In fact, it doesn’t stand out much from the pack other than its stellar battery life, the best this line has seen. Owners of older Microsoft Surface Laptops might wonder whether to make the upgrade to this model. Well, that depends on what you need from your upgrade. It makes sense to get the 3 if you’re happy with amazing battery life and a larger screen. But, if you need better performance, there are other places to look, most notably its successor, the Surface Laptop 4. If you are interested in the Microsoft Surface Laptop 3, you should be able to find some good deals on it.

Modell: Einer der größten Erfolge von Microsoft ist zweifellos die Surface-Serie. Sie trägt Microsoft, nach mehreren Versuchen im Handy-Bereich, im Hardware-Bereich problemlos. Die Surface-Geräten sind erfolgreich, weil Microsoft die Bedürfnisse der Benutzer zu verstehen begann und entsprechend handelte. Die leichten Surface-Geräte sorgen für eine flüssige Windows-Erfahrungen und sind in gewisser Weise für Windows optimiert.

Unser aktuelles Gerät verwendet eine AMD Ryzen 5 3580U. Die Benennung mag etwas anders klingen, da es sich nicht um einen normalen Ryzen-Chip handelt. Stattdessen wurde dieser Chip speziell für Surface Laptop 3 Modelle hergestellt. Was ist der Unterschied? Das versteckt sich in der GPU. Während normale Ryzen-Chips mit einer Vega 8-GPU ausgestattet sind, bietet dieses Modell eine Vega 9. Natürlich gibt es auch Varianten mit Intels neuesten Prozessoren der 10. Generation, doch die AMD-Partnerschaft ist eine nette Abwechslung. Der Unterschied zwischen Intel- und AMD-Modellen liegt in der Basis-Geschwindigkeit. Da es sich bei den AMD-Chips jedoch um Sonderanfertigungen handelt, werden Benchmarks diesbezüglich aufschlussreicher sein.

Ein 13,5-Zoll-Modell ist auch erhältlich. Ist der Surface Laptop eine gute Investition? Ja und nein. Ja, denn das Microsoft-Gerät wird sicherlich eine gute Windows-Erfahrung bieten. Nein, denn es gibt Unmengen anderer Laptops mit installiertem Windows, die auch gute Erfahrungen bieten. Vor allem angesichts des Preises der Top-Versionen, der bei über 2.000 USD liegt, kann man sich meines Erachtens leicht ein Asus Zenbook Pro Duo 14 zulegen, das mit seinem Dual-Screen ebenfalls innovativ ist und über eine sehr ähnliche Spezifikationen verfügt. Einige Versionen haben auch eine bessere GPU als das Surface 3.

Das Besondere am Surface Laptop 3 ist seine erstklassige Anmutung. Es ist vollständig aus Aluminium gefertigt. Im Grunde ist es eine Art, “Ich bin anders“ zu sagen. Was Apple mit der MacBook-Reihe macht, versucht Microsoft mit der Surface-Laptop-Reihe. Erfolgreich? Ja und nein. Ja, weil es gute Laptops sind. Nein, denn im Gegensatz zu Apple-Produkten verlieren Windows-Geräte zu schnell an Wert.

Wenn ich 2.000 USD in einen Laptop investieren würde, müsste ich meine Prioritäten festlegen. Ist es Mobilität? Ist es Leistung? Ist es ein hochwertige Anmutung? Ich sage das, denn wenn es reine Leistung ist, gibt es bessere Optionen mit besseren CPUs. Der Surface Laptop 3 ist mit Low-Voltage-CPUs ausgestattet, was die Leistung gewissermaßen beschränkt. Dagegen gibt es Modelle von MSI, Asus und Dell mit 45-Watt-CPUs. Was die Mobilität betrifft, gibt es sogar Modelle mit einem Gewicht von ca. 1,5 kg, die eine bessere Leistung als das Surface 3 bieten. Möglicherweise sind diese jedoch etwas teurer.

Was würde ich wählen? Nun, ich bin unentschlossen. Mein Herz schlägt für die Asus Zenbook Pro Duo 14 Serie. Nicht weil es im Grunde die gleiche Konfiguration hat wie Surface Laptop 3 Modelle, sondern weil sie sich durch seinen zweiten Bildschirm unterscheidet. Ansonsten hängt alles von ihrem Geschmack ab. Das Surface Laptop 3 ist ein Premium-Gerät und wird Ihre Erwartungen erfüllen.

Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.
