $1,700 machine. If you can handle a thicker laptop, consider the Dell XPS 13, which is still our favorite notebook. It lasts longer on a charge, and offers strong performance and a wide variety of ports. Although you can get it starting at $800, I'd recommend starting at the $1,000 or $1,350 configurations for better specs. If you were looking at dropping $1,700 on the ZenBook 3, that's a deal. But if you're going for style points, the ZenBook 3 Deluxe earns top marks. Whether you're at work, the office or home, someone's going to notice your laptop.

Das Asus Zenbook UX490UA gewann einen 2017 iF Design-Award. Sein erstaunliches Aussehen und seine ausgezeichnete Verarbeitung sind beeindruckend. Es ist beinahe unmöglich ein 14-Zoll-Display in solch ein kompaktes und elegantes Gehäuse zu packen. Für die Techniker war es nicht einfach, einen 14-Zoll-Bildschirm in einem 13-Zoll-Gehäuse unterzubringen, doch es erforderte jedoch nur Minimieren des Bildschirmrahmens, der nur 7,46 mm breit ist. Das Zenbook profitiert von der Kombination aus Schönheit und Leistung, die dem User eine ausgewogenes Verhältnis aus Produktivität und Portabilität bietet. Es wiegt nur 1,1 kg, doch mit einer Bauhöhe von 13 mm gehört das Zenbook zwar nicht zu den schlanksten Geräten am Markt, reiht sich jedoch diesbezüglich weit oben ein. Für eine flüssige und nahtlose Erfahrung ist das Zenbook 3 erstaunlich klappbar, was das fantastische Anmutung ergänzt. Um sicherzustellen, dass das Gerät erstaunlich leicht ist, wurde es aus Materialien, die stärker als jene sind, die man in normalen Laptops antrifft, präzisions-gefertigt ohne Kompromisse bei der strukturellen Integrität einzugehen. Der Bildschirm ist kantenbündig von 0,5 mm Corning Gorilla Glass bedeckt, sodass sich dieses Gerät unter den Konkurrenten als robusteste Version aller Zeiten darstellt. 178 Grad Blickwinkelstabiliät, ausgezeichnete Farbdarstellung und 300 cd/m2 machen die Verwendung des Bildschirms angenehmer. Am Bildschirmdeckel befindet sich ein einzigartig goldfarbenes ASUS-Logo, das gut zum goldfarbenen Hintergrundlicht der Tastatur passt. Die beiden Farboptionen, nämlich Quartz Grey und Royal Blue, leiten sich von der Natur ab und harmonisieren gut mit der luxuriösen Gold. Die Tastatur des Zenbook ist angenehm und genau. Dieser Mischtyp eines Laptops bietet seine eigene Auswahl an Profi-Merkmalen wie einen Fingerabdruckleser in der oberen rechten Ecke für zusätzliche Sicherheit und Windows 10 Pro. Dieses winzige Zenbook verfügt über leistungsstarke Lautsprecher, deren Sound einen Raum füllen kann. Die Kopfhörerbuchse und die Ladeschnittstelle befinden sich an der linken Seite diesen schlanken und leichten Zenbooks. Ein Intel Core i7 Prozessor und bis zu 16 GB 2.133 MHz RAM sorgen für ausgezeichnete Leistung. Das ultra-schnelle Zenbook 3 kann dank neuestem USB-C mit Thunderbolt 3-Unterstützung Daten mit bis 40 Gbps übertragen. Das Zenbook 3 Deluxe ist sofort durch sein legendäres Zen-inspiriertes Design erkannbar, welches das Unibody-Gehäuse ziert. Sein Akku kann bis zu 6,52 Stunden durchhalten. Mit dem Zenbook 3 Deluxe hat Asus eine Aktualisierung der ZenBook-Serie angekündigt. Das Asus Zenbook 3 Deluxe UX490UA ist ein super-schlanker 13-Zoll-Laptop mit einem 14-Zoll-Bildschirm. Die Größe eines Laptops bedeutet nicht unbedingt, dass sein Bildschirm entsprechend groß ist. Tatsächlich ist der Bildschirm eines Laptops wegen des Rahmens normalerweise kleiner als die beworbene Größe. Daher hat Asus das ZenBook 3 Deluxe mit extrem dünnen Rahmen ausgestattet (7,46 mm breit), um dem Notebook die größt mögliche Bildschirmfläche zu ermöglichen. Einige könnten von der Full-HD-Auflösung enttäuscht sein, doch der Bildschirm enttäuscht nicht in puncto Bildqualität. Das glänzende Gorilla Glass des Bildschirms sieht großartig aus und die Farben strahlen gleich wie beim ZenBook 3. Asus spezifiziert eine sRGB-Abdeckung von 100%, was für Fotografen und alle, die lebendige Farben mögen, großartig ist. Das ZenBook 3 Deluxe übernimmt das Design von seinem jüngeren Bruder, der original ZenBook 3. Es handelt sich um den schönsten Premium-Laptop am Markt. Den navy-blaue Aluminium-Deckel zieren das Markenzeichen von Asus, konzentrische Kreise, und ein goldenes Logo. Die Kanten des Bildschirms weisen einen goldenen Akzent auf. Öffnet man den Bildschirmdeckel kommt ein 14-Zoll-1080p-Bildschirm und noch mehr navy-blau zum Vorschein. Im Besonderen ist die Tastatur blau mit goldenen Buchstaben (und einem Tastaturlicht mit Goldton), während der Bereich um die Tastatur und das Touchpad das selbe schöne blau aufweisen. Das Design ist subtil genug für Profis und dennoch attraktiv genug, um die Blicke auf sich zu ziehen. Die Hardware ähnelt stark dem ZenBook 3. User können zwischen Intel Core i5-7200U und i7-7500U Prozessoren wählen. Bei beiden handelt es sich um Dual-Core-CPUs, die sich gut für Bildbearbeitung und mäßige Office-Arbeit eignen. Sie werden mit 16 GB DDR4 RAM mit 2.133 MHz Taktrate und super-schnellen PCIe SSDs mit bis zu 1 TB Kapazität kombiniert. Zudem wird 802.11ac Wi-Fi und Bluetooth 4.1 unterstützt. Die Tastatur mit Hintergrundlicht hat einen etwas tieferen Hubweg von 1,2 mm, was für das Tippgefühl einen großen Unterschied macht. Das Touchpad wirkt fein und reaktionsfreudig und der nützliche Fingerabdruckleser an der oberen rechten Ecke ist ein willkommenes Extra. Im Inneren des ZenBook 3 Deluxe gibt es vier Lautsprecher. Da bereits das original ZenBook 3 beeindruckendes Audio lieferte, sollten dieses hier noch besser sein. Mit einem Gewicht von 1,22 kg (2,7 Pfund) und 33,92 x 21,34 x 1,27 cm (13 x 8,4 x 0,5 Zoll), ist das ZenBook 3 Deluxe dünner sowie leichter als die meisten Konkurrenten, obwohl seine Grundfläche wegen seines 14-Zoll-Bildschirms etwas ist. Zudem bietet das ZenBook 3 mehr Ports. Insgesamt gibt es drei USB-C-Anschlüsse, die alle zum Aufladen genutzt werden können. Zwei davon unterstützen zum Anschluss von leistungsstarken Displays und Speicher ThunderBolt 3. Beim dritten handelt es sich um einen einfachen USB-3.1-Port. Außerdem bietet der Laptop eine 3,5 mm Kopfhörerbuchse, jedoch keinen SD-Kartenslot. Das Zenbook 3 Deluxe ist definitiv ein erstklassiges Angebot von Asus, doch sein Preis ist heftig. Asus: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. ist ein großer taiwanesischer Hersteller von Computer-Hardware mit Sitz in Taipeh, gegründet 1989. Unter dem Markennamen Asus fertigt das Unternehmen eine breite Palette von Produkten, darunter Laptops, Desktops, Motherboards, Grafikkarten, Monitore, Smartphones und Netzwerkgeräte, Komplettsysteme und PC-Bauteile für Endkunden.
Unter dem Markennamen ROG (Republic of Gamers) stellt ASUS Gaming-Laptops her, die bei Spielern für ihre leistungsstarken Spezifikationen, dedizierten Grafikkarten, Displays mit hoher Bildwiederholrate und fortschrittlichen Kühlsystemen bekannt sind.
Über das Gaming hinaus werden eine breite Palette von Notebooks für unterschiedliche Anforderungen und Budgets geboten: von ultraschlanken und leichten Ultrabooks bis hin zu vielseitigen 2-in-1-Convertibles und budgetfreundlichen Optionen. 2023 hatte Asus einen Weltmarktanteil von 7% am PC-Markts.
Die Kundenzufriedenheit mit ASUS-Notebooks betrifft Leistung, die Funktionen und das gute Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis der ASUS-Notebooks. Wie bei jeder Marke gibt es jedoch gelegentlich Berichte über Probleme wie Überhitzung, Treiberkompatibilität oder Probleme mit der Verarbeitungsqualität.
Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.

14 Zoll Display-Grösse stellt ein Mittelding zwischen den kleinen Subnotebook-Formaten und den Bildschirmen der 15 Zoll-Standard-Laptops dar.
Der Grund der Beliebtheit mittelgrosser Displays ist, dass diese Größe einigermaßen augenschonend ist, gute Auflösungen mit brauchbaren Detailgrößen liefern und dennoch nicht allzu viel Strom verbraucht und die Geräte noch halbwegs kompakt sein können.
Früher waren 14 Zoll-Geräte sehr selten, jetzt stellen sie nach den 15-Zollern den Standard bei Laptops dar.
