Overall image quality is a step up from the predecessor Nokia 8, offering slightly more consistent results for exposure and color. Its performance and image quality is competent, if not exceptional, with the best photos captured in bright light, producing images with good exposure, color, and texture. Results in lower light are acceptable, but it’s not an ideal low-light shooter, with losses of texture and color saturation evident, especially in very low light. Overall, for a mid-range device, the Nokia 8 Sirocco does an OK job with both photos and video, but devices with better results are available at this price point.

Nach vielen Versuchen einer Wiedergeburt steht die Nokia-Marke wieder gut auf den Beinen. Das Nokia 8 ist ihr Flaggschiff-Android-Modell. Nach einem erfolgreichem Start auf dem Android-Markt hat das Unternehmen dieses Jahr seine Produktpalette erweitert. Das neueste Gerät ist das Nokia 8 Sirocco, das mit nostalgischen Elementen des Nokia 8800 Sirocco den gleichen erstklassigen Eindruck erwecken soll. Das Nokia 8 2018 ist mit einem 5,5-Zoll-P-OLED-Bildschirm mit einer Auflösung von 1440 x 2560 Pixel ausgestattet, die Pixeldichte beläuft sich somit auf 534 ppi. Allerdings hat das Nokia 8 Sirocco im Gegensatz zu den meisten 2018-Flaggschiffen das gewölbte 16:9-Display beibehalten. Dies ist nicht unbedingt schlecht, doch wer nach großen, randlosen Bildschirmen in einem kleinen Gehäuse sucht, für den ist dieses Gerät wohl nicht die erste Wahl. Die Einfassung ist dennoch recht klein und sieht gut aus. Der gekrümmte Bildschirm verdeckt die seitliche Einfassung zu genüge. Die Vorder- und Rückseite sind mit Gorilla-Glass-5 überzogen, den Rest des Gehäuses schützt ein Edelstahlrahmen. Die Verarbeitungsqualität ist zweifelsfrei so gut wie in Nokias glorreichen Tagen. In vielen Hinsichten wirkt das Gerät wie das Samsung Note 7. Bei der Wahl der Farbe gibt es kein Dilemma, das Smartphone gibt es nur in schwarz. Das Nokia 8 Sirocco misst 140,9 x 73 x 7,5 mm.

Das Smartphone ist mit einem Snapdragon-835-Prozessor ausgerüstet, was überraschend ist, man hätte das neueste Snapdragon-845 erwartet. Dazu kommen noch 6 GB Arbeitsspeicher sowie 128 GB Speicherplatz. Letzterer kann mit einer Micro-SD-Karte erweitert werden (bis zu 400 GB). Das Nokia 8 Sirocco kommt mit Android 8.0 Oreo. Auf der Rückseite ist eine Dual-Kamera mit zwei 12-MP-Sensoren (f/1.8, 1.4um und f/2.6, 1.0um). Vorne ist eine 5-MP-Kamera, die Full-HD-Videos aufnehmen kann. Nach dem Vorbild von Apple und Google hat Nokia die Kopfhörerbuchse weggelassen. Dafür gibt es eine USB-3.1-Typ-C-Schnittstelle, um Daten zu übertragen und das Gerät aufzuladen. Das Sirocco ist ebenfalls IP67-zertifiziert, folglich ist das Gehäuse recht widerstandsfähig. Das Smartphone hat allerdings auch seine Fehler. Berichten zufolge sei die Palm-Rejection-Technologie des Bildschirmes nicht überragend, außerdem hinke die Kamera anderen 2018-Flaggschiffen nach. Das Gerät verfügt über einen 3260-mAh-Akku und unterstützt Quick-Charge-4.0. Dennoch dürften sich viele Käufer aufgrund des hohen Preises sowie des älteren Prozessors anderswo umsehen.

SD 835: High-End SoC (System on a Chip) für Smartphones welcher Anfang 2017 vorgestellt wurde und einer der ersten Prozessoren in 10 nm (LPE FinFET Prozess bei Samsung) ist. Integriert zwei Prozessorcluster, vier Kryo 280 mit maximal 2,45 GHz (Performance) und vier Kryo 280 mit maximal 1,9 GHz (Effizienz).
