Mobiler Arbeitsplatz. Lenovos ThinkPads der W-Serie sind reinrassige Profigeräte, die sich vor allem in grafik- und rechenintensiven Geschäftsfeldern einen enorm guten Ruf erarbeitet haben. Das ThinkPad W520 ist nun die aktuelle Ausbaustufe der 15,6“ Klasse und soll Tradition mit technischem Fortschritt in Einklang bringen. Wie gut das gelingt, haben wir ausführlich getestet.

Archive.org versionLenovo hat mit dem aktuellen ThinkPad W520 eine wirklich mobile Workstation geschaffen, die ein breites Spektrum an denkbaren Aufgaben mühelos bewältigen kann. Das Testgewicht liegt mit 2,7 kg inklusive 94 Wh Akku kaum über der regulären Consumer- Multimediafraktion und auch die Ausmaße sind für eine Workstation angenehm zurückhaltend.

It offers some superb performance thanks to its quad core processor yet still manages some excellent running times. Graphics professionals will also want to look into the upgraded IPS display and color calibrator that is one of the best on the market for color accuracy.

It provides great all-over performance with its quad-core i7 processor, NVIDIA Quadro 2000M graphics, and 8GB DDR3 RAM. The 95% color gamut FHD display is easily conducive to professionals in the graphics arts or similar industry. It also has a wide range of ports and features, such as the two HighSpeed 3.0 USB ports and the Pantone huey PRO color calibration system. We did not feel as though the complaints we did have about the workstation were deal breakers in the least bit. For those in need of a powerful workstation, this system should be a definite option.

The sound could also be better. Still, if you're looking for a workstation that can plow through any task, the ThinkPad W520 is a solid choice.

EN→DE Archive.org versionI didn’t think the Lenovo ThinkPad W520 would be much of an improvement. It’s the same keyboard, chassis, screen, etc. as the ThinkPad W510. But the beauty is below the surface and in this case, the Sandy Bridge chipset offers much better performance while managing energy use much more efficiently. You’ll certainly want to watch for more scientific testing by the professional review blogs and organizations but it sure looks like a super machine for your consideration. I look forward to seeing how it fairs against the competition in the shootouts. Until then, buy with confidence. This is a sweet machine ready to do some hard work. NVIDIA Quadro 2000M: Mobile Mittelklasse Workstation Grafikkarte basierend auf die Fermi Generation. Der 128 Bit DDR3 Grafikspeicher könnte jedoch zum Flaschenhals werden.
Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.

15 Zoll Display-Varianten sind der Standard und werden für mehr als die Hälfte aller Notebooks verwendet.
Der Grund der Beliebtheit mittelgrosser Displays ist, dass diese Größe einigermaßen augenschonend ist, hohe Auflösungen oftmals erlaubt und damit Detailreichtum am Bildschirm bietet und dennoch nicht allzu viel Strom verbraucht und die Geräte noch halbwegs kompakt sein können - also schlicht der Standard-Kompromiss.

Mit diesem Gewicht ist ein Laptop eher schwerer als der Durchschnitt. Geräte in diesem Bereich glänzen eher mit Bildschirmgröße und Leistung als mit Mobilität.

Ab 2004 war die Firma der größte Laptop-Hersteller Chinas und nach der Übernahme der PC-Sparte von IBM im Jahr 2005 der viertgrößte weltweit. Neben Desktops und Notebooks stellt das Unternehmen Monitore, Beamer, Server etc her und hat sich auf die Entwicklung, Herstellung und Vermarktung von Unterhaltungselektronik, Personalcomputern, Software, Unternehmenslösungen und damit verbundenen Dienstleistungen spezialisiert.
Im Jahr 2016 belegte das Unternehmen weltweit den ersten Platz bei den Computerverkäufen. Auch 2023 hatte es ihn noch inne bei ca 23% Weltmarktanteil. Wichtige Produktreihen sind Thinkpad, Legion und Ideapad.
2011 wurde die Mehrheit der Medion AG übernommen, einem europäischen Computer-Hardware-Hersteller. 2014 wurde Motorola Mobility gekauft, wodurch Lenovo einen Schub am Smartphone-Markt erreichte.
81.2%: Diese Bewertung ist leicht überdurchschnittlich, es gibt etwas mehr Geräte mit schlechteren Beurteilungen. Klare Kaufempfehlungen sehen aber anders aus.
