Lenovo IdeaPad Y900
Das Lenovo Ideapad Y900 richtet sich an mobile Gamer und berücksichtigt Leistung sowie Portabilität. Es kombiniert die Mobilität eines Laptops mit der Leistung der neuesten Intel Prozessoren und einer eigenständigen Grafikkarte, sodass sich User in Games versenken können. Das Ideapad Y900 hat ein schwarze Aluminium-Gehäuse mit subtiler Schraffierung und einem Y an der Rückseite, das die Firma als Markenzeichen für seine Gaming-Produkte gewählt hat. Der Laptop ist mit der neuesten, mobilen High-End-GPU, der GeForce 980M ausgestattet. Er wird durch einen Intel Core i7 Prozessor der sechsten Generation angetrieben und unterstützt bis zu 64 GB DDR4 RAM. Zwar bietet das Y900 damit auch nicht mehr als andere Gaming-Laptops, kann jedoch wenigstens mit der Konkurrenz mithalten. Zudem inkludiert Lenovo ein software-basiertes Overclocking, welches CPU- und RAM-Takt erhöht, wenn der "Turbo"-Button gedrückt wird. Der entspiegelte 17,3 Zoll große IPS-Bildschirm löst entweder in 1920 x 1080 oder 3840 x 2160 Pixeln auf. Zudem verfügt die Tastatur über ein konfigurierbares Hintergrundlicht, welches es dem User ermöglicht, einen Regenbogen an Farben jeder Taste zuzuweisen. Die konfigurierbare Beleuchtung erstreckt sich auch über andere Teile des Laptops wie entlang des Umfangs des Trackpads, ein Streifen oberhalb des Lautsprecherbalkens und das Y-Logo am Bildschirmdeckel. Das Soundsystem besteht aus zwei Zwei-Watt-JBL-Lautsprecher plus einen Subwoofer. Zudem hat sich Lenovo mit Dolby zusammengeschlossen, um ein Enhanced-Surround-Sound-System herzustellen. While most of its competitors are using soft-touch matte plastic and metal base (or fiberglass like the Predator 17), Lenovo has resided to the brushed aluminum casing. It surely adds to the overall weight surpassing its competitors, but it sure hell feels rigid and solid. The interior uses rough rubberized finish making it durable and comfortable. Also, the keyboard is mechanical with really good key ergonomics and placement making it a much more desirable choice compared to other models on the market. Unfortunately, though, the anti-ghosting feature that the G752 has, isn’t present here, but probably only big gaming enthusiasts will notice. As for the touchpad, it just feels too Y700-ish. While it’s good enough for a mid-range gaming notebook, it just doesn’t deliver for the higher-end class – it’s stiff and jumpy at times.

It falls into the same price category ($1 999 starting price) as the ASUS ROG G752 and Acer Predator 17 holding a few selling points over them but fails to deliver in some cases. For starters, the build quality and design resemble the new Y700 and that’s a good thing. While most of its competitors are using soft-touch matte plastic and metal base (or fiberglass like the Predator 17), Lenovo has resided to the brushed aluminum casing. It surely adds to the overall weight surpassing its competitors, but it sure hell feels rigid and solid. The interior uses rough rubberized finish making it durable and comfortable. Also, the keyboard is mechanical with really good key ergonomics and placement making it a much more desirable choice compared to other models on the market. Unfortunately, though, the anti-ghosting feature that the G752 has, isn’t present here, but probably only big gaming enthusiasts will notice. As for the touchpad, it just feels too Y700-ish. While it’s good enough for a mid-range gaming notebook, it just doesn’t deliver for the higher-end class – it’s stiff and jumpy at times.

Lenovo:
Lenovo („Le“ vom englischen legend, novo (Latein) für neu) wurde 1984 als chinesische Computerhandelsfirma gegründet. Ab 2004 war die Firma der größte Laptop-Hersteller Chinas und nach der Übernahme der PC-Sparte von IBM im Jahr 2005 der viertgrößte weltweit. Neben Desktops und Notebooks stellt das Unternehmen Monitore, Beamer, Server etc her und hat sich auf die Entwicklung, Herstellung und Vermarktung von Unterhaltungselektronik, Personalcomputern, Software, Unternehmenslösungen und damit verbundenen Dienstleistungen spezialisiert.
Im Jahr 2016 belegte das Unternehmen weltweit den ersten Platz bei den Computerverkäufen. Auch 2023 hatte es ihn noch inne bei ca 23% Weltmarktanteil. Wichtige Produktreihen sind Thinkpad, Legion und Ideapad.
2011 wurde die Mehrheit der Medion AG übernommen, einem europäischen Computer-Hardware-Hersteller. 2014 wurde Motorola Mobility gekauft, wodurch Lenovo einen Schub am Smartphone-Markt erreichte.
Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M: Schnelle Notebook-Grafikkarte der High-End-Klasse aus der GeForce-GTX-900M-Baureihe. Basiert auf dem Maxwell-Chip GM204.
