Sure, the RedMagic 6R is much more svelte than the 6, which is undeniably a good thing. But the tradeoff is no headphone jack and a smaller battery. These choices allow RedMagic to cut costs to offer something that's easily marketed as an affordable day-to-day device, but the software woes will have to be addressed for this to become a reality. Nobody wants to use a phone day in and day out that suffers from a seriously bugged launcher or missing/stuck notifications. This is totally inexcusable, especially when some of these bugs have been long-standing issues with the RedMagic line.

The RedMagic 6R is a very interesting and unique device. It splits the difference between an affordable flagship and a gaming phone, and boasts a Snapdragon 888 plus a gorgeous 144Hz AMOLED screen for just $499, which is an unbeatable value. Beyond the inspired hybrid design, quality materials, and capacitive trigger buttons, this handset also delivers blazing performance, whether you’re gaming or not. What’s not so great is RedMagic’s lackluster software, which negatively impacts everything from user experience to camera performance. Audio also takes a back seat here, with just a mono speaker and no headphone jack. Ditto haptics, which just feel lackluster. Finally, battery life is only average, which isn’t ideal for gaming. So yes, the RedMagic 6R is high on value, but there’s a lot more to the story, and ultimately, you get what you pay for.

Despite ditching the gamer aesthetic and built-in fan, the Red Magic 6R is arguably Nubia’s most ambitious gaming phone so far. That’s primarily due to its affordable mid-range price point, and the fact it doesn’t compromise on high-end specs. But, the 6R is far from perfect. The cameras and software are still more frustrating than fun to use, while a reduced battery capacity means you'll be reaching for the charger sooner when using the highest refresh rate. Nonetheless, there’s still plenty to like here. If you’re looking for a top-tier gaming phone without the traditional design or price tag, the Red Magic 6R is a great option.

In the end, if you’re considering a pretty but less aesthetic gaming phone, you should consider the ZTE Nubia Red Magic 6R smartphone. It has an impressive layout that may even leave some of the mid-range devices behind. Overall must-buy option for gaming enthusiasts. Although, the battery department is a little disappointing. In the same range, the second-best choice for gamers would be the Redmi K40 gaming edition, which also has almost similar features with less budget, So check this out in the meantime. As for this phone, you won’t regret a single penny for investing in the ZTE nubia Red Magic 6R phone.

The REDMAGIC 6R is the kind of device for users who want the performance and features of a gaming smartphone without the bulk. It doesn’t have flashy features but instead focuses on things that matter the most, like display, chipset, memory, battery, advanced wireless connectivity, and cooling. Our only gripe is the lack of stereo speakers and the odd placement of the loudspeaker. But other than that, this is a great gaming phone to have if you’re on a budget.

The Red Magic 6R sits in a very weird space, but it’s otherwise saved by its very affordable price tag. It’s not quite a gaming phone, since it ditches the active cooling fan and thicker design that typically define higher-end gaming phones. It still keeps its gaming software features, which helps it stand out, but it feels more like a slightly more gaming-friendly version of a regular old flagship than a real gaming phone. However, it’s also easy to be had for less than $600, undercutting phones like the Galaxy S21 and even many OnePlus models. You’re getting some really beefy hardware for not a lot of money, and you can’t beat that refresh rate and fantastic screen for the price. You’ve just gotta live with a design that your friends might think is a little gaudy, but hey, at least your phone can play Call of Duty Mobile better than theirs, right?

The Red Magic 6R is in an interesting spot. It starts at €499 for the 8GB of RAM 128GB of storage option, and at that price, it is good value. However, as a gaming phone, it lacks key features that put it behind the competition. A lack of dual speakers and poor design means it’s uncomfortable to use the shoulder triggers with a USB-C adapter in the device and even starts to hurt after a while. You also cover the speakers with the palm of your hand extremely easily while using the phone, and it can get extraordinarily hot after a long time of sustained performance. The software itself also leaves a lot to be desired. From 3DS emulation to your favorite titles on the Google Play Store, it handles a lot, even if it’s not necessarily the best gaming phone you can get. If you’re interested in Red Magic but are put off by some of the missing features, then the Red Magic 6 might be more up your alley.

So, what is a gaming phone? That’s the wrong question to answer. Because sure — the Red Magic 6R has a gaming-centric design that may turn people off, but makes it good for gameplay with the responsive shoulder button surfaces, alongside a fluid 144Hz display, powerful Snapdragon 888 processor and liquid cooling. But in making these decisions, Nubia has accidentally made one of the best flagship killers out there. The build is premium, performance is fast and responsive, and the screen is gorgeous. Provided you can look past the average cameras, and the gamer-fuelled hardware design and Android skin, this is a great device for power users that offers seriously good value for money.

I'm pretty torn when it comes to the RedMagic 6R. The price for the hardware you get is pretty great, especially during a worldwide chip shortage, and the absence of the internal fan means there are no moving parts to break. But the software that controls this exceptional hardware is frustrating in everyday use, which is what RedMagic was supposed to be targeting with the slimmer profile and mainstream features. The Red Magic 6R is a powerful and well-priced handset. But is it really and truly a gaming phone? There are some features to help tell it apart but, really, it's much like many other flagships of the moment. That presents a bit of a conundrum. What's its real purpose? It heats up more than Red Magic's chunkier alternatives, for starters, and while it's certainly got enough going on under the hood to crunch through gaming sessions, so have many other flagship products - ones that may also offer generally better software and camera experiences. Ultimately, it's been a cinch using the Red Magic 6R, because the experience hasn't brought physical size irks or really any additional major compromises. That it's blurred the meaning of what a gaming phone can be is more a moment of contemplation. After all, at this asking price, you might not be bothered about the gaming angle at all - and just want an affordable alt-flagship without the in-your-face typical gaming aesthetics.

Red Magic 6R full review. BUDGET SD888 gaming phone, a cut-back version of the Red Magic 6 but should you get it over the RedMagic 6? 144hz AMOLED, 360hz touch rate, 400hz gaming triggers, 4200Mah battery, dual nano-SIM and runs Android 11.

The nubia Red Magic 6R is a good gaming phone with universally likable aesthetics and powerful hardware. It has gaming triggers and suitable software to handle everything gaming- and performance-related. The charge-separation feature is quite a thoughtful addition, too. It's not the best gaming phone, that's for sure - it omits stereo speakers and a 3.5mm jack, the battery life is not impressive, and it could benefit from an improved software package. No phone, especially priced at €499, needs to be perfect. It needs to be good enough for the price, and the nubia Red Magic 6R is more than good enough - it has the best Qualcomm chip, one of the best screens on the planet, and useful gaming triggers. We recommend giving it a chance for its all-around package - the Red Magic 6R is a good phone for any purpose, gaming included.
