Sony hat mit Xperia Z3+ ein besseres Sony Xperia Z3 geschaffen. Technisch wurden einige Verbesserungen vorgenommen, aber die großen Innovationen oder neue Features bleiben aus. Im Test gefallen haben uns am neuen Vorzeige-Modell der etwas schnellere Prozessor und das gute Display, aber auch der USB-Port ohne Schutzklappe sowie der schnellere LTE-Standard sind erwähnenswert. Beachtliche Verbesserungen gab es auch bei der Aufnahme von Videos in 4K. Zudem haben wir kleinere Änderungen am Design festgestellt. Weniger gut ist, dass das Sony Xperia Z3+ im Test schnell heiß wurde und bestimmte Prozesse wegen der Überhitzung einfach beendet wurden. Aber auch der fehlende Dockingstation-Anschluss ist uns ein kleiner Dorn im Auge. Ansonsten sehen wir in dem Highend-Gerät vor allem ein Update zum Sony Xperia Z3.

Das Sony Xperia Z3+ macht einfach Spaß, weil es als Smartphone so komfortabel ist. Ungeachtet der zögerlichen Produktevolution seitens Sony und der Schwächen des Geräts erleben wir doch ein sehr überzeugendes Gesamtpaket. Das Design ist nach wie vor sehr schick, die Verarbeitung kann sich sehen lassen und in Sachen Robustheit darf sich das Z3+ mit reinrassigen Outdoor-Smartphones messen.

The Sony Xperia Z5 introduces some nice upgrades over the Z3+, with an improved camera and a new fingerprint scanner. There's also support for more removable storage via microSD, although we suspect few users will take advantage of the full 200GB. However, with more than a £100 price difference between the Z3+ and Z5 when it launches, and no upgrades in the screen or core hardware, we would consider waiting for the price to drop a little before rushing out to upgrade.

Many have scoffed at the seemingly benign upgrades between Sony Xperia Z device revisions, somewhat rightfully criticizing Sony for rushing to update its flagship handsets twice a year. And as far as incremental, insignificant upgrades go, the Xperia Z3+ is arguably the worst It does look like Sony's irrational strategy finally got the best of them, as the Xperia Z3 is, essentially, last year's smartphone with a new generation chipset that's somewhat more powerful, but tends to heat up and is not as power-efficient, contributing to significantly worse battery life. Save for the fine 5MP front camera and the faster LTE Cat 6 support, there are no meaningful usability improvements whatsoever to counteract the aforementioned problems.

We are again presented with great build quality and design. Maybe not so practical as the glass on the back is slippery and the thin profile makes it uncomfortable to hold and operate with one hand. However, most users will not notice this as much. On the other hand, a lot of users have reported that the cap for the micro USB port wears off quickly on the Xperia Z1, Z2 and Z3 thus losing its water resistant properties. Sony has eliminated the problem here with removing the cap for the micro USB port – it’s a small but really noticeable change. The screen is again of a great quality and we are happy to see that Sony kept this panel for the release of the Xperia Z3+ – it’s just flawless.

Unfortunately, Sony may not do as well as the other Android OEMs out there, and that is really a shame, since there are quite a few die-hard fans of Sony devices. Their products are fantastic, but they just don’t seem to appeal to the mass market. That is something they can capitalize on though by catering to the niche market, by focusing on features such as audio, and the IP certification.

No, it’s not worth considering. It isn’t a wholly bad phone, but the camera overheating issues are a fundamental flaw you cannot ignore. Overheating when shooting 4K video is one thing, but doing so when just taking photos is something else.

In not levelling-up the camera, the photo side also falls behind the competition from Samsung and LG, and while the battery is still very good, it's not quite as good as its own predecessor the Z3. Still, that battery life remains class-leading, while its classy UI and a super-bold larger-than-life screen deserve to win it a healthy crop of fans. The Z3+ is a faster version of an already very fast smartphone, and few users would complain that the Z3 is slow. However, the processor change brings it up to speed with its 2015 smartphone rivals, and we appreciate the extra storage space as standard (and Sony has managed it without removing the microSD card slot). The other improvements are nice, but unless you're a Sony enthusiast there's little here to warrant the expense of an upgrade from the Xperia Z3. In fact, we still highly rate the Z3 Compact - a smaller version of Sony's Z3 with a much more attractive price of £280 (Amazon), and that could well be half the asking price of the Z3+.

Es ist in vier Farben verfügbar: kupfer, schwarz, weiß und aquagrün. Jede Farbvariation versprüht einen Hauch Eleganz, vor allem in Kombination mit dem schönen, abgerundeten Bildschirmrahmen, dem glänzend schwarzen Panel  an der Rückseite und der fast schmuckvollen Fertigung. Trotz scheinbar delikatem Design, ist das Sony Xperia Z3+ robust und behält das IP65/IP68-Rating, d. h. es ist wasser -und staubresistent. Das Android-5.0-Lollipop-Smartphone verfügt über einen Octa-Core-Prozessor in Form eines Cortex A53 Quad-Core mit einer Taktrate von 1,5 GHz und eines Cortex A57 Quad-Cores mit eine Taktrate von 2,0 GHz.

Die unterstützende Hardware besteht aus einer Adreno 430 GPU, 3 GB RAM und 32 GB internem Speicher. Diese Konfiguration sorgt dafür, das das Sony Xperia Z3+ mit Leichtigkeit alle Anwendungen und Multimedia-Inhalte handhaben kann. Beim Bildschirm handelt es sich um ein 5,2 Zoll großes IPS LCD-Panel mit Triluminos-Technologie, welches hervorrande Klarheit und Helligkeit liefert. Das Smartphone verfügt über eine beeindruckende 20,7-MP-Hauptkamera und eine sekundäre 5,1-MP-Frontkamera. Zu den weiteren Fähigkeiten zählen Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS, FM-Radio mit RDS und microSD-Unterstützung. Für ausgezeichnete Akkulaufzeit ist das Sony Xperia Z3+ mit einem nicht entfernbaren Lithium-Ionen-Akku mit einer Nennkapazität von 2930 mAh ausgestattet.

Serie: Sony's Xperia Z5 comes in 3 major versions, known as standard, premium and compact. The material choice is a very nice glass front and a back with metal construction wrapping all around the phone. Sony has always been recognized for having one of if not the best cameras on their phones. The Xperia Z5 features the latest sensor with 23 MP, 5520 х 4140 pixels, phase detection, autofocus, and LED flash. It is capable of video recording at 2160p@30fps, 1080p@60fps, and 720p@120fps with HDR function available. All 3 versions come with the new fingerprint sensor, which is placed at the side of the phone where the power button is. Another great design of the phone is its stereo front facing speakers. The Xperia Z5 phones are IP68 certified, i.e. dust proof and water resistant over 1.5 meter and 30 minutes.

The compact version has a 4.6 inch 720 x 1280 pixels Triluminos display. Because of its lower price it is not as big and high-resolution than the standard model. The hardware of the Android OS, v5.1.1 (Lollipop) system includes a Qualcomm MSM8994 Snapdragon 810 consisting of 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 and Cortex A43 Quad Core CPUs and an Adreno 430 GPU. The only difference of the compact model to the standard model is that it does not have 3 GB of RAM. However, due to its lower screen resolution it should have no problems with only 2 GB of RAM. The non-removable Lithium-Ion battery rated at 2700 mAh is smaller than the standard model's. Sony claims that it will last up to 2 days. In addition, this device comes with 32 GB of flash memory and the storage capacity can be expanded with a microSD by up to 200 GB.
