The Xiaomi 14T Pro serves up the same main camera sensor as the dinky flagship from six months ago, serving up excellent natural looking photos. You can boost the picture brightness and vibrancy if wanted and shoot up to 8K resolution video - while the Xiaomi 14T Pro also offers a slew of movie modes. Battery life has been good these past few days, unless you get gaming on Wuthering Waves etc for any length of time. Playing games does make this phone heat up quite quickly, due to the Dimensity 9300 Plus chipset which powers it. Still, the Xiaomi 14T Pro maintained a mostly smooth frame rate even over time.

It's among the fastest charging phones in the industry and it's got a 144Hz display, and that's in addition to a high-end chipset and a camera system that only falls short in one or two niche areas. Admittedly, if selfies are of utmost importance, one of the niche areas becomes more of a pressing issue. Similarly, if you're into closeups, you'll probably need to look elsewhere (or try to work with the main camera, because the ultrawide and the telephoto won't be of much use).

It's too much to assume that Xiaomi would retain a similar aesthetic next year, but the chassis has a distinctiveness that you don't get with other devices in this category. There's plenty to like in other areas as well; the AMOLED panel gets brighter, the hardware is among the best around, and the main camera at the back is incredible. The software feels much better than previous years, and while you don't get any AI features out of the box, that's bound to change over the coming months. Xiaomi still needs to do better with its auxiliary cameras; they're not quite on par with the Xiaomi 14, and that takes the shine off the 14T Pro to an extent.

There’s not really a box the Xiaomi 14T Pro doesn’t tick for the money. It’s plenty powerful, can easily last all day, charges ridiculously quickly, and has a very tidy display. You’re also spoilt for storage options, with a massive 1TB available if you don’t mind spending a little extra; that’s something you won’t get from many mid-range rivals. I’m a big fan of Xiaomi’s Leica-led image processing, and while overall quality isn’t quite on par with the more expensive alternatives, this is still a very convincing camera phone. It doesn’t feel like an especially big leap forward from the outgoing 13T Pro, although top marks to Xiaomi from making the switch from a polycarbonate frame to a metal one.

ARM Immortalis-G720 MP12: High-End Grafikchip für Smartphones mit 12 der 16 möglichen Kernen. Basiert auf die neue "5th Gen" Architektur (Nachfolger von Valhall) inklusive Variable Rate Shading (VRS) und Ray Racing. Im Vergleich zum G715 sollen wieder 15% höhere Performance bei gleichen Taktraten möglich sein.

Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.
