Die Bedeutung von Redmis Note-Reihe kann nicht übersehen werden, denn Xiaomi erlangte mit genau diesen Smartphones Ansehen und weltweite Beliebtheit. Das Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro ist das neueste Gerät dieser Reihe. Kurz gesagt soll dieses Smartphone den Preis mehr als wert sein. Während die meisten Konkurrenten die Grenzen von Spezifikationen und Preisen erweitern, blieb das Redmi Note 9 Pro bei seinem altbewährten Rezept – sehr gute Leistung und ausreichend gute Bildwiedergabe zu einem Preis, der für so gut wie jeden erschwinglich ist. 

Das ganz neue Aura-Balance-Design des Redmi Note 9 Pro setzt den Schwerpunkt auf Gleichgewicht. Es ist eine direkte Erweiterung der Designsprache, die mit dem Note 7 Pro eingeführt und dem Nachfolger, dem Note 8 Pro, weitergeführt wurde. Die Rückseite des Smartphones besteht aus einer glänzenden Scheibe Gorilla-Glas-5. Es ist zweifellos ein Magnet für Fingerabdrücke und Kratzer, man kann aber ein ständiges Putzen mit der mitgelieferten Schutzhülle vermeiden.

Zudem hat das Redmi Note 9 Pro einen Fingerabdruck-Leser, der in die Power-Taste integriert wurde. Somit kann man das Gerät extrem schnell entsperren. Die Taste ist gut positioniert, man kann das Smartphone locker mit einer Hand benutzen. Der Lautstärkeregler ist allerdings zu weit oben positioniert, dafür braucht man schon zwei Hände. An der Unterkante befinden sich ein USB-C-Anschluss und ein Kopfhöreranschluss. Ein kombinierter Steckplatz für zwei Nano-SIM-Karten sowie eine Mikro-SD-Karte für Speicherplatzerweiterung ist auf der linken Seite vorzufinden.

Der Bildschirm ist etwas größer geworden, er hat nun eine Diagonale von 6,67 Zoll mit einer Auflösung von Full-HD+. Für die Vorderkamera gibt es eine Aussparung. Die Bildrate ist jedoch nicht sehr hoch im Vergleich zum Pendanten, dem Poco X2, oder einem Rivalen wie dem Realme 6 Pro. Dies könnte für manche, wenn nicht alle, Nutzer einer der Nachteile sein. Im Inneren des Redmi Note 9 Pro stecken ein Snapdragon 720G und eine Adreno 618 GPU für Grafikaufgaben.

Der Akku des Smartphones hat eine Kapazität von 5.020 mAh, was mehr als genug für einen ganzen Tag intensiver Nutzung ist. Das Quad-Kamera-Setup besteht aus einem 8-MP-Ultra-Weitwinkelsensor, einem 2-MP-Sensor für Schärfentiefe und einem 5-MP-Makrosensor. Die Hauptkamera ist ein 48-MP-Samsung-GM2-Sensor. Alles in allem hat das Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro seine Vor- und Nachteile, die man vor dem Kauf erwägen sollte.
