We’re just not sure you should buy this instead of the Oppo Reno 10X Zoom, which is largely the same but without 5G. If it was £50 extra SIM-free and you were planning on keeping it for several years before upgrading, it’d be no contest. 5G is the way forwards.

The Reno 10x Zoom has the amazing full screen display with shark fin camera. It has the 10x Zoom (funnily enough) which is amazing. It has the same much-improved OPPO software (which could still do with some refinement but is at a stage where I can recommend it to people without any hesitation). And it is one of the best looking phones available in Australia at the moment.

Most of my gripes were cosmetic rather than functional. Some of the app notification icons atop the display look copy-and-pasted from Microsoft Paint. Many of the default icons and screen savers look amateurish when compared to other user interfaces. There are easy fixes to a lot of these issues, but buying a phone in this price range is buying an experience just as much as hardware. Graceless design elements end up sullying the user experience -- a small problem in the grand scheme, but noteworthy at this price point. But the Reno 5G is still a fantastic phone. I can't recommend 5G right now, but if you are desperate to be an early adopter the Reno 5G is the cheapest way to go about it. For everyone else, the 10x Zoom is a much better deal.

Me, I would buy the 4G version in the ultra-sexy Ocean Green and be deliriously happy. In a few years when 5G is ready, I have confidence in OPPOs build quality to pass this on to the kidults, and they will be equally happy.

Qualcomm Adreno 640: Grafikchip für Smartphones und Tablets, integriert im Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC. Laut Qualcomm um 20% schneller als die alte Adreno 630 im Snapdragon 845 und bietet 50% mehr ALUs (Recheneinheiten).

Einige nicht anspruchsvolle aktuelle Spiele können mit geringen Details noch flüssig gespielt werden. Für Office und Video natürlich ausreichende Leistungsreserven.

SD 855: High-End SoC (System on a Chip) für Smartphones welcher Ende 2018 vorgestellt wurde. Integriert unter anderen einen schnellen "Prime Core" mit bis zu 2,84 GHz und drei weitere schnelle Cortex-A76 basierende Performance-Kerne.
