Vivo V20 Pro retails at Rs 29,990. The phone will compete directly with OnePlus Nord and Samsung Galaxy M51. Is it a good choice?. With really fast charging and good battery life, a solid processor and 5G connectivity, Vivo V20 Pro can surely be a popular choice in mid-range category devices.

The Vivo V20 Pro is a solid mid-range smartphone, offering good specs and performance in a device that has a beautiful design. Vivo made good choices in the camera department and the display is great for media consumption. It does not have a high refresh rate display like the OnePlus Nord, but I am fine with trading it for better cameras. The phone has a strong battery life, and it can charge super quickly. Overall, the V20 Pro is one of the best smartphones in the mid-range market segment and I do not have a problem recommending it.

The Vivo V20 Pro isn’t perfect, but it is a good all-round smartphone with so many things going for it. The phone comes with an FHD+ AMOLED screen, a great dual selfie camera, a smart processor with 5G capability, and a decent battery. Nevertheless, it lacks a high refresh rate screen and light and fluid user Interface compared to its competitor OnePlus Nord. On the other hand, the Vivo V20 Pro has an edge in terms of design and cameras. If you prefer a good looking smartphone with great cameras and have a budget set under INR30K, then the Vivo V20 Pro is a good option for you.

Having reviewed the vanilla V20 and also having the chance to do a hands-on review on the 20 Pro 5G, we can conclude that both devices deliver a similar user experience that not many would notice the nuances. Still, the V20 Pro 5G feels pretty fresh, and it's a gorgeous device, too. But being priced at INR 29,990, we fear that it would be yet another vivo handset that's too expensive for its own good. This high price puts the V20 Pro dangerously close to feature-rich competitors like the recently announced Xiaomi Mi 10i or even the OnePlus Nord.

It is the third V20 device from Vivo in a short period of time. And like its namesakes, it too brings a snappy selfie camera and a snazzy design to the table. But will that be enough for the Vivo V20 Pro to stand tall against the likes of the OnePlus Nord and the Pixel 4a?

The Vivo V20 Pro is a solid offering, and one that competes fairly well with the OnePlus Nord (Review). Features such as 5G, 4K 60fps selfie video recording, the crisp AMOLED display, and quick charging help this phone put up a strong fight against OnePlus' offering. However, the V20 Pro does fall a bit short on the value front. For it's asking price of Rs. 29,990, you could instead get the top-end variant of the OnePlus Nord, which has 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Throw in the 90Hz display and OnePlus' reputation for updates, and you have a product that's pretty hard to beat.

The Vivo V20 Pro is a likeable midrange smartphone with compact and premium design and lightweight built. Priced at Rs 29,990, the phone has all it takes to deliver an all-round performance, except for the user interface. Close competitor to the OnePlus Nord, the Vivo V20 Pro race past the former in terms of design and cameras but lags behind in terms of user experience and display quality. Despite its flaws, the Vivo V20 Pro is a one good option in sub Rs 30,000 price segment.

The OnePlus Nord reviewed by Ameya may seem like the best device to get in the mid-range. It’s priced right too with top-end hardware inside that’s available from as low as Rs 24,999. It will no longer be the stock Android alternative it used to be after OxygenOS 11, and it does not offer Android 11 just yet. But it’s not exactly a proper mid-ranger because it solely focuses on performance. The design is pretty basic.

For Rs 29,990, the V20 Pro offers a lot to like, including its powerful cameras and sleek design. As such if design, cameras and even fast performance is what you're looking for from your next phone, then the V20 Pro should definitely be among the top phones on your list. Yes, the price point does throw up curveballs in the form of the OnePlus Nord and even the V20 Pro's more affordable sibling, V20. But these are curveballs we feel the V20 Pro can tackle.

The V20 Pro runs Android 10 OS and Vivo has promised the Android 11 OS update in the coming weeks. The phone uses Vivo’s Funtouch OS 11 UI that offers a simple and sophisticated design. The icons are now smaller and rounder like the stock Android interface. The OS brings tons of new features such as S-Capture that lets you take screenshots and record the phone’s screen. The phone now also comes with a new iManager feature that shows your phone’s performance. Vivo has now also updated the Ultra Game Mode feature, and it now supports picture-in-picture that lets you launch messages or chat apps in a floating window mode while playing games.

So I think the best way I can describe who the Vivo V20 Pro is for is like this – if you’re already looking for the Vivo X50 Pro but do not want that gimbal-like stabilization, then get the Vivo V20 Pro. The main camera can also take some amazing pictures and the software experience is pretty basic, but it works and I don’t have any major complaints about it.

5G support makes the Vivo V20 Pro somewhat future-proof, but best of all, it's priced pretty aggressively at Rs. 29,990. It seems clear that Vivo is going after the OnePlus Nord with this model, but whether it succeeds or not will depend on the kind of support the company continues to offer after the initial months of sale. We'll be putting the Vivo V20 Pro to the test, so make sure you check back in at Gadgets 360 for the full review, coming up soon.
