Toshibas A600 besitzt einen Business-orientierten Charme und erinnert optisch stark an seine ultraleichten Geschwister der R-Serie. Auch die Hardware-Basis ist identisch, da Toshiba auf Intels Ultralow-Voltage-Core-CPUs setzt, was dem A600 zu einer passablen Performance im CPU-Bereich verhilft. Ebenso kann das A600-122 mit einer angemessenen Akku-Performance punkten. Leider erweist sich das Gehäuse aber als recht dick und hat mit zwei Problemen zu kämpfen. So biegt sich die Tastatur, die ansonsten überzeugen kann, bei normalem Druck leicht durch.

The Portege A600-S2201 should be considered a less expensive cousin of the high end Portege R600. The system has a slightly larger overall build and weighs a bit more, but it provides a decent experience for its price tag. The included Windows XP Professional downgradfe will definitely entice some but the build quality of this system isn't up to the level of most business class ultraportables. Toshiba also needs to but down the installed applications as it impacts performance.

With the growing popularity of netbooks, casual laptop users who need to check their email and browse the Net will find the slower Atom processor machines running either Linux or Windows XP adequate for the job. But “full notebooks” are better for business users who need to run Vista, work on productivity tasks (Office, Photoshop, etc.), need more ports and expansion slots and require an optical drive. The Toshiba A600 fits the role well. It’s one of the cheapest 12-inch notebooks on the market and it has good enough performance running most business applications and multimedia. Though not equipped with the fastest mobile processor, the Toshiba has an attractive price and that means more now to businesses and individual users.

Neither the R600 nor the A605 are the best-performing ultraportables we’ve tested. That honor goes to HP’s 2530p and Lenovo’s X200s (both also reviewed in August), which featured 1.86GHz Core 2 Duo procs. The R600 overcame this deficit with its near-weightlessness. The less-expensive A605 doesn’t have this special quality. It does, however, have respectable performance, a strong feature set, and a damn good price.

The Toshiba Portege A605 offers good looks and a small form factor, but compromises build quality to achieve its very low weight. The palm rest, keyboard, and screen all exhibit a good amount of flex, which doesn’t bode well for thoughts of durability. Looking past the flexible chassis, the notebook does offer a built-in optical drive, and still keeps the overall weight to just above 3lbs. For a business traveler who only cares about that, this notebook falls right in the weight range of most netbooks. With the current list price of $1,399 it is priced against the Lenovo ThinkPad X200 or about double the price of an HP Pavilion dv2. Overall I think the Portege A605 offers a lot potential for a customer interested in a good looking business notebook, but it has a few areas that could see some improvement.

Toshiba's Portégé A600-14C makes a very convincing argument for itself. It's light and portable, but manages to pack in loads of features, including integrated HSDPA and all the security features you'd normally expect from a business laptop. Only a collection of minor niggles and a slight concern over build quality precludes it from an award, but there's still plenty to commend here.

Zu den Produkten und Dienstleistungen des Unternehmens gehören Energie, industrielle und soziale Infrastruktursysteme, Aufzüge und Rolltreppen, elektronische Komponenten, Halbleiter, Festplatten, Drucker, Batterien, Beleuchtung, Logistik und Informationstechnologie. Toshiba war einer der größten Hersteller von Personal Computern, Unterhaltungselektronik, Haushaltsgeräten und medizinischen Geräten.

Diese Karten können nur sehr alte und sehr anspruchslose 3D Spiele flüssig darstellen.  Anwendungen wie Office, Internet surfen, Bildbearbeitung oder (SD) Videoschnitt sind jedoch ohne große Einschränkungen möglich.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 4500MHD: Im GM45, GS45 und GE45 Chipsatz (Montevina Plattform) integrierte shared Memory Grafikkarte von Intel. Durch höhere Taktung und mehr Shader ist sie deutlich schneller als die X3100, jedoch immer noch nicht für Spieler empfehlenswert. Kann HD-Videos (AVC/VC2/MPEG2) dekodieren und so die CPU entlasten.

Intel Core 2 Duo: Core Duo Nachfolger mit längerer Pipeline und 5-20% Geschwindigkeitszuwachs bei 0.5 - 3 Watt mehr Stromverbrauch.

Der Notebook Core 2 Duo ist baugleich mit den Desktop Core 2 Duo Prozessoren, jedoch werden die Notebook-Prozessoren mit niedrigeren Spannungen und geringerem Frontsidebus Takt betrieben. 73%: Diese Bewertung ist schlecht. Locker drei Viertel der Modelle werden besser beurteilt. Das ist eher keine Kaufempfehlung. Auch wenn Verbalbewertungen in diesem Bereich gar nicht so schlecht klingen ("genügend" oder "befriedigend"), meist sind es Euphemismen, die eine Klassifikation als unterdurchschnittliches Notebook verschleiern.
