Und dank Kamerataste lassen sich auch unter Wasser Fotos schießen. Aber nur bei geschlossenen Gehäuseklappen - was für eine Fummelei! ... Wem das Z1 zu groß ist: Das kleinere Z1 Compact ist technisch fast identisch.

Aufgrund der mehr als ausreichenden Hardwareausstattung (Quadcore mit 2,2 GHz in Verbindung mit 2GB Arbeitsspeicher) sahen wir auf keinem der beiden Testkandidaten ein Ruckeln oder eine Verzögerung - nicht nur bei Navi- oder GPS-Apps, sondern auch bei allen anderen Anwendungen. Es waren Beschwerden zu lesen, dass der Wechsel vom Sony Xperia Z auf das Xperia Z1 nach lediglich einem halben Jahr zu schnell vonstatten ging – Einspruch stattgegeben. Das ist aber auch das Einzige, was man Sony vorwerfen kann, denn abseits dieser Tatsache entpuppt sich das Xperia Z1 als Maßstäbe setzendes Smartphone.

Der Prozessor arbeitet Hand in Hand mit der Software, der Browser ist zügig, und der Akku hält lange durch. Außerdem ist das Gehäuse sehr wertig, gut verarbeitet und zudem wasserdicht. Minuspunkte gibt es für den TFT-Bildschirm, der keinen weiten Betrachtungswinkel bietet, und die nicht eben aktuellste Android-Version 4.2. Zudem rauschen die Fotoaufnahmen trotz guter Kameraausstattung recht stark.

Im manuellen Betrieb steht dem Nutzer ... die volle Auflösung von 20,7 Megapixel und die Wahl des Bildformats zur Verfügung. ... In Sachen Bildqualität gab es leider ein paar Schwächen. So ist bei schlechten Lichtverhältnissen ein deutliches Rauschen auf den Aufnahmen zu sehen, während Außenaufnahmen in Teilbereichen etwas unscharf gerieten. Der Großteil der Bilder konnte aber überzeugen.

It has a great screen and a fast processer, while the arrival of Android 4.4 KitKat has improved things markedly. The camera on the Z1 is hugely dissapointing and lets the phone down badly, especially compared to the amazing cameras on the HTC One (m8) and Samsung Galaxy S5.

Sony implemented a lot of suggestions, and with the new hardware platform they have a powerful device that can deal with other top models. Owners of Xperia Z are in the clear, for them there’s not too much need to think about Z1, and the others who want a top Android smartphone with a 5-inch diagonal, Z1 is a device to be considered.

With the Z1 retailing online for Rs 41,700, it’s hands-down a better option than the Xperia Z Ultra and worth the premium over the Xperia Z. Within the Xperia family, the Z1 is Sony’s best offering yet as it fixes most of the nagging issues from its predecessor, which is always a good thing. The Z1 excels in the media department, is waterproof and dustproof, has a powerful chipset and good battery life. The new camera is also pretty impressive for macros but fails miserably in low-light, which is a real disappointment considering all the hype around its imaging prowess. It does have some very interesting apps for the camera though, so we’ll give Sony credit for that. The heating issue and the poor sunlight legibility are the other two major niggles we had with the phone.

The Xperia Z1 is another all-round great phone from Sony, just like the barely-out-of-short-trousers Xperia Z it replaces. It has a superb display at times, a large battery that easily sails through a day of hardcore use, and one of the best cameras we've seen on a mobile phone for both stills, 1080p capture and clever AR and live streaming toys. It's a Range Rover for the school run. A gold toilet seat. Having all the sport and film channels on a telly in the shed. You'll feel awesome with one in your pocket, but for an all-round device, it feels like Sony has dropped the ball on design and screen technology and gambled too hard on camera and screen tech - a move that didn't pay off fully.

It's a close run thing, and we'd recommend you handle both of these handsets before you buy. The Note 3 is the better performer, but we're talking about a level of performance on both phones which is more than adequate for everything you need to do. It has a bigger, more colourful screen - but not everyone wants a huge screen and the Xperia Z1 has a sharper display anyway. Camera wise we'd err toward the Z1, but neither is earth-shatteringly good. And battery life is about even, albeit with the Z1 again marginally on top. They run similar software similarly well, and although only the Z1 is waterproof, they are both built to last. You pays your money you takes your chance. Two great phones that show how far Android has come.

Given it's not likely to command the mega cost of the Lumia 1020, the Z1 is a decent phone that will rival the Galaxy S4 on the shop shelves - so if you can get over the bulk, it's one of the most exciting smartphones to check out this year.

As for other specs, the Z1 offers NFC, 16GB of expandable storage (a microSD slot supports up to 64GB cards) along with a large 3,000mAh battery to keep everything running for at least a day of use. Sony's familiar power saving features are also baked into Android, promising to squeeze out every bit of juice by turning off updates and connections when the device is idle.

A beautiful slab of smartphone, the Xperia Z1 improves on the great start made by the Xperia Z. It’s great-looking, fast and has a lovely screen - if you ignore the narrow viewing angles. Sony’s light skinning of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean works well (an update to 4.4 Kit Kat is rumoured to be coming in early February), with some useful own-brand apps such as Video Unlimited, although you can certainly bin a couple of others. We love a smartphone that’s designed to resist the punishment of everyday use, and while it’s not the most rugged of phones, the 1.5m waterproofing is the sort of feature that we’d like to see more manufacturers adding as standard.

Sony wartet mit noch einem weiterem Phone auf, um seine Feste in der Phone-Industrie zu halten. Das Sony Xperia Z1 ist ein Flagschiff-Phone mit ausgezeichneter Spezifikation. Es wird für flüssige Leistung durch einen Snapdragon 800 2,2 GHz Quad-Core-Prozessor mit 2 GB RAM angetrieben. Die 20.7-MP-Kamera ist möglicherweise das attraktivste Feature. Da das Z1 wasser-resistent ist, können Benutzer auch Unterwasser-Bilder aufnehmen!

Es ist mit 16 GB nativem Speicher ausgestattet. Wie bei anderen Phones kann der Speicher mit einer microSD-Karte erweitert werden. Der 3000 mAh Akku hört sich am Papier groß an, doch wegen der ziemlich hohen Spezifikation reicht er trotzdem nur für einen Tag Nutzung. Der 5-Zoll-Bildschirm hat eine Auflösung von 1920 x 1080 Pixeln und somit 441 ppi. Leider können Farben und Kontrast nicht mit den klaren, scharfen Bildern mithalten.

Insgesamt bietet das Sony Xperia Z1 gute Hardware und Software. Es ist nicht das beste Phone am Markt, doch es erfüllt seine Aufgabe. Wasser-Festigkeit und die Fähigkeit Unterwasser-Bilder aufzunehmen machen es einzigartig. Es ist jedoch ein anderes Thema, ob jemand nur deshalb dieses Phone kaufen wird.

Serie: Sony's Xperia Z5 comes in 3 major versions, known as standard, premium and compact. The material choice is a very nice glass front and a back with metal construction wrapping all around the phone. Sony has always been recognized for having one of if not the best cameras on their phones. The Xperia Z5 features the latest sensor with 23 MP, 5520 х 4140 pixels, phase detection, autofocus, and LED flash. It is capable of video recording at 2160p@30fps, 1080p@60fps, and 720p@120fps with HDR function available. All 3 versions come with the new fingerprint sensor, which is placed at the side of the phone where the power button is. Another great design of the phone is its stereo front facing speakers. The Xperia Z5 phones are IP68 certified, i.e. dust proof and water resistant over 1.5 meter and 30 minutes.

The compact version has a 4.6 inch 720 x 1280 pixels Triluminos display. Because of its lower price it is not as big and high-resolution than the standard model. The hardware of the Android OS, v5.1.1 (Lollipop) system includes a Qualcomm MSM8994 Snapdragon 810 consisting of 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 and Cortex A43 Quad Core CPUs and an Adreno 430 GPU. The only difference of the compact model to the standard model is that it does not have 3 GB of RAM. However, due to its lower screen resolution it should have no problems with only 2 GB of RAM. The non-removable Lithium-Ion battery rated at 2700 mAh is smaller than the standard model's. Sony claims that it will last up to 2 days. In addition, this device comes with 32 GB of flash memory and the storage capacity can be expanded with a microSD by up to 200 GB.
