Among Intel-Core-powered Windows 8 hybrids, the $1,199 Wi-Fi version of the Samsung ATIV Smart PC 700T is one of our favorites because of the versatile S Pen, handy Samsung apps (including a Start-menu replacement) and sharp 1080p display. The addition of 4G LTE and a slightly faster CPU would seem to sweeten the deal, but $1,599 is a lot to spend for these upgrades, especially when the LTE speeds aren't that fast.

As an Ultrabook, the Samsung Ativ Smart PC Pro is a little thick and heavy, and it skimps on ports and battery life. As a tablet, it's a great Windows 8 tab with an excellent screen that's powerful, well balanced in your hands and very responsive to touch. But what will really sell the Samsung Ativ Smart PC Pro is that you can go from one to the other in seconds, without being disappointed in either. You won't draw the same kind of attention as you do when you're carrying a Surface Pro, but if the kickstand isn't for you and you can stand the trackpad, Samsung has a compromise that doesn't make too many concessions.

The Samsung ATIV Smart PC Pro is a powerful Windows 8 device. It is really a tablet rather than a laptop as Samsung wishes to portray it. Its powerful Core i5 dual-core CPU and 128 GB hard drive ensure a speedy and lag-free performance even with multi-tasking. The 11.6" bright Full HD touchscreen with great viewing angles is also very responsive. Thanks to a pair of decent speakers, the multimedia performance is also good. Ergonomics has been adequately taken care of by the keyboard and touchpad. While the design is not bad, it is not innovative either, and makes it appear like a device meant more for business users rather than a general consumer. Battery life is not better than a standard netbook if you are a heavy user, but you can push it to a decent 7.5 hours with power management. The Samsungindiastore.com website mentions that it is now available with a special offer of a free wireless touch mouse that costs Rs 4000. While it is still quite expensive at Rs 75,500, this seems to be a better buy when compared to the more expensive Sony VAIO Duo 11.

The Samsung ATIV Smart PC Pro is a great Hybrid tablet / laptop. You will be able to use it as a desktop replacement for work and home use. I am enjoying the ability to have the 11.6-inch display with 1980×1080 resolution. Text is very clear on the display. Using the split screen while you work on a Word document or browse the web is another plus with 11.6-inch screen. Performance is great with 4GB RAM and haven’t noticed any slowdowns. The Samsung ATIV Smart PC Pro 700T sells for $1,199. Price will vary.

The Samsung ATIV Smart PC is a good Windows 8 tablet with a convertible form factor. Despite its Atom processor, it performs quite well and is good for work at home or office. Of course, increasing the workload does make it a little sluggish. With a screen size of 11.6" and 700+ grammes weight, it might be too big to be used as a portable tablet, but it works rather well as a netbook weighing 1.3 kg. It looks similar to many of Samsung's tablets and mobiles as far as the tablet design is concerned, and that can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on the user's view. Although there is a 64 GB SSD, there's just hardly 34 GB free space available for the user and this might need to be augmented via microSD card. The battery life is good and Intel has done a good job with the CPU that competes favourably against ARM variants. Priced at Rs 54,000, this is more expensive than the better-looking Acer ICONIA W510 that comes with a slightly smaller 10.6" screen, but a better battery life, thanks to additional battery in the keyboard dock.

As far as hardware goes, the ATIV 500T is pretty standard when it comes to mobile units. The raw power of the ATIV 500T isn't going to blow anyone away, but for everyday tasks is more than adequate. Basically I would compare the ATIV 500T to a netbook, enough power to get most tasks done, but obviously lacking if you are hoping to run intensive programs.

Samsung: Die Samsung Group ist der größte südkoreanische Mischkonzern und wurde 1938 gegründet. In der Samsung-Gruppe waren 2014 489.000 Menschen beschäftigt, und sie gehört zu den weltweit größten Unternehmen gemessen an Umsatz und Marktstärke. Der Name Samsung bedeutet im Koreanischen "Drei Sterne" und repräsentiert die drei Söhne des Firmengründers. Das Unternehmen wurde 1938 als Lebensmittelladen gegründet. Mit der 1969 gegründeten Tochter Samsung Electronics nahm Samsung die Fertigung elektrotechnischer Artikel in Angriff, wobei man sich frühzeitig auf Unterhaltungselektronik und Haushaltsgeräte konzentrierte. Weitere Zweige, in denen der Großkonzern tätig ist, sind Maschinenbau, Automobile (Hyundai), Versicherung, Großhandel, Immobilien und Freizeit. Samsung stellt eine breite Palette von elektronischen Produkten her, darunter Smartphones, Fernsehgeräte, Haushaltsgeräte und Halbleiter. Die Galaxy-Smartphone-Reihe des Unternehmens ist eine der beliebtesten der Welt. Samsung ist auch ein wichtiger Akteur in der Halbleiterindustrie und stellt Speicherchips und Prozessoren für viele andere Elektronikhersteller her.

Einige nicht anspruchsvolle aktuelle Spiele können mit geringen Details noch flüssig gespielt werden. Für Office und Video natürlich ausreichende Leistungsreserven.

Intel HD Graphics 4000: In Ivy Bridge Prozessoren (3. Generation Core) integrierte Grafikkarte in höchster Ausbaustufe. Je nach Prozessor (ULV bis Desktop Quad-Core) unterschiedlich getaktet.

3D Spiele sind auf diesen Vertretern nur in Ausnahmen spielbar, grundsätzlich sind die Grafiklösungen hierfür jedoch nicht geeignet. Office Programme und Internet surfen dürfte jedoch ohne Problem möglich sein.

PowerVR SGX545: Integrierte Grafikeinheit, unter anderem in den Atom-Prozessoren der Clover-Trail-Baureihe.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 3600: Integrierte (shared memory) Grafikkarte welche im Prozessor Intel Atom N26xx integriert ist. Basiert auf einen PowerVR SGX 545 Kern.

Diese Karten können nur sehr alte und sehr anspruchslose 3D Spiele flüssig darstellen.  Anwendungen wie Office, Internet surfen, Bildbearbeitung oder (SD) Videoschnitt sind jedoch ohne große Einschränkungen möglich.

Intel HD Graphics 2000: In den Sandy Bridge Prozessoren (Core ix-2xxx) von Intel  integrierte Grafikkarte. Die HD 2000 ist die schwächere, GT1 genannte, Variante mit 6 statt 12 Execution Units (EUs).

Intel Core i5:

3317U:

Intel Atom: Die Intel Atom Serie besteht aus 64-Bit Mikroprozessoren für günstige und stromsparende Notebooks, MIDs oder UMPC. Besonderheit der Architektur, ist das die Befehle nicht wie derzeit üblich (z. B. Intel Core Architekture oder AMD Turion) "out of Order"  sondern  "in  Order"  ausgeführt  werden. Dadurch verliert man zwar einiges an Performance, jedoch spart dies Transistoren und daher Kosten und dadurch auch etwas Strom.

Z2760: SoC mit integriertem Dual Core Atom Prozessor (max 1.8 GHz), 533 MHz PowerVR SGX 545 Grafikkarte und Dual Channel LPDDR2-800 Speicherkontroller.

Intel Pentium:

987: Auf Sandy Brige Architektur basierender Stromspar-Doppelkernprozessor ohne Turbo (max 1.5 GHz) und mit abgespeckten Features (kein QuickSync, AES, Virtualization, Trusted Execution) mit integrierter HD Graphics Grafikkarte und integriertem DDR3 Speicherkontroller.

72.62%: Diese Bewertung ist schlecht. Locker drei Viertel der Modelle werden besser beurteilt. Das ist eher keine Kaufempfehlung. Auch wenn Verbalbewertungen in diesem Bereich gar nicht so schlecht klingen ("genügend" oder "befriedigend"), meist sind es Euphemismen, die eine Klassifikation als unterdurchschnittliches Notebook verschleiern.
