Perfect for internet use on the go, thanks to its 3G modem and reasonable more than five hours of battery life (336 minutes, 60 on performance settings), the Sony Vaio X VPCX11Z1E/X isn’t really fast enough for getting serious work done, but it’s superbly engineered and very usable if you can afford it.

An Atom-based ultraportable laptop that sets a new standard in mobility. Sony's VAIO range has long been associated with ultraportable laptops, and the 11.1-inch VAIO X-Series VPC-X11Z1E/X is one of the most extreme to date. The VAIO X-Series VPCX11Z1E/X may share its processor with cheaper netbooks, but there's a lot to separate this tiny machine. If you place portability and design above all else and money isn't an issue, then it's definitely worth a look.

There’s no doubt about the amazing portability on offer from the Sony VAIO VPC11Z1E/X, but whether it’s worth the money will depend entirely how much you value that portability. Think of it as a Sony VAIO TT replacement – a high-end ultraportable for executives – and it’s an excellent little device. It’s difficult to escape the fact that it does the same job as many netbooks however, and although none can match it for wow-factor or quality, several can better it for battery life or performance.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 500: Integrierter (onboard) Grafikchip auf UL11L, US15L, US15W Chipsatz mit lizensiertem PowerVR SGX 535 Kern. Trotz DirectX 10.1 Unterstützung durch die geringen Taktraten (100-200 MHz je nach UL11L - US15L/W) nicht spielfähig. Integrierter Video Decoder für MPEG-2, VC-1, AVC.

3D Spiele sind auf diesen Vertretern nur in Ausnahmen spielbar, grundsätzlich sind die Grafiklösungen hierfür jedoch nicht geeignet. Office Programme und Internet surfen dürfte jedoch ohne Problem möglich sein.

Intel Atom: Die Intel Atom Serie besteht aus 64-Bit Mikroprozessoren für günstige und stromsparende Notebooks, MIDs oder UMPC. Besonderheit der Architektur, ist das die Befehle nicht wie derzeit üblich (z. B. Intel Core Architekture oder AMD Turion) "out of Order"  sondern  "in  Order"  ausgeführt  werden. Dadurch verliert man zwar einiges an Performance, jedoch spart dies Transistoren und daher Kosten und dadurch auch etwas Strom.
