Überraschend stark! Die vermeintlich billige Huawei-Tochter liefert eine positive Überraschung ab. Das Honor 8 überzeugt im Praxistest mit einer ganzen Reihe an Kaufargumenten. Das deutlichste ist die ausgesprochen gute Kameraleistung. Mit Nummer 8 wollte Honor einen ganz großen Athleten in den Smartphone-Ring werfen und das ist den Chinesen zu weiten Teilen auch gelungen. Allem voran ist das tolle Design ins Feld zu führen, denn optisch ist das Honor 8 ein Hammer. Hinzu kommt die Doppel-Kamera, die bislang nur in deutlich teureren Verwandten Einzug gehalten hat. Die Cam-Leistung ist über weite Strecken hervorragend, während auch das Display und die restliche technische Ausstattung punkten kann. Zu Guter Letzt hält der starke Akku das Smartphone viele Runden im Ring und braucht auch nur kurze Verschnaufpausen, um sich komplett zu erholen.

Es gibt nur wirklich wenig bei dem Honor 8 Smartphone zu bemängeln. Eher gar nicht. Klar aufgrund des 2.5D Glasgehäuse samt Metallrahmen sieht man jeden Fingerabdruck und ja der 3.1 Standard wäre bei einem verbauten USB Type-C Port auch toll gewesen. Aber wohl kaum bei einem Preis von 399 Euro.

Das Honor 8 ist von den groben technischen Merkmalen her auf den ersten Blick ein Klon des Huawei P9 und muss sich an ihm messen lassen. Dass es nicht ganz das Niveau des edlen Bruders erreicht, liegt in den Details der Ausstattung begründet. So that's that then - Huawei may be trying to run Honor as a separate brand in some regions, but the Chinese company's design philosophy is clearly visible in the 8. A flashier P9 without the Leica branding we can certainly live with. Knowing you save €150 over the original model makes it a very attractive offer. And there weren't any major corners cut either - outside of the missing film modes and the more limited use of the monochrome sensor the Honor 8 didn't really feel inferior in any way. The glass design might be a bit too flashy for some, but others will certainly prefer it over the metal of the P9.

Externally, it's slick and can grab eyes with a few subtle design features while also feeling solid and built with high tolerances. The metal and glass protect really great internal specs that can power the phone through all of your regular tasks, with a battery that lasts all day (and then some), and you can view it all on a really top-end display. The camera, while coming up short of amazing, is great in many situations and leverages its dual sensors for neat effects and better image quality.

Modell: Das Honor 8 ist ein schönes, gut gefertigtes Smartphone, dass viele Konkurrenten übertrifft. User erhalten definitiv eine ausgezeichnete Verarbeitung und anziehende Design-Details wie eine lichtfangende Glasoberfläche mit 15 Schichten an der Rückseite des Phones. Das elegante Gerät verfügt über einen perfekt zugeschnittenen Vollmetall-Rahmen, der sich in der Hand luxuriös anfühlt. Man kann zwischen fünf verschiedenen Farben wählen: Peal-White (weiß), Sunrise-Gold (gold), Midnight-Black (schwarz), Sakura-Pink (rosa) und Sapphire-Blue (blau). Besonders Sapphire-Blue ist ein einzigartiges Angebot und lässt das Honor 8 großartig aussehen. Das Smartphone misst 145,5 x 71 x 7,5 mm und wiegt 153 g. In puncto Design hat es viel von seiner Exklusivität vom Samsung Galaxy S6 und S7, geht jedoch auch seine eigenen, einzigartigen Wege. Der Lautstärkeregler und Stromschalter in gleicher Farbe wie das Gehäuse befinden sich an der rechten Seite des Phones und sehen wirklich solide aus.

Das Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow Smartphone ist DUAL-SIM-fähig, doch User sollten beachten, dass der sekundäre SIM-Slot zur Speicherkapazitätserweiterung um bis zu 256 GB auch als microSD-Kartenleser fungiert. Daher muss man sich entscheiden, ob man den Speicher des Honor 8 erweitern oder 2 SIMs benutzen möchte. Beim Bildschirm des Honor 8 handelt es sich um ein atemberaubendes, 5,2-Zoll großes Full-HD LTPS Modell mit einer Pixeldichte von 423 PPI, das erstaunliche Übersichtlichkeit und Farbsättigung ermöglicht, welche wirklich nahe an Samsungs AMOLED-Bildschirm herankommen. An der Rückseite des Gerätes befindet sich zwei 12 MP f/2.2 Laser-Autofokus-Kameras mit Dual-LED-Blitz, die Full-HD-Aufnahmen im HDR-Modus unterstützen. Die Vorderseite beherbergt eine 8-MP-Kamera für Selfies und Video-Anrufe. Audio ist hell und laut, sodass sich ein vollständiges Multimedia-Paket ergibt. Zudem verfügt das Honor 8 über einen Fingerabdruckleser an der Rückseite, welcher fast unmittelbar funktioniert - wie bei den meisten neueren Smartphones von der Mutterfirma Huawei.

An Bord befindet sich Huaweis eigenes HiSilicon Kirin 950 Chipset mit vier 2,3 GHz Cortex-A72 und vier 1,8 GHz Cortex-A53, also insgesamt 8 Kernen. Diese sind für Gaming-Zwecke mit einer Mali-T880 MP4 GPU kombiniert. Es gibt zwei Varianten, die eine mit 3 GB RAM und 32 GB internem Speicher, die andere mit 4 GB RAM und 64 GB Speicher. Das Honor 8 bietet USB Type-C, NFC, einen Infrarot-Port,  A-GPS und einen Akku mit einer Nennkapazität von 3000 mAh für gute Akkulaufzeit. Das Honor 8 ist ein Flaggschiff-Smartphone mit vernünftigem Preis, welches mit den besser-bekannten Marken mithalten kann. Auf eine gewisse Weise ist es sogar ein Konkurrent zur Huaweis teurerem P9 Modell.
