After going through different aspects of the Vivo X80 Lite smartphone, we concluded that this phone is a good option in the mid-range segment. At the same time, you’re getting almost everything that you can expect from a decent mid-tier phone, but at the same time, there’s nothing special about this phone. You will find the same features and perks in other brands with few alterations in the specs. But still, the overall experience would be similar. You can purchase this phone without any doubt, but first, we recommend you compare it to the alternative options. For that, we suggest you look at the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G, as it provides better software updates and a more stable camera experience. Finally, pick the best smartphone according to your requirements.

In our tests, the Vivo X80 Lite 5G’s photo mode did well in bright light and indoor scenes with limited contrast and little motion in the scene. In these conditions, the camera delivered accurate exposure and a fast autofocus performance. Fine detail was also rendered nicely, thanks to a wide depth of field even on all subjects in group portraits. Noise levels were generally low, but some noise could be noticed in blue skies. In low-contrast scenes, the camera also captured well-stabilized video clips, even with the videographer on the move, but for video, the level of recorded detail was generally low. Things started to fall apart slightly in more difficult conditions, with stronger contrast and/or at lower light levels. In high-contrast scenes, exposure and dynamic range would vary strongly across consecutive shots. As a result, several shots could be required to get a good image. In low light, the video autofocus could act erratically, and noise became quite noticeable. Overall, the Vivo X80 Lite 5G is best suited to portrait and landscape photography in not-too-difficult conditions. In scenes with motion or high contrast levels, strong instabilities make it a lot more difficult to capture a good image.

The Vivo X80 Lite 5G has good color fidelity, along with good uniformity for both brightness and color. Its biggest drawback is its readability in low-light conditions, where it exhibits instability — that is, even at the same ambient light level, the display produces different levels of brightness. Further, the device’s high brightness mode lends an unnatural aspect to skin tones in outdoor conditions. Although frame drops are rare when playing videos games, the X80 Lite 5G does not provide a comfortable user experience because it is not very smooth and shows visible aliasing.

The Vivo X80 Lite 5G attained an excellent global score thanks to its autonomy in moderate use and in calibrated mode, especially when gaming, streaming music and videos. But when tested on the go, the device struggled to maintain power and had a very low autonomy. The charging performance was decent with the 44W charger. It took slightly more than an hour to fully charge the device. The autonomy recovered after a 5-minute charge was 5 hours and 31 minutes, higher than the average. The Vivo X80 Lite 5G also received an excellent efficiency score. Indeed, the discharge currents were very low overall (except when tested on the go), meaning that the device was well-optimized. The charge efficiency, as well as the adapter efficiency, was excellent, but residual consumption was above average. Compared with devices from the same price range ($400 to $599), the Vivo X80 Lite 5G gets an excellent ranking thanks to a very good autonomy score and one of the best efficiency scores. However, the charging score is below average for this segment.

For a device in our High-end segment, the impressive camera performance of the Google Pixel 7 rivaled that of the Ultra-Premium Google Pixel 7 Pro. With both two models having the same primary camera and a nearly the same ultra-wide camera, the major difference in the setup is that the Pixel 7 is not equipped with a tele module like the Pixel 7 Pro. But as our results showed, that didn’t deter from the Pixel 7’s excellent camera experience. In still images, the Pixel 7 delivered nice skin tones and natural white balance in most test conditions. Target exposure was accurate, with a wide dynamic range and nice contrast, making the Google device a great option for portrait photography. The autofocus was fast and accurate, test images showed high levels of detail, and artifacts were well under control, with only some aliasing noticeable. On the downside, some noise was noticeable in the shadow areas of the frame. Zoom performance was where the Pixel 7 lagged behind the Pixel 7 Pro, due to the lack of a dedicated tele lens and a narrower field of view on the ultra-wide camera. In video clips, the Pixel 7 delivered good exposure and a wide dynamic range. The autofocus reacted swiftly and kept moving subjects in focus. Detail was good, especially in bright light, and the stabilization did a good job of keeping things steady. However, temporal noise was visible, especially in HDR and low-light scenes. DXOMARK tests video at the settings that provide the overall best quality. In the case of the Pixel 7, this was 4K resolution at 30 frames per second, with the HDR10+ option disabled.
