Despite a few small issues with the smartphone, the Vivo Nex is one of the most exciting smartphones to be released in 2018, offering an embedded fingerprint scanner within the display and a pop-up front-facing camera.

Without a doubt, Vivo Nex has impressed us with its powerful and futuristic technologies embedded into it. However, the device experience ruins once you start using Vivo`s user interface.

The NEX is one of the most innovative phones of 2018. The software situation isn't ideal, but if you're in the market for a bezel-less phone with top-notch hardware, the NEX is one of the best devices available right now.

What makes the NEX a standout among the others are its four unique features, the in-display fingerprint scanner, the full-screen notch-less design, elevating camera, and SoundCasting tech.

The Vivo Nex is a great smartphone and a gateway for us to get the perfect notch-less phone with a huge screen. It does so many things right and solves these problems in a scientifically clever way. The use of a retractable front camera, using vibrations instead of a proper earpiece, giving the users a ton of features with the help of AI, they are all really great things about the phone. The phone is beautifully designed hence a beauty and with Snapdragon 845 and 8GB RAM, it is a beast in performance. Vivo Nex is truly both a beauty and the beast.

The Vivo Nex's clever engineering and fantastic notch-free screen serve as a model for other phones. But good luck finding it outside of Asia, India and Russia.

Obviously, there is still the pop-out camera that might get damaged or stop functioning due to its mechanical nature. If so, what kind of warranty will Vivo provide? How can you make the phone waterproof with a pop-out camera? There are still some questions that need to be answered before making this feature mass-marketable. In due time we are sure to get the answers.

Vivo Nex is one bold step by the firm, which is not as popular as Samsung or Apple, in a country which also happens to be one of the top smartphone markets in the world. The brand definitely has a name and is also one of the only firms to bring innovations right at the palm of an Indian. However, users may find it slightly sceptical to spend Rs 44, 990 initially. There are a lot of pros with the Nex. It gives you a notch-less, virtually bezel-less display along with an on-screen fingerprint sensor that’s a part of innovation but can still be improved. Not to forget the cool camera pop up mechanism that may seem like a gimmick but is thankfully more than that. You get the top of the line processor, ample RAM, amazing battery life and a great Super AMOLED screen.

So, what do we think of the Vivo NEX? There’s no doubt that the phone will be remembered as a milestone. Between the unique attempt at maximising screen real estate and the under-screen fingerprint reader, the top of the line specifications, this ranks up there amongst the most feature packed and cutting edge devices available today. The lack of IP68 protection, wireless charging and NFC are a definite miss but in exchange you get a gigantic screen, battery life that lasts a solid work day and the sheer coolness factor of that pop up camera.

Vivo should be commended to bring a phone, which could have remained in concept phase for a long time, to users and try to democratise future-looking features like screen-sound casting or a motorised selfie camera.

Vivo Nex costs close to Rs 45,000 in India. Given the kind of features it packs, the price is not surprising. The performance of the device is certainly smooth, and it ticks all the right boxes. My main issue would be the size of the device. The camera’s over-saturation of colours is another problem that needs fixing.

In an ideal world, the Vivo Nex, should have no competition. This is because it's in a league of its own. The Nex's in-display fingerprint scanner and pop-out front camera are technologies to marvel in 2018 when no-one else is doing them (at least not yet), and even though it isn't perfect, the Nex sets the stage for the future. That's saying a lot about Vivo, a company that has for long been called a cheap iPhone rip-off maker. It has come out and made something out of the ordinary for other OEMs to learn, adopt and evolve into something even more meaningful. Now, who saw that coming?

The Vivo Nex is a smartphone from the future which is gorgeous, immensely powerful, and loaded with impressive technologies. The OLED screen is superb, the rear camera is competent, and battery life is impressive. However, the software has niggles, the fingerprint scanner is unreliable, calls are hard to hear, and many flagship features such as waterproofing and wireless charging are conspicuous by their absence. In fact, these issues overshadow the phone's powerful processor.

The Vivo NEX seems to be the counterpart of the OnePlus 6 and it’s obvious that the OnePlus 6 is now facing the competition, the ZenFone 5Z is another contender that takes on the OnePlus 6. Vivo NEX is clearly ahead in terms of the features like notch-less display, elevating camera, in-display fingerprint scanner, and with its screen SoundCasting technology.

The flagship killer, OnePlus 6, offers a similar processor and RAM at a lower price (Rs 39,999), and the Asus Zenfone 5Z is even lower in price terms. And this is not to forget the big sharks in the sea, like the Samsung S9 and Google Pixel 2 which may be priced higher but have been in the market for a longer period and enjoy greater brand equity in the premium segment, and come into contention the moment budgets go up. It, however, speaks volumes that the Vivo Nex does not seem out of place in such August company, and even holds its own in the design, camera performance, general performance and battery departments. Although some will quibble about the absence of water resistance and of course, face unlock, we do not think these are deal breakers, considering what the Nex delivers. Yes, the pop-up selfie camera will get it attention, but this is a very solid performer overall.

The Vivo Nex is the most exciting phone I’ve seen in years. I’ve enjoyed using it, enjoyed the reactions I’ve gotten from those I’ve shown it to, and even enjoyed grappling with its shortcomings. It has made the smartphone experience fun and exciting again, but it’s as fraught with frustration and surprise as my earliest Android memories.

The vivo NEX S is nothing short of a monumental device. A cornerstone on the smartphone design roadmap. In a sea of "slab" design sameness, we really wanted to fall in love with vivo's design concept, turned mainstream. After spending quite a bit of time with it, we find it distinctly polarizing.

With its futuristic retracting selfie camera, an in-screen fingerprint scanner that actually works, and pretty much every single high-end spec around, the Vivo Nex takes a hammer to the idea 2018 phones are dull.

The Vivo NEX S is a glimpse into the future of mobile tech. Its pop-up selfie camera is fun, while it's under-screen fingerprint scanner is the best implementation of the technology to date. That said, the scanner isn't as good as a conventional one, while the phone's China-only presence and Funtouch OS make it difficult to work with for a non-Chinese audience.

Of course, Vivo NEX is the beginning of “future” of Vivo and it is also a summary of its technology sedimentation. It has an almost impeccable configuration. Regardless of the standard version and the Top version, the cool enough “zero boundary full screen” and “Pop-Up front camera” all solve the current controversial “bangs” problem; coupled with its hardware configuration and system optimization, let players Indulge in a “battlefield” experience on this 6.59-inch screen. In general, with innovative styling, top-level hardware configuration, mature system optimization system and blessing of AI artificial intelligence engine, Vivo NEX distance has become a market-recognized product, and in fact, only time is left.

The day many of us have been waiting for has finally arrived. A truly bezel-free smartphone is here! Sort of. Many have tried and many have failed, with the much-maligned notch emerging as the compromised offspring of those failed attempts to rid the smartphone of bezels. The Vivo Nex is the closest to a truly bezel-free smartphone we’ve seen come to market. It has very few compromises and no notch.
