Das Nokia X20 hat seine Stärken im 5G-Funk, der eine über­zeu­gende Perfor­mance liefert und in den verschie­denen Nach­hal­tig­keits­aspekten. Im Vergleich zu vielen anderen Herstel­lern sieht die Soft­ware-Zukunft etwas rosiger aus. Die Haupt­kamera weiß unter guten Licht­bedin­gungen vor allem im 64-MP-Modus zu über­zeugen und die Ausdauer ist erst­klassig. Außerdem ist die Verar­bei­tungs­qua­lität des Handys gelungen. Eine höhere Displayhel­lig­keit und eine bessere Kamera-Leis­tung bei schlechtem Licht gehören zu den Kritik­punkten.

Das Nokia X20 ist ein verhaltenes Topmodell. Vor allem das Display und der Prozessor überzeugten im Test nicht. Die Kamera weist ebenfalls einige Schwächen wie einen Grünstich oder Probleme beim Zoom auf. Positiv sind die Verfügbarkeit von 5G und die gute Akkulaufzeit. Das Aufladen empfiehlt sich aufgrund der langen Ladezeit eher über Nacht. In der Preisklasse bis 400 Euro ist das Nokia X20 ein solides Smartphone mit der Testnote 2,7.

Sadly, the Nokia X20’s comparatively pared-down offering just isn’t quite good enough to earn a recommendation.

I am desperately trying to find a clever headline for the Nokia X20 5G, but I can’t. I keep coming up with solid, average, outclassed… it is an alright phone in every way. Greatest apologies to Nokia for the intro, but I desperately want it to succeed, if only for ‘old times sake’. Its 1 to 9 series, and recently .3 (2019) and .4 (2020) iterations increasingly felt like they had been left in a cupboard for six months and released at a time when the competition had seriously raised the features and specifications bars.

Nokia promises three years of software upgrades, security updates and an extended warranty to match with the X20, and you can even plant trees using the phone’s IMEI number, but for most people, that won’t make up for the lacklustre hardware hidden beneath the premium-looking exterior. There are cheaper phones that offer brighter displays, better cameras, faster charging and a generally improved smartphone experience, and that makes it hard to recommend the Nokia X20 to anyone aside from the most dedicated stock Android fans. The extended support Nokia is offering is a huge improvement compared to most manufacturers, don’t misunderstand us, but the hardware needs to be more competitive to get a recommendation.

However, its display and processor appear to belong to a significantly lower category of phone, resulting in a day-to-day experience that’s decidedly below par.

Qualcomm Adreno 619: Grafikchip für Smartphones und Tablets, integriert im Qualcomm Snapdragon 750 SoC. Die Performance ist deutlich besser als der alte Adreno 612.

Diese Karten können nur sehr alte und sehr anspruchslose 3D Spiele flüssig darstellen.  Anwendungen wie Office, Internet surfen, Bildbearbeitung oder (SD) Videoschnitt sind jedoch ohne große Einschränkungen möglich.
