The Oppo Reno 10x Zoom offers one of the widest zoom ranges we have seen, from 16mm ultra-wide to 130mm tele-lens, and puts in a solid performance in almost all areas, earning itself an excellent DXOMARK Camera overall score of 116 and a spot in the top ten in our ranking. There is some room for improvement for the zoom and ultra-wide lens modules, which suffer from fusion artifacts, but overall, the Oppo is still a great choice for mobile photographers who want the option to zoom in on a subject or out to widen the field of view. With a very good video performance added to the mix, the Oppo is a an excellent device for tackling any mobile imaging task.

The Oppo Reno 10x Zoom feels stylish in a way few phones do, from its smooth rear design to the asymmetrical and unapologetic pop-up camera. It may feel a little slow to use at times, thanks to the slow-to-respond user interface, but in general it’s a processing powerhouse that’ll do all you ask of it and more.

Should you buy the Reno 10x Zoom Edition? It’s a well-designed phone with a quirky selfie camera, vibrant display, and fantastic battery life. Plus, the high-quality rear cameras and ultra-fast charging technology show that OPPO knows what it is doing. If you can handle ColorOS 6, OPPO’s Reno 10x Zoom Edition is all the phone you need. You can currently grab the OPPO Reno 10x Zoom Edition (6GB/128GB) from Amazon UK for just £519.

In Europe, the Reno 10x Zoom can be found between 579 to 649€ depending on storage configuration. The issue I had with the Reno 10x is that I don’t feel like it had any one defining feature that put it ahead of the competition. Everything was relatively passable or adequate, not shining in any one area. For being a jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none phone, I feel it doesn’t convince me enough to actively recommend the phone over a competing solution. The phone has a cheaper sibling in the regular Reno, and the Reno 2 will also be released soon, but again I don’t feel like those phones substantially change the formula to make them worthwhile phones. Let’s hope Oppo continues to iterate in future designs, and better optimise and improve upon the core aspects of its phones.

After the OnePlus 7, the Oppo Reno 10x Zoom is among the most affordable phones offering a Snapdragon 855 processor in India. The Oppo Reno 10x Zoom offers a promising spec sheet with superior camera features. On paper, it takes on directly with the OnePlus 7 Pro at an affordable price. However, the OnePlus 7 Pro does have a slight edge with the 90Hz display and Oxygen OS. But if you are not a tight budget of around Rs 40,000, the Oppo Reno 10x Zoom is a great device to buy with all the style and performance that lacks in the vanilla OnePlus 7.

The Reno 10x Zoom is a true flagship phone from OPPO. You get top-tier specs, top-tier cameras, and top-tier design. Of course, you will need to shed top-tier cash as it will cost you P45,990. From a consumer perspective, one can easily say it’s overpriced. But OPPO has matured in 2019. It feels like it wants to make a statement that it can also do what others are already doing. The Reno 10x Zoom is priced closer to the OnePlus 7 (Rs 32,999) than the OnePlus 7 Pro (Rs 48,999), but make no mistake about it, the device poses a very serious challenge to both of those worthies. Those looking to invest in the OnePlus 7 might be tempted to spend just a little more to get a far better set of cameras and a more eye-catching design, while OnePlus 7 Pro users might find the decision as simple as getting competitive specs at a much lower price. Yes, the Asus 6z does come into the mix, but the Reno offers a better camera experience and a much more premium design. No, And as we mentioned in our comparison between the two devices, the Reno 10x Zoom does score heavily when it comes to design and cameras in comparison with the Never Settler.

OPPO has been working its butt off to try and get to the same level as their competitors when it comes to flagship phones, and despite their missteps with the Find X, it looks like the company finally has a solid flagship in the form of the Reno 10x Zoom. The Reno 10x Zoom isn’t quite there yet missing a few essential flagship features. That being said, it’s impressive how much OPPO has accomplished with the new phone. The Oppo Reno 10x Zoom is perhaps the best designed phone to launch this year. It feels classy and sturdy at the same time. It looks the part of a flagship, all right, but it also performs the part of a flagship really well. The performance of the phone is pretty flawless with little to no lag in loading apps, playing games and the likes. The display spans across the entire body making it feel really immersive. A major downside we found was the UI and the plethora of bloatware that clutter the notification shade in no time. The Reno 10X Zoom’s camera is the star of the show, however.

Oppo has delivered a smartphone with market-leading specifications and camera capabilities, and has somehow managed to do so within the “value flagship” price range. As one of the first few phones available in India with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, the Oppo Reno 10x Zoom makes most other flagship phones look weak. Even the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S10e ₹ 50,900 (Review) and OnePlus 7 Pro (Review) are more expensive with less to offer. The Oppo Reno 10x Zoom is clearly being marketed for its 10x hybrid zoom capability, though we think 6x optical zoom is the bigger draw. Other than the much more expensive Huawei P30 Pro (Review), this phone has no competition in its niche. With the future of Huawei's smartphone business uncertain right now, we wouldn't blame people for second-guessing a purchase.

Overall, there’s plenty to like about the Oppo Reno 10x Zoom – the fascinating design punctuated by the unusual pop-up camera, the big OLED display, the amazing battery life and specs, and the capable camera. If it was priced more competitively, it would be a killer deal. The Oppo Reno 10x Zoom starts at around €800 in Europe. That’s €100 more than the OnePlus 7 Pro, which may not have 10x zoom, but has a higher resolution display, similar captivating design with a pop-up camera, and more RAM. Oppo is asking a premium price for this phone, and though it may sound fair on paper, considering the specs and features on display, it puts the Reno against some very stiff competition in the high-end segment. Global availability of the Reno is still somewhat limited, but the phone has already launched in China and will be making its European and Indian debuts this week.

Unfortunately, its biggest weakness isn’t in hardware or software but in availability. It does sell directly in a few markets but many, especially those in the US, will have to make a leap of faith when purchasing from retailers. After our short time playing with the Oppo Reno 10x Zoom handset, we're a little unsure of its staying power in the market – its main point of interest is the mechanical 'shark-fin', but we're still not too sure who'd prefer its bizarre look over the Samsung Galaxy A80's rotating pop-up panel or the collection of pop-up cameras coming to the market soon. It doesn't necessarily feel as high-end as its premium price tag may suggest, and Oppo could be valuing it a little higher than it's actually worth – an unbroken screen and mechanical part isn't necessarily the most important part of the phone. However things like solid battery life, durability, and plenty of power are what make a phone great and it's not easy to convey these things during a quick hands-on, so when we get our hands on the Oppo Reno 10x Zoom for a full review we may be singing a jollier tune.

My overall impression with the phone is that it does have a lot of wow factor – bearing in mind I’ve had it for about twelve hours so far. My personal requirements for a telephoto/zoom device makes the OPPO Reno 10x Zoom a high contender, along with that large OLED screen, and hopefully a good battery life. To be honest, I could perhaps do without the selfie camera – I don’t take a lot of them, but not having a selfie camera on a 2019 smartphone is suicide, and the solutions beyond a pop-up camera seem few and far between. The way OPPO has implemented it on the Reno is perhaps one of the best of the bunch, as the others can have obvious problems.

Modell:
