Sony hat sein Mainstream-Modell sinnvoll weiterentwickelt und geht dabei keine Risiken ein. Abgesehen vom Fingerabdrucksensor, der clever platziert ist, hat sich im Vergleich zu den Vorgängermodellen wenig verändert. Deswegen ist das Z5 kein schlechtes Gerät. Die Kamera liefert zwar ein gutes Bild, jedoch sind Unterschiede zur Kamera des Z3+ nicht deutlich genug zu erkennen, als dass es sich lohnen würde, deswegen umzusteigen. Verändert hat sich auch die Glasrückseite, die nun nicht mehr glänzend, sondern matt daher kommt.

Available for order at $549.99, the Xperia X is a smartphone that doesn't disappoint, but feels a bit too expensive for what it offers. And thanks to its seniority, the Xperia Z5 is dangerously close in terms of pricing—nowadays you can score one for as little as $600. Taking these prices in mind, we're unable to recommend the Xperia X over the Z5. We like the way it feels in our hand better, sure, and its display is truly summer-proof, but in terms of camera and game performance, it's just not quite up there. The Z5 also comes with a great perk: water protection. A saving grace is the X's better battery life, but we didn't find that to be large enough of a lead to warrant a reconsideration on our part.

Each phone managed to draw blood relatively early on, but the final score can't simply be based on which phone took home the most victories. Price is an important consideration as well, on that front the Samsung Galaxy S6 seems to be leading, even if you have big storage requirements and go for the 128GB model. For that price you get the best screen, software focused on multitasking and security and a camera that works great in the dark.

The Sony Xperia Z5 is a beautiful smartphone. It looks good, feels good, sounds good, and almost performs good, unless you really want to game hard on your smartphone. Sony has bet big on its present generation flagship smartphone, but the Xperia Z5 does disappoint in a certain few factors. For one, the camera’s focusing speed is nowhere near the 0.03 seconds that was advertised, and in reality, is quite slow. Secondly, the heating issue still persists, and for a smartphone that bears a price tag of Rs. 52,990, such flaws are not really acceptable. It is a phone that is easy to love, and I have always loved Sony’s devices, but in terms of absolute performance, Samsung’s top-of-the-line Galaxy devices do perform better. The Sony Xperia Z5 is a saga of restricted beauty, and polarising opinions. You will love it for what it is, but you will simultaneously realise that there are other smartphones in the market, that are simply better in terms of core performance.

There’s a new and bigger camera sensor, but it doesn’t really make much of a difference. The internals are practically identical. Personally, I don’t think it’s worth upgrading if you already own the Z3+.

There's also support for more removable storage via microSD, although we suspect few users will take advantage of the full 200GB. However, with more than a £100 price difference between the Z3+ and Z5 when it launches, and no upgrades in the screen or core hardware, we would consider waiting for the price to drop a little before rushing out to upgrade.

Whether you want a small-, medium- or large phone you'll get almost the same deal. With what we expect will be very little difference in performance, your buying choice very much comes down to what size phone you need and how much you have to spend - with the Z3 and Z3 Compact we found with its similar specification but significantly lower price the Compact actually offered the best value.

Well, if you ever needed confirmation on that statement, it couldn't come in a more unequivocal manner than the launch of the Xperia Z5 family. Introducing a new, custom camera sensor, ticking the fingerprint checkbox, updating the looks and moving into a new large-screen flagship product category - all these moves are signs that Sony is keeping up with the times.

However, there’s no denying that the Xperia Z5 is an attractive beast, with a new frosted rear panel that’s more resistant to finger smudges. Building the fingerprint sensor into the edge of the phone was a genius move, as your thumb naturally rests there when you grip the handset, and the fact that you don’t have to swipe your digit over the sensor means that unlocking your phone is quick and effortless as well as secure. Plus, it makes the Xperia Z5 that little bit easier to use one-handed.

Sony Xperia Z flagships have had their ups and downs. Often pushing the specs, we loved the Z1, were less impressed with the Z2, thought the Z3 was great, before the mediocre Z3+ arrived. For some, the Z5 might be a little too close to the Z3+ for comfort, but our first experience with this new model has been good. It remains to be seen if the Z5 repeats the Z3+'s hot (literally) performance, so of course, we're looking forward to fully reviewing this new model in the real world and hoping that Sony has done enough for this to emerge as a true flagship.

We really like what we’ve seen from the Xperia Z5 so far. The design is refined and more premium, and its frosted glass back is as easy on the eyes as it is a pleasure to hold. Its newer, flatter power button/fingerprint sensor adds a genuinely useful, comfortable trick to the Z5’s arsenal, while that 23Mp camera promises to give LG and Samsung’s top guns a run for their money.

The Sony Xperia Z5 is going to be the phone that James Bond uses, and with a fingerprint sensor, high res camera and strong battery performance, you can actually imagine he might actually agree to put this one in his pocket. There are still some design question marks - although these are largely subjective - and the lack of spec upgrades is questionable... but all in all, there's enough here from Sony to get excited about, and that's what the brand needed.

Die Materialwahl ist eine sehr schöne Glas-Front und eine Metallkonstruktion an der Rückseite, die das gesamte Phone umgibt. Sony war schon immer dafür bekannt, dass es eine der besten, wenn nicht die besten Kameras überhaupt in ihren Phones verbaut. Das Xperia Z5 liefert den neuesten Sensor mit 23 MP, 5520 х 4140 Pixeln, Phasenerkennung, Autofokus und LED-Blitz. Sie kann Videos mit 2160p@30fps, 1080p@60fps und 720p@120fps aufzeichnen und HDR-Funktionalität ist verfügbar. Alle drei Modelle verfügen über den neuen Fingerabdruckleser, der an der Seite des Phones, dort wo sich der Stromschalter befindet, liegt. Ein weiteres großartiges Design dieses Phones sind die nach vorne gerichteten Stereo-Lautsprecher. Die Xperia Z5 Phones sind IP68 zertifiziert, d.h staubgeschützt und wasserresistent bis zu 1,5 Meter und 30 Minuten.

Das Standard-Model hat einen 5,2 Zoll großen Triluminos-Bildschirm mit einer Auflösung von 1080 x 1920 Pixeln. Die Hardware des Android OS, v5.1.1 (Lollipop) System inkludiert einen Qualcomm MSM8994 Snapdragon 810, der aus 1,5 GHz Cortex-A53 und Cortex A43 Quad-Core-CPUs besteht, eine Adreno 430 GPU und 3GB of RAM. The Android OS, v5.1.1 (Lollipop)-System verfügt über einen nicht entfernbaren Lithium-Ionen-Akku mit einer Kapazität von 2900 mAh, der laut Sony bis zu 2 Tage durchhält. It is capable of video recording at 2160p@30fps, 1080p@60fps, and 720p@120fps with HDR function available. All 3 versions come with the new fingerprint sensor, which is placed at the side of the phone where the power button is. Another great design of the phone is its stereo front facing speakers. The Xperia Z5 phones are IP68 certified, i.e. dust proof and water resistant over 1.5 meter and 30 minutes.

The compact version has a 4.6 inch 720 x 1280 pixels Triluminos display. Because of its lower price it is not as big and high-resolution than the standard model. The hardware of the Android OS, v5.1.1 (Lollipop) system includes a Qualcomm MSM8994 Snapdragon 810 consisting of 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 and Cortex A43 Quad Core CPUs and an Adreno 430 GPU. The only difference of the compact model to the standard model is that it does not have 3 GB of RAM. However, due to its lower screen resolution it should have no problems with only 2 GB of RAM. The non-removable Lithium-Ion battery rated at 2700 mAh is smaller than the standard model's. Sony claims that it will last up to 2 days. In addition, this device comes with 32 GB of flash memory and the storage capacity can be expanded with a microSD by up to 200 GB.
