First off, Battlefield 1. Playing the beta on the highest resolution possible (full HD) with everything set to Ultra but with DX12 off, we were getting frames as high as 100. The game’s overall framerate never dipped past 57 frames. Similarly, Rise Of The Tomb Raider’s Very High Preset in the same resolution, DX12 off returned frames as high as 92, with the lowest frames coming in at 26 for an average of 57 FPS. Those are impressive numbers from a notebook, and we’ll be putting the GL502VS under stress in more games during the review process.

The ASUS ROG GL502VS should have been a more affordable 15-inch solution but instead, it rivals the 15-inch Acer Predator 15 (G9-593) and fails to match its features and performance. Yes, sure the Predator 15 costs $100-150 more but these pennies are definitely worth it. Not only does the Predator 15 stands out with a more sturdy and pleasant build but also offers more storage configurations and always ships with an NMVe-enabled SSD. We also liked the keyboard and touchpad way more.

Asus Strix GL502VS-FY030T
Republic of Gamers hat Asus als Bezeichnung für seine auf Gaming ausgerichteten Laptops gewählt. Wir haben das Asus Strix GL502VS-FY030T hier. Das wirklich schöne Gerät verfügt über einen Bildschirmdeckel aus Aluminium und eine robuste Basiseinheit aus Polykarbonat. Die übrigen Teile sind vorwiegend aus Kunststoff. Es ensteht jedoch nicht der Eindruck, es wäre an einigen Ecken gespart worden, um den Preis zu verringern. Verglichen mit anderen Modellen von MSI, Razer oder Asus ist es etwas dicker, doch die Leistung im Inneren ist so hoch, dass man das ignorieren kann. Eine sehr leistungsstarke Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 wird von einer Intel Core l7-6700HQ begleitet. Diese beiden Komponenten alleine reichen, um ein sehr schnelles System zu garantieren. Allerdings ist der Laptop mit einer herkömmlichen Festplatte ausgestattet. Selbstverständlich können Sie diese durch eine SSD ersetzen, um das System noch schneller zu machen. Ein Kritikpunkt ist, dass der Prozessor aus einer älteren Generation stammt. Es gibt bereits andere Modelle mit Kaby Lake Prozessoren, doch dieses Modell nutzt einen Skylake-Vorgänger. Gibt es einen großen Unterschied? Nun ja, er ist nicht so groß, dass er sich auf Gaming auswirken würde. Man könnte sich erwarten, dass die Systemtemperaturen unerträgliche Höhen erreichen, doch Asus hat zwei große Lüfter an der Rückseite und einen an der Unterseite des Gehäuses positioniert. Diese können das System kühl zu halten. Beim Gaming wird das System an der Unterseite heiß, doch wenn man das Gerät auf eine Oberfläche stellt, bemerkt man dies nicht. Handballenablagen usw. werden nicht heiß. Wie bereits erwähnt gibt es große Lüfter. Diese drehen hoch, wenn Leistung gefordert ist. Daher sind sie laut. Doch sie sind nicht zu präsent. Ein passiver Kühler unter dem Gerät hilft dem Kühlsystem und kann das Lüftergeräusch verringern. Ein matter IPS-Bildschirm kommt zum Einsatz. Er deckt sRGB vollständig ab und leistet gute Arbeit. User können Videos, Photos etc. genießen. Doch beim Akku verliert das Gerät seinen Glanz. Dieser liefert bei sehr leichter Last nur 3,4 bis 4 Stunden. Bei solch leistungsstarker Hardware war dies jedoch zu erwarten. Sind Sie ein eifriger Gamer, der keine Mobilität opfern möchte, könnte das Asus Strix GL502VS-FY030T mir nur 2,4 kg für Sie gemacht sein. Seine Schnittstellenausstattung ist auch zukunftssicher und bei seinem Preis kann man gewiss von einer guter Investition sprechen. Sollten Sie das Gerät jedoch hauptsächlich für Multimedia nutzen wollen oder nur ein Gelegenheitsspieler sein, der Minecraft oder ähnliches spielt, sollten Sie sich Alternativen ansehen. Selbstverständlich können Sie dieses schöne Gerät kaufen, doch es gibt billigere Modelle, die diese Aufgaben erfüllen. Das Gerät eignet sich gut für Gamer, die gerne mobil sind und ein ziemlich kleines Gerät mit sehr guter Leistung suchen. Diese Grafikkarten sollten alle modernen Spiele flüssig darstellen können. Anspruchsvolle Spiele müssen jedoch in mittlerer Detailstufe gespielt werden. Ältere und weniger anspruchsvolle Spiele wie die Sims Serie können auch in hohen Detailsstufen flüssig dargestellt werden.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Mobile: High-End Notebook-Grafikkarte mit 8 GDDR5-Grafikspeicher und zweitschnellste mobile Pascal-GPU nach der GTX 1080. Verfügt über 2.048 Shadereinheiten, taktet dafür jedoch etwas niedriger als die Desktop-Version (1.920 Shader). Die Max-Q Version für dünne Laptops (mit selber Produktbezeichnung) taktet nochmals geringer, bietet jedoch auch weniger TDP.
