The iQOO Z5 may not be a major upgrade in terms of specifications than the iQOO Z3, but it's all about the experience with this one. With better haptics and speakers, a slightly better processor, the IQOO Z5 does feel like a win. A trade-off you would be making though, is in terms of additional cameras as they could have been much better.

Although the iQOO Z5's upgrade over the predecessor is notable, the increase in pricing makes it a less desirable option, especially when considering the fact that it comes with a slower charging and skips the microSD card slot this time around. More importantly, though, vivo's decision to still run an LCD panel, albeit 120Hz, will surely steer away some potential buyers. And while the iQOO Z3 was kind of a sensible 5G-enabled solution at the time, things have changed over the last couple of months, and competitors have also boarded the 5G train. This means that 5G can't be the phone's only selling point anymore.

iQoo Z5 at Rs 26,990 (12GB+256GB) offers good gaming performance, display and battery life. All these features make iQooZ5 an ideal device for someone looking for a performance specific mid-range smartphone. The device’s camera offers impressive results overall apart from the low-light output that is above average. To wrap it up, iQoo Z5 with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G octa-core chipset is a good buy when it comes to mid-range smartphones with good overall performance.

The iQoo Z5 is available in two variants -- 8GB RAM and 128GB storage option is priced at Rs 23,990. And the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant is priced at Rs 26,990. Looking at the price, I was expecting something more from the device, the kind of value its predecessor iQoo Z3 provided. There are meaningful upgrades in iQoo Z5 but the price tag seems too heavy for this phone as its gaming credentials may not help the device survive in a competitive market.

While the iQoo Z3 with its sub-Rs. 20,000 starting price seemed to offer good enough value for money, the same cannot be said about the Z5, because its base price is Rs. 23,990 in India. The iQoo Z5 does offer some improvements over the iQoo Z3 (Review), namely stereo speakers, a bigger battery, and a newer processor, but that isn't enough to take on other popular phones that cost around Rs. 25,000. iQoo does officially plan to pull the plug on the Z3, but it's still on sale at as little as Rs. 17,990 (6GB RAM + 128GB storage) online for now. The Z5 in comparison, is not a big enough step up in terms of overall performance and does not offer enough value. There are better smartphones available from the competition at similar prices. From a hardware standpoint you do get the powerful Snapdragon 778G SoC, 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, but the competition includes the Realme GT Master Edition (Review) which offers similar specifications with a much better Super AMOLED display, good camera performance, and 65W fast charging, for Rs. 25,999.

Wrapping up this review, the iQOO Z5 is a decent mid-range phone with snappy performance. But the fact that it still hosts an IPS display is kind of a major letdown, especially considering how other brands are offering a superior AMOLED screen at a similar price range. And compared to the competition, its cameras aren’t exactly on par either. So, instead of driving up costs with advertisements on IPL, iQOO, a brand that launched the iQOO 7, which is still the best phone under INR 35,000 in India, could’ve definitely done a better job by bringing more competitive phones. As of now, I’m sorry to say that the iQOO Z5 simply doesn’t strike the right note. I would rather recommend you the Galaxy M52 or the Xiaomi 11 Lite NE or the Mi 11X that are currently on sale at under INR 25,000 on Flipkart.

If you’re looking for a value proposition that is more focused on speed and performance along with a relatively clean UI, the iQOO Z5 is a worthy consideration, even though it comes with a few cons. It is also a big improvement over the iQOO Z3. Among the Snapdragon 778G phones we have right now, it strikes a good balance between key elements like price, software, performance, design and camera quality. For gamers on a tight budget and power users, the iQOO Z5 is a good deal at Rs 23,990, but an even better one if you can grab the discount coupon and bank offers during the festive sales.

The iQOO Z5 starts at Rs 23,990, and for the price, is a worthy option as it performs well and offers a good-looking, robust design. What’s more, the handset charges reasonably quickly too, offers loud stereo speakers and snappy biometrics. Of course, those looking for the best gaming phone will find it hard to turn a blind eye to the POCO X3 Pro. Moreover, folks who enjoy watching movies on their phones will be better off with the Realme GT ME (review), which costs more, albeit ships with an AMOLED display. Lest I forget, the Xiaomi Mi 10i (review) is still the best camera phone under Rs 25K. Clearly, the iQOO Z5 has a lot of competition, but I still feel confident in recommending the phone as it offers a well-rounded package that will suit most buyers. Do let me know which phone you would pick if you had a budget of Rs 25K in the comments below and as always, stay tuned to our blog for more tech coverage.

While the price may seem cheap, it’s a beast with advanced specs. The iQOO Z5 is really a big competitor in the lower mid-range category. It excels in several areas that attract many users. If you’re looking for the best design with built-in performance, this model could be an incredible choice. As you can see, there’s a great display, powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset, amazing camera, even the battery capacity is admirable. So what else do you need for your gaming purpose? This model really stands out for its spectacular features. Vivo did a great job of offering a great series. Whether you’ve used it or not, you can always try the Vivo phone. If you’re looking for alternatives options then definitely check the Xiaomi Poco X3 GT smartphone, on a similar budget.

iQOO Z5 is a very potent smartphone in all regards, especially for its price tag of just under Rs 25,000. It delivers a well-rounded performance with a very good display and smooth, lag-free operation that can easily last you more than a day's use on a single charge. The camera is decent for a limited scope of photography, but in case you want this to be your specific use case, you can probably skip this smartphone. What also might bother you is a slightly lacklustre operating system on the device. Though if you get used to it, it turns out to be quite handy with all its features. Other than this, the iQOO Z5 is all aces in our books, and anyone thinking of buying a smartphone in its price range should definitely consider it as a very good option.

Gaming is another reason you’d buy the iQOO Z5 and it certainly impresses in this regard too. Call of Duty: Mobile runs best on Medium graphics at High frame rates. Casual titles like Shadow Fight 4: Arena and F1 Clash can run at the highest settings with ease. The phone heats up around the cameras but the plastic body keeps it comfy and the thermals don't affect performance. The Game Space tool is simply a launcher with fancy graphics; no tools to block notifications or alter other settings.

After the evaluation, what surprised the author is that although the iQOO Z5 is a thousand yuan machine, its game performance and image capabilities are entirely in the first echelon among the thousand yuan machine. Snapdragon 778G + full-blood version of LPDDR5 memory + full-blood version of UFS 3.1 flash memory, forming a stable performance iron triangle. Although the SoC is not the flagship Snapdragon 8 series, it can also bring low power consumption and excellent performance, which can fully meet the needs of daily use and gaming. In general, iQOO Z5 has relatively balanced capabilities in all aspects and has no obvious shortcomings. It is indeed worthy of the title of “performance pioneer” and allows users to enjoy an experience closer to the flagship machine at a price of thousands of yuan.
