So, overall, the Nord 2 is an intriguing product that isn't quite like any of its competitors. It's better in some aspects and worse in others, and whether it might, in early 2022, be the one for you depends entirely on what you prioritize most in your phone use. We've enjoyed all aspects of our time with it except those specifically pointed out as bugs or annoyances, so we can't really tell you to avoid it no matter what. But we would think long and hard if you specifically need its unique assortment of features. And if not, Samsung has a Galaxy A52s 5G to sell you for what is now a very similar price. Don't like Samsung? Check out the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G or 11 Lite 5G NE. Or, if you want more performance and care less about camera prowess, the Poco F3 (which we've reviewed long-term last year) can definitely provide for you.

OnePlus calls its brand-new Nord 2 the "flagship killer," and I get why. This phone has impressive specs, performs well and when paired with a reasonable starting price (only £399 here in the UK), it's designed to offer everything you'd need from a phone without emptying your bank account. A powerful processor, a solid dual rear camera setup, 5G connectivity, super fast charging -- and it's not bad to look at either. The phone became available for purchase yesterday for those living in continental Europe, the UK and India.

There you have any review of the OnePlus Nord 2, A cracking phone that is well worth the money that is being asked for it. Does it have some faults, yes of course and it won’t be the phone for the absolute top end spec hunters. It is not intended to be for that market, this is the categories being occupied by the OnePlus 9 Pro 5G and OnePlus 9 5G. This phone is intended for those who are a bit more price sensitive but still want good value and features. I think this is the most competitive market segment at the moment and for me, it is actually turning out to be the most interesting. Would I recommend this phone to people absolutely yes I would! It is defiantly one of my top 5 phones of the year so far and I have struggled to find anything that I would willingly replace it with. I am in a fortunate position to be able to play with phones from various different manufacturers that are aimed at all sorts of market segments.

The OnePlus Nord 2 can be purchased in India at Rs 29,999 for the 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage variant and Rs 34,999 for its 12 GB RAM variant with 256 GB storage. At that price, you get a phone with as good a design as that of a OnePlus 9 that’s Rs 20,000 more expensive, with performance comparable to the 9R that sells for Rs 40,000. It also improves on its predecessor on every front. Having said that, the competition hasn’t been sitting idle. In fact, there are a couple of handsets that can give Nord 2 a serious run for its money. The Realme X7 Max (Review) and Poco F3 GT are also powered by the Mediatek Dimensity 1200 chip and sell for a few thousand rupees less. And that’s not all – both phones have higher 120 Hz refresh rate displays and 64 MP primary cameras (without OIS). The Poco F3 GT has a few extras for gamers including pop-up gaming triggers, but the software experience remains the best on Nord 2, courtesy of OxygenOS, making it a compelling choice in this segment.

While the OG Nord did feel like something of a flagship killer, this one isn’t as competitive a year on. Flagships in 2021 are required by law to have 120Hz screens, fast wireless charging, zoom cameras, and IP ratings. A phone without any of that can't realistically hope to go toe-to-toe with much more expensive models, and that’s fine. Despite what OnePlus marketing would have you believe, this phone isn't really trying to compete with premium handsets. The Nord 2 is emblematic of the wider problem OnePlus is facing right now. It makes great phones with decent software, but it is struggling to stand out and is no longer anywhere near as competitive on price. The Nord series is apparently selling very well, so there’s no reason to believe this one will do badly. But after I reviewed the original OnePlus Nord last year, I kept using it for quite some time afterward. With the Nord 2, I'm already eager to move on, and that is very telling.

For a mid-range phone, OnePlus Nord 2 turned out to be an interesting solution. If we take its price in China, then the offer is good in a number of parameters. Glass body, very fast charging included, solid performance, concise and user-friendly interface, cool lever for quickly switching alert modes. There are suspiciously many advantages, but where are the disadvantages? There is no wireless charging – but it’s like anyone else, I don’t use it at all, preferring a fast wired one. There is no moisture protection, so it would be worth adding at last, it’s still a necessary thing. Is the photo quality not perfect? Yes, the camera could be improved, but given the price of the smartphone, it can be survived. After all, this is not an expensive flagship, but an advanced middle school student for adequate money.

The OnePlus Nord 2 5G is an extremely decent mid-range smartphone, which in some places turned out to be even more interesting than the manufacturer's base flagship. For example, its main camera is endowed with an optical stabilization system, which is not present in the OnePlus 9, and the new phone has a better battery life. There are, of course, many simplifications, but the smartphone is positioned differently. The Nord 2 5G is not a flagship, the requirements and expectations from which are higher, but in fact it turned out to be very close to more expensive models from OnePlus in particular.

With the release of the pricey OnePlus 9 Pro and the company’s merger with Oppo turning it into a sub brand, I feared everyone’s favorite flagship killer had lost its mojo. Don’t worry, because the Nord 2 proves we have nothing to fear. Sure, it may not have the same Snapdragon 888 CPU of the Realme GT or the 144Hz display of the RedMagic 6R, but the Nord 2 doesn’t make the same compromises as those rivals to stuff the spec sheet. Rather than leaning on a few powerful components and compromising on the rest of the formula, OnePlus created a balanced device that does just about everything well. The Nord 2 is a jack of all trades and even though it's a master of none, it achieves the balance you want in a mid-range smartphone. OnePlus might have gone corporate, but it hasn’t forgotten how to create a banger.

Powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 1200 chipset, the OnePlus Nord 2 brings a ton of features to the mid-range table including some that a few flagship smartphones don’t match such as 65W Warp Charge, whilst the 50MP Sony IMX766 camera sensor, the same one featured in the OnePlus 9 series, works a treat as the main snapper. The original Nord didn’t lack power but switching to MediaTek’s premier Dimensity 1200AI chipset takes performance on the Nord 2 to a different level entirely. The 90Hz AMOLED display is bright and accurate, the in-display fingerprint sensor is very, very good, and you’ll struggle to figure out where the corners were cut to achieve such a reasonable price. We are that impressed by the Nord 2 5G that we’ve given it the rare ‘Editors Choice’ award. If you have £399/£469 for a new phone, the OnePlus Nord 2 is the mid-range flagship champion of 2021, putting some much pricier phones to shame.

The smartphone comes pre-installed with OxygenOS 11.3 that sports improvements such as Dark Mode, Zen Mode, comfortable single-handed operation and various always on display (AOD) options, with additional personalisation, gestures and gaming-friendly customisation. In terms of battery, the smartphone houses a 4500mAh battery with Warp Charge 65 charging technology, just like the flagship OnePlus 9 series. More battery power would have made the device more appealing for heavy users. However, with the fast-charging technology, this is taken care of. Conclusion: With its premium looks and powerful processor, OnePlus Nord 5G is a phone that can surely woo all generations. It stands strong against the smartphones from other brands in the same price segment.

Priced at Rs 29,999 (8GB+128GB), the Nord 2 is a wholesome upgrade over its predecessor. It is a smartphone packed with the best of OnePlus and OPPO. It is a step forward in the right direction, despite it being a motley mix of OnePlus design and OPPO features. It is one of the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 system-on-chip-powered smartphones with strength across areas, including gaming. That said, the Nord 2 is a smartphone with something in store for everyone. Its all-round utility justifies its price and makes it a better proposition when compared to other MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC-powered smartphones like the Realme X7 Max, OPPO Reno6 Pro.

To wrap up this review, the OnePlus Nord 2 is certainly a healthy upgrade over last year’s Nord—no doubts on that! And with the Nord 2, I feel like OnePlus is back with the kind of value-for-money it used to provide a few years ago. At the same time, I think this phone also takes away the appeal of the more expensive OnePlus 9R and even the OnePlus 9 with its value-packed all-rounder performance. But again, this is not a perfect midrange phone. Its ultra-wide and selfie cameras are pretty average and the display isn’t as good as the competition. Yet, looking at the overall positive aspects, I would definitely recommend the Nord 2 to anyone who is looking for a reliable midrange phone. Yet, be sure to pick the 8/128GB variant instead of the 12/256GB variant, which I think misleads the value proposition of this phone.

Using the Nord 2 as a daily device for a couple of weeks has left us with the feeling that very little else is required for a great phone experience. From a speed, performance and design standpoint, it feels virtually no different to using a proper flagship phone. The only thing that lets it down slightly is the cameras. It's another instance of having one good primary camera, and the additional one not quite being up to scratch. Still, if ultra-wide photography rarely makes it into your repertoire, you'll be more than happy with the OnePlus Nord 2. It's going to give a mostly flagship like experience, at the fraction of the cost. There is now competition from the likes of Poco and Redmi though, so OnePlus is certainly not the only competitive mid-ranger in the pond.

At PHP 25,990 for the bigger 12GB + 256GB and PHP 21,990 for the 8GB + 128GB model, the OnePlus Nord 2 is a solid midrange device with flagship-level performance and a clean OS that long time users will appreciate. OnePlus’ departure from Snapdragon chipsets may raise some eyebrows because it brings with it its own set of challenges when it comes to software support, but the ColorOS integration is well-timed and hopefully brings more benefits in terms of stability and frequency of the promised software updates the device is expected to receive.

It’s perhaps inevitable that the Nord 2 isn’t quite as exciting as the first Nord for those of us who follow the industry closely. It's not as revelatory or novel, and with so many OnePlus models around now – this is the company’s sixth phone this year – it's hard to find any release as thrilling. Stiffer competition in the mid-range market doesn’t help, but the Nord 2 still makes a strong case for itself. The Dimensity 1200-AI chipset is one of the most powerful you’ll find for the price, the understated design remains appealing, and the main camera will outclass most rivals. And as ever, while Xiaomi and Realme may deliver better value on paper, the OxygenOS software experience still gives OnePlus an undeniable edge, and it isn’t going anywhere just yet.

If you want a compact Android smartphone with decent enough cameras and packing a punch in the performance department, the OnePlus Nord 2 won't disappoint you. It does not support mmWave 5G, but the phone is not available in the US, so this should not be a cause of concern for anyone. While there are a few questions that we hope to answer in the full review, we think that the OnePlus Nord 2 5G shows a lot of promise. Yes, the change from Qualcomm to MediaTek may be jarring but it does have a good set of features plus we’re happy to see that the main camera on this phone has OIS. Let’s see if this phone delivers the goods when the time comes to publish the full review. We also have to address the elephant in the room, which was an incident with this particular device in India. While the investigation still seems to be ongoing as of writing this article, it looks like it was an isolated case that involved external factors, Of course, we’ll keep an eye out for any developments in that regard but we’ll give OnePlus the benefit of the doubt.

With the OnePlus flagship series going up in price every year, the Nord 2 will come as some relief for those who don't wish to spend so much. It sticks to the company's core philosophy and delivers good performance and cameras for the price. The software experience is also good, and I hope that the integration of OxygenOS with ColourOS does not change this too much. For those looking purely at performance and gaming, the Poco F3 GT could be an alternative worth considering. However, if you are looking for a good all-rounder at this price level, the OnePlus Nord 2 should be your pick.

In recent years, the OnePlus phone fan base has criticized the company for not producing a killer flagship phone for a long time, but that wave will end now. With the launch of the OnePlus Nord 2 5G smartphone, many people are excited, but at the same time, the main selling point would be the powerful performance and impressive camera technology. On the other hand, you’ll also get an aesthetic design with a premium AMOLED screen on the front. In short, you’re getting tons of mind-blowing features and functions, while the price range covers all the gaps that are essential for a flagship phone. Meanwhile, if you’re looking for a cost-effective product, the Realme X7 Pro is worth the title as the alternative choice.

The OnePlus Nord 2 is an exciting addition to the mid-range phone market, with some high-end specs and a great experience so far. Whether this will be the best phone at this price point remains to be seen, but so far it seems like a top choice.

The OnePlus Nord 2 has everything you could need from a phone and manages to squeeze it all into a more affordable package. You do have to make a few sacrifices and everything about this phone is good rather than great, but that doesn't take away from the fact that it does well in all the key areas.

I like the direction OnePlus is heading with the Nord 2. It isn’t all about 5G or getting a better software experience to the mid-range segment which was the basis of the very first Nord. This time there has been a concise effort to bring in better performance, camera and design elements to establish dominance over the competition. The company has done a remarkable job in that regard and the OnePlus aficionados are going to love the ease of use provided by the Nord 2. Competition to the device comes in the form of the IQOO 7, Mi 11X and the X7 Max, with each of them offering something or the other that trumps the Nord 2. However, in terms of overall functionality, I think the Nord 2 packs in more of a punch than each of its competitors.

In the end, the OnePlus Nord 2 ends up in a similar space to our verdict on the original Nord — distinctly average. It’s a fine all-rounder with a reasonable value proposition, but it’s not a game-changer for the mid-range market. The most noteworthy improvement is the phone’s near-flagship performance and, for some, that will be enough to tip the phone into buy territory. But given all the hype and marketing, the Nord 2 is ultimately rather underwhelming.

The 8-megapixel super-wide lens is noticeably less detailed, but it too seems capable of capturing good-looking outdoor images. There's an on-screen option for 2x zoom but there isn't a zoom lens, so that 2x is based on digitally cropping the shot. Results still look good, but it's worth keeping in mind that you won't get maximum quality doing this. There's also technically a 2-megapixel monochrome sensor, which is totally pointless in my opinion as a photographer. If you want good-looking black and white images, use the regular camera and apps like Adobe Lightroom or Snapseed to have full control over converting to mono. Frankly, I feel OnePlus could have pulled this out and lopped another 20 quid or so off the price.

The Nord 2 in my books stands up as a phone that will appeal to a wide range of people who don’t want anything special in their phone, but need the device to be good at everything it does. This is an all-rounder phone like its predecessor and will appeal to everyone from young adults to senior users who want to step beyond the range of the budget phone and get a top up for that extra spend in terms of performance, experience and camera capabilities.

Finally, if you are really after the very best camera experience, it might be worth waiting a bit until the expected August launch of the Google Pixel 5a before pulling the trigger, but if you just want an all-around great budget phone, the OnePlus Nord 2 ticks pretty much all the boxes and is among the finest, if not our top choice.

Thanks to the Dimensity 1200, the Nord 2 is significantly faster than its predecessor. The 50MP camera does a better job with photos and videos, and you get a vibrant 90Hz AMOLED screen along with 65W fast charging. OxygenOS 11.3 is based on ColorOS, but the UI itself is still clean and bloat-free. As an overall package, the Nord 2 is one of the best you'll find in the mid-range segment right now.

Overall, the OnePlus Nord 2 5G seems like an upgrade over the original Nord in every respect, based on the specs. However, it has gone up in price as well, so it'll be interesting to see if this new smartphone still offers good value for money, or whether you'd be better off with the Nord CE 5G. I will be putting the Nord 2 5G through benchmarks and camera tests, so stay tuned to Gadgets 360 for the full review, coming up soon.

The OnePlus Nord 2 5G is a glimmer of hope that the flagship killers may be finally coming home. It's been a while since OnePlus offered us a phone worthy of its pioneered title, but here is the Nord 2 successfully reclaiming just that. The OnePlus Nord 2 5G is a worthy smartphone offering an excellent pick of flagship features and sold at a very lucrative price - a flagship killer, if you will. One that easily earns our recommendation.

All of which contributes to what is a highly positive overall picture for the OnePlus Nord 2. It isn’t perfect, of course: there’s no wireless charging, microSD card slot or IP rating and video capture is restricted to a disappointing 1080p at 30fps, but the Nord 2 easily hits back in other ways. Crucially, it’s quicker than most other Android phones at this price - only the Poco F3 is quicker, battery life is also very good and the stills photography capabilities are excellent. The AMOLED screen also delivers sumptuous imagery, whether you’re browsing the web or binge-watching Loki on Disney Plus. On balance, I’d say that makes the OnePlus Nord 2 5G a fantastic all-rounder in its price bracket. If you’re not too bothered about missing out on 4K video and you have £400 going spare, then you can't go wrong with this phone.

The entire point of the new Nord series was to give flagship phones a run for their money by offering a package that provides consumers with a OnePlus device at an affordable price point. But, unfortunately, at a starting price of Rs 27,999, the OnePlus Nord 2 is a phone that's difficult to recommend, and that's because the company now has an excellent device at the bottom of its pyramid, that's the Nord CE 5G. For power users who want the absolute best, they can go for the OnePlus 9R which's available at Rs 39,999. It is also a phone aimed at gamers, which can double up as your primary device for work and play. In a day, Poco will be launching its new Poco F3 GT with almost the same chipset, and that will be compared to the Nord 2. I'm guessing pricing is the key.

From our initial testing the OnePlus Nord 2 looks like a device that can compete well in a crowded market space with alternatives like the Google Pixel 4a and Samsung Galaxy A52 5G surrounding it. While we’ll need to test it further, if you like the look of OnePlus’ products and the brand’s ethos, this is likely to be a good handset for you if you don’t want to splash out on the absolute top-tier devices like the OnePlus 9 Pro.

The OnePlus Nord 2 is a reasonable step forward for the brand’s mid-range strategy after a few side-steps and stumbles. I like how well the phone fits within the broader line-up of OnePlus phones. The basics are all here and there’s little to fault with the hardware. Sure, it is a foolhardy endeavor to try using the phone full throttle, but most users will be more than satisfied with the optimized experience on offer. Unfortunately, Oxygen OS on its own isn’t nearly enough and OnePlus simply can’t afford to be complacent on essentials like the camera. The mid-range segment in Europe and India is crowded with big hitters and unlike the flagship territory, OnePlus is far from the only affordable option. All in all, the OnePlus Nord 2 is a pretty good phone with decent hardware credentials and a premium look, but just not enough to be a stand-out for a strong recommendation amidst a sea of competitors vying for buyer attention.

OnePlus struck a great balance with the Nord 2. You can play top-end games with stereo sound. Photos turn out great, day or night. A Gorilla Glass back gets you away from the all-plastic build that Samsung and Google offer at the price. All of which only makes its relatively short battery life all the more annoying. If you can shrug off visits to the plug as a necessary chore of smartphone ownership, the OnePlus Nord 2 offers outstanding value. But if two-day battery life is a dealbreaker, this isn't the flagship killer for you.

On the whole the Nord 2 feels very much like a case of picking up where it left off with the first Nord. There have been a few tweaks to the design, but it looks and feels very similar. Still, the powerful new processor inside and fast battery should elevate the experience somewhat and offer an experience that might just leave you questioning whether you should get a more expensive phone at all. The other thing worth considering is that OnePlus is not alone in the competitive mid-range market. The Poco F3 - as one example - promises very similar performance and specs on paper, and it costs even less. So while the Nord 2 may seem a great bargain against the likes of the Apple iPhone 12 or Samsung Galaxy S21, Xiaomi's sub-brands Poco and Redmi are very much of the moment - and OnePlus can't ignore this pressure.

The Nord 2 5G costs more than that, and is pretty similar to the Nord in a lot of ways -- including the fact that it’s not destined for the US. I’ve been testing the Nord 2 for a couple of days, and if you liked the proposition of the original Nord, you’ll probably like its sequel.

OnePlus was brave when to choose its "everything you could ask for" slogan, but it's been proven correct in our OnePlus Nord 2 review. The Nord 2 ticks basically every box when looking at its specs, and is a capable new rival in the premium mid-range market, even if its claims of being a flagship killer aren't quite borne out. The Nord 2 is a phone to go for if you prioritize display quality and charging speed, but not one if you want the best performance. If you're a phone photography fan, the Nord 2 doesn't quite edge out the competition on image quality alone, but its cheaper price may convince you it's a better buy than a Pixel 4a 5G or an iPhone SE. The only major complaint I can levy at the Nord 2 is the fact that American readers can't buy it. Sure U.S. phone buyers can pick the Nord N10 or Nord N200, but they are far cheaper phones with more distinct flaws. The Nord 2, like its predecessor, is an outstanding mid-range phone that is unfairly kept from large numbers of potential customers.

The OnePlus Nord 2 is a near-perfect £400 Android phone if you can cope with one thing. Its battery life is not great, and the heavy user will have to occasionally give it a mid-day top-up to avoid evening headaches. OnePlus’s ultra-fast charging makes this less onerous than it might otherwise be, but it’s not ideal. Still interested? The Nord 2 is a well-made phone with a great primary camera that can even beat the OnePlus 9’s in a few situations. And its selfie camera beats the OnePlus 9’s in all conditions. General performance is excellent, and it’s perfect for gaming. That’s not just about frame rates, but also the use of good stereo speakers and a bold, bright OLED screen.

A month ago, OnePlus announced the so-called Nord CE or “Core Edition,” an affordable phone which was pitched as offering the essential features of a OnePlus smartphone without any extra bloat. But the more I use the OnePlus Nord 2, the more I think that this is the phone that fits that description much more accurately. From its screen, to its cameras, its processor, and its software, the Nord 2 feels like a flagship phone stripped of any unnecessary features. There’s no Hasselblad-branded cameras, just a reasonably specced set of sensors. There’s no flagship Qualcomm chipset, but instead you get a processor that has no trouble handling the day-to-day duties of a modern smartphone. No wireless charging, but fast wired charging that more than makes up for it. All of this adds up to a compelling device if you’re looking to spend between £400 and £500 and you’re in a market when OnePlus is actually selling the Nord 2. A stripped down flagship it may be, but it’s hard to argue with what’s been left.

The OnePlus Nord 2 5G is OnePlus' flagship smartphone without the flagship price and that's what we love about OnePlus - they're always wanting to keep the premium smartphone manufacturers with their big prices on their toes. The autofocus works impressively well, too. For those who think the inexpensive smartphones that are currently available just don't perform well but, on the other hand, premium smartphones are way too expensive, the Nord 2 5G will be a sensible middle ground as just like the original Nord did, the Nord 2 5G fills a gap between cheap and expensive with a price point that's reasonable and features that are well worth having a look at. Does it give premium flagship smartphones a run for their money? Not quite but that shouldn't stop you from looking at the Nord 2 5G as what it does offer (price, performance & features) make it a good mid-range smartphone option that we're happy to 'Recommend'.
