The Portégé Z10t is a competent enough hybrid laptop/tablet device, although Toshiba has missed an opportunity to extend the battery life of the system by adding a second battery, however small, into the keyboard dock. As it stands, the battery life of just five hours is not good enough for a full working day, which hampers the effectiveness of such a lightweight and portable system that is clearly intended for mobile use.

Das Toshiba Portégé Z10T-A-111 liefert eine gute Leistung und eine umfangreiche Ausstattung. Im Tablet-Betrieb ist der Wacom-Digitizer ein Pluspunkt. Ein Manko ist die mit 220 Minuten kurze Akkulaufzeit.

Toshiba Portege Z10t-A2111

Das Toshiba Portege Z10t-A2111 ist ein weiterer Hybride, der versucht, am Markt Fuß zu fassen. Aus dem konventionellen Tablet wird durch anhängen eines Tastatur-Dock sofort ein ultraportabler Laptop. Es handelt sich um ein sehr gutes Gerät für jene, die ständig unterwegs sind.

Der 11-Zoll Hybride ist mit einem Intel i7 Prozessor der vierten Generation, 8 GB RAM und einer 256 SSD (das teuerste Modell) ausgestattet - eine leistungsstarke Kombination, die die meisten Aufgaben, die man erledigen möchte, schafft. Das Gerät bootet in weniger als 10 Sekunden und Programme öffnen sich im Handumdrehen. Die integrierte Intel HD kommt mit HD-Videos und leichtem Gaming zurecht. Die Akkulaufzeit liegt etwa zwischen 6 und 8 Stunden, und ist damit ungefähr so wie bei anderen Laptops dieser Kategorie.

Dank texturierter Rückseite, ist das Gerät im Tablet-Modus schön griffig. Die Lautsprecher befinden sich an der Unterseite. Sie sind nicht die besten und können durch anstecken der Tastatur blockiert werden, sodass sie einen dumpfen Klang erzeugen, wie einige andere Laptop-Tablet-Hybriden. Die Tastatur sieht nicht solide aus und wirkt ziemlich seicht, was einen Einfluss auf Tippkomfort und -geschwindigkeit haben könnte.

Insgesamt zahlt man hauptsächlich für die eindrucksvolle Hardware im Inneren und die Vielseitigkeit eines Hybriden, doch die Audio-Qualität ist schlecht und die Tastatur ist unangenehm.

As I said in the opener, I’m not convinced the world really needs laptops with detachable displays. If you really want a notebook that can behave like a tablet, I think Lenovo has a better idea in its Yoga 2 Pro. Lenovo’s machine, on the other hand, doesn’t have an active digitizer or pen. In the end, Toshiba’s Portege Z10t is the best detachable I’ve seen, and anyone who’s sold on the detachable concept will dig it.

Toshiba Portege Z10t is a 2-in-1 clearly targeting the business user who wants to have a work machine which also works as a tablet. The 11.6-inch screen size is definitely smaller for those whose main work involves working with spreadsheets, but for others dealing primarily with word documents or emails, the Z10t is a good choice. The performance is good, the touchscreen is quite responsive, audio isn’t the best. But the price point of Rs 98,000 is definitely on the steeper side considering there are a lot of options in that price range.
