Der Intel Core i5-1240P ist eine Mid-Range Notebook-CPU auf Basis der neuen Alder-Lake-Architektur, die im Januar 2022 vorgestellt wurde. Die CPU basiert auf den Alder Lake-P Chip (für H und P-Serie) und bietet 4 der 6 Performance Kerne (P-Kerne, Golden Cove Architektur) und alle 8 Effizienzkerne (E-Kerne, Gracemont Architektur). Die P-Kerne unterstützten Hyperthreading (daher gemeinsam 16 Threads) und takten von 1,7 bis 4,4 GHz. Die E-Kerne takten von 1,2 - 3,3 GHz und sollen eine vergleichbare Performance wie alte Skylake Kerne bieten (z.B. i7-6300HQ ). Im Vergleich zum Core i5-1250P , bietet der i5-1240P eine geringer getaktete iGPU (-100 MHz) und nur "Essentials" vPro Management Features.
Performance
Durch die 12 Kerne sollte die Multithread-Leistung deutlich oberhalb der alten 28 Watt 4-Kerner der Tiger Lake Serie liegen (wie z.B. dem i5-1145G7 ). Im Vergleich zu der H-Serie wird bei längerer Last aber der TDP die Leistung limitieren. Bei der Einzelkernperformance sollte der i5-1240P dank der neuen Architektur auch ähnlich schnelle Tiger Lake CPUs abhängen können.
Grafikeinheit
Wie auch der Vorgänger, integriert Intel in Alder Lake eine Intel Xe basierende Grafikeinheit. Beim 1250P sind 80 der 96 EUs aktiviert und takten mit bis zu 1,3 GHz.
Features
Wie auch Tiger Lake, hat auch Alder-Lake-P WiFi 6E und Thunderbolt 4 (4x) teilintegriert. Der integrierte Speicherkontroller unterstützt DDR5-4800, DDR4-3200, LPDDR5-5200 und LPDDR4x-4267. Der integrierte Gaussian and Neural Accelerator (GNA) ist nun in Version 3.0 verbaut. Die Media Engine Quick Sync 8 ist die selbe wie in Rocket Lake und unterstützt MPEG-2, AVC, VC-1 Decode, JPEG, VP8 Decode, VP9, HEVC und AV1 Decode. Der Chip unterstützt nur PCIe 4.0 (x8 for GPU und zwei x4 für SSDs).
Leistungsaufnahme
Der Intel Core i5-1240P ist mit 28 Watt TDP und 64 Watt (PL2) max. Turbo Power angegeben. Gefertigt wird der Prozessor im modernen Intel 7 Prozess (10 nm).
AMD Ryzen 9 PRO 6950HS ► remove from comparison
Der AMD Ryzen 9 PRO 6950HS ist ein Mobilprozessor für große Notebooks (z.B. Workstation Laptops) basierend auf die Rembrandt Generation. Der SoC beinhaltet acht Zen 3+ Kerne (Octa-Core CPU) welche mit bis zu 4,9 GHz getaktet werden (Turbo) und SMT / Hyperthreading (16 Threads) unterstützen. Der Chip wird im modernen 6nm Prozess bei TSMC gefertigt und wurde im April 2022 vorgestellt. Als HS-Variante ist der TDP um 10W reduziert und dadurch eignet sich die CPU für dünnere Notebooks. Der PRO 6950HS ist die Business-Version des Ryzen 9 6900HX und bietet zusätzliche Management und Sicherheitsfunktionen (z.B. den integrierten Pluton Security Prozessor).
Die neuen Rembrandt APUs bieten einige Neuerungen, wie Support für USB4 mit 40 Gbps, PCI-E Gen 4, DDR5-4800MT/s bzw LPDDR5-6400MT/s, WiFi 6E, Bluetooth LE 5.2, DisplayPort 2 und AV1 Decode in Hardware.
Die CPU Leistung ist pro Takt vergleichbar mit den alten Ryzen 5000 APUs, dank des neuen 6nm Prozess sind die CPUs aber höher getaktet und dadurch etwas schneller. Die neuen Alder Lake-H Modelle (wie der i9-12900HK sollten durch die höhere Kernanzahl aber noch eine bessere Multi-Threaded-Performance zeigen). Durch den um 100 MHz reduzierten Turbo-Takt, sollte die Performance nur knapp hinter dem Effizienz-Spitzenmodell Ryzen 9 6980HS liegen. Im Vergleich zum ähnlichen R9 6900HX (45W, Übertaktung möglich), ist die Leistung bei längeren Lasten durch den verringerten TDP beim 6950HS limitiert.
Eine besondere Neuheit ist die aktualisierte Grafikkarte namens Radeon 680M , die nun endlich auf die aktuelle RDNA2-Architektur basiert und im 6950HS 12 CUs mit bis zu 2,4 GHz Takt bietet.
Der TDP ist bei den HS-Modellen mit 35 Watt spezifiziert, wodurch sich die CPU auch für dünnere Notebooks eignet.
