The software is always my biggest bug-bear with Xiaomi products and the main reason that I so rarely rate any of them above four stars. To be clear though, it’s not unusable by any stretch. If you want a cheap Android tablet that rivals the entry-level iPad, it’s still worth getting the Xiaomi Pad 7. The software is frustrating in places but you’ll soon get used to it. And everything else about the Xiaomi Pad 7 more than makes up for those teething problems. The performance is speedy enough to rival tablets that cost over £100 more, the display is sharp, bright and colour-accurate, battery life is some of the best around and the aluminium build is both sleek and sturdy. For this bargain price, you won’t find better than the Xiaomi Pad 7.

After a lengthy review, we have arrived at a rather brief conclusion: With the Xiaomi Pad 7, you end up with an amazingly good Android tablet. Its qualities do not necessarily lie in a thick bunch of specifications. Rather, it is the excellent accessories and the customized operating system that make the tablet a good everyday companion. The display also proved to be impressive, offering great image quality despite using LCD technology and the lack of a matte coating option. The precise pen input is in no way inferior to competitors such as Apple and Samsung. In terms of performance, the integrated Snapdragon SoC was impressive in both everyday use and gaming. However, it is regrettable that there is only a maximum capacity of 256 GB of storage space.

Yes, Xiaomi's tablet looks more like an iPad than ever, especially with Xiaomi's new "Focus Keyboard" that is built exactly like Apple's Magic Keyboard. But if you can get over the lack of originality, this is a tremendous Android tablet that is excellent at work and play at a much lower price than Apple's tablet. The Xiaomi Pad 7 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 and has a 144Hz refresh rate screen with thin bezels. The new Focus Keyboard is excellent, and props up the tablet off the table by an inch or two.

The Xiaomi Pad 7 proves itself as a remarkable tablet because of its budget-friendly nature following my extensive use period. Performance along with display quality and battery performance are outstanding features of this tablet. The device works well for users who need it to handle both work-related activities and gaming tasks. The tablet delivers excellent worth while falling short of flagship tablet luxury experiences. Xiaomi Pad 7 operates well as a budget-friendly tablet because it combines exceptional sound output with high-quality display and adequate battery life. The device provides functionality for students and professionals and other users who seek entertainment purposes between different device usages.

Priced at Rs 27,999 onwards, the Xiaomi Pad 7 ticks all the boxes for being a portable workstation. With a premium build, an appealing display, powerful performance, and a suitable set of software features, the tablet is a good option for students and working professionals looking for a portable device that can serve multiple purposes. However, the absence of a microSD card slot and cellular connectivity may limit its appeal for some users.

It does bring a lot to the tablet table, but unlike its predecessors, the ‘regular’ Xiaomi Pad 7 is not a “no-brainer,” thanks to the very high-profile competition hovering around it. It is, nevertheless, one of the best options for those who want a good Android tablet that can do it all – tab, sketch, type, notebook – without paying too steep a price. Go with a Bluetooth keyboard or the basic keyboard cover (the Focus Keyboard is more cool than useful and is a financial and physical burden) and the Focus Pen, and you have a very good tablet that can also double up as a decent notebook at a price in the region of Rs 40,000. And that is pretty good value for money by any standard.

The Xiaomi Pad 7 is a well-made and capable Android tablet. The software experience is well-sorted and using the device for productivity tasks is quite a pleasant experience. The device is also quite decent at media playback, although we would have liked to see an OLED display for a proper HDR experience. Combined with the company's keyboard accessory, the Xiaomi Pad 7 is a potent productivity machine. If you're primarily looking for something to work on documents or office files or for school work then you might be better off picking up one of these over a cheap laptop.

The Xiaomi Pad 7 ticks almost all the right boxes. The tablet has a gorgeous display with Dolby Vision and quad speakers with Dolby Atmos for entertainment lovers. It offers snappy performance and multitasking features for users looking to be productive or playing games on the go. It does miss out on a few things like an OLED panel, a fingerprint scanner, and cellular connectivity, but those are not exactly deal breakers barring the last one. The Xiaomi Pad 7 is a tablet that offers the maximum value for its asking price, even if you include accessories like a stylus and keyboard. It is truly a worthy iPad opponent and a better choice for many buyers.

Drawing up the competitive landscape for a tablet is a tad bit tricky I feel. I say that because unlike smartphones, pure performance or raw specs can’t really be the primary deciding factors while buying a tablet… considering that the main use cases for a slate are streaming, reading, drawing and regular productivity-based tasks. Unless you’re a power user or your main use case of buying a tablet is gaming. And thanks to their beefy batteries, most tablets are able to deliver respectable battery life too. In my opinion, the most important factors to consider while choosing a tablet are aspects like screen quality, audio, the software experience, ecosystem features, and accessories (such as the keyboard and pen).

The Pad 7 isn’t trying to be an iPad clone; instead, it carves its own identity in the market with unique features and capabilities that make it stand out. For anyone seeking a premium tablet experience without the premium price tag, the Xiaomi Pad 7 offers a compelling alternative that doesn’t just compete – it excels. The Pad 7 is a versatile tablet suitable for students, creative professionals, and general users, showcasing Xiaomi’s maturity in the tablet market by enhancing user experience affordably. Three generations into their tablet journey, Xiaomi has finally mastered creating exceptional tablets that transcend the typical Android tablet experience. The Xiaomi Pad 7 isn’t just another addition to the market; it’s a statement piece that demonstrates Xiaomi’s commitment to excellence without the premium pricing typically associated with high-end tablets.

Okay, let me wrap up this review of the Xiaomi Pad 7 now. And based on everything I’ve talked about, it’s clear that this is a fantastic midrange tablet that gets a lot of things right. A fantastic midrange tablet that checks a lot of boxes… whatever you wanna say. I’m still kinda bummed that we didn’t get an OLED display this year as previously rumored but Xiaomi’s latest midrange tablet hits just right. And if you’re looking to spend 25 – 30,000 Indian rupees on a brand-new tablet, the Xiaomi Pad 7 is easily the best option out there. The thing is, this segment doesn’t even have much competition to begin with. There’s the 10th Gen iPad and Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S9 FE (review) if you’re willing to extend your budget to some 35,000 rupees.

I found the Xiaomi Pad 7 to be an interesting tablet. I might have skipped multiple generations of Android tablets (and I was right to do so), but the newer Android slates are surprisingly good and powerful enough to provide a fluid experience.

Absolutely. If you’re looking for a good Android tablet under Rs 30,000, or a tablet with a matte display — similar to the iPad Pro —under Rs 35,000, the new Xiaomi Pad 7 is a compelling option. The Pad 7 is powerful and can easily handle your entertainment needs, including hours of binge-watching, casual gaming, and more. It’s lightweight, easy to carry around, and even convenient for casual video or office calls. And if you opt for the keyboard accessory, you can use it like a laptop for writing reports, mails or just your thoughts. And if you are someone who likes to doodle or are into digital art you can get the tablet with the pen.

The Xiaomi Pad 7 delivers a seamless performance experience, standing out as a reliable tablet for productivity, gaming, and multimedia consumption. The anti-reflective Nano-texture display is surprisingly promising, in addition to its ultra-slim 6.18mm solid metallic design and remarkable quad-speaker sound experience. It delivers a well-rounded performance, combining a powerful chipset, ample RAM, and UFS 4.0 storage for smooth multitasking and gaming. Moreover, the HyperOS 2.0 (Android 15) with AI-powered productivity tools, long-lasting battery life, and support for Focus Pen support and Focus Keyboard, further elevates the experience.
