Honor essentially took the Honor 8 as a base, enlarged it and fixed some of the flaws and shortcomings to create the Honor 8 Pro. The Honor 8 itself is a great phone and the 8 Pro is even better. The lack of 4K recording, the slippery design, battery life and many other aspects have been addressed. The audio department could still use some improvement but nonetheless, it seems to offer more value for money than the Honor 8 did. However, that precisely was the problem of the Honor 8, at least in India where it was priced much higher than it should’ve been.

Modell: Huawei hat eine Reihe von guten Smartphones unter dem eigenen Namen sowie unter der Markenbezeichnung Honor herausgebracht. Eines davon ist das Honor 8 Pro. Huawei liefert das Honor 8 Pro in einem Gehäuse aus, das sich in ein flaches VR-Headset verwandeln lässt. Der ganze Satz lässt sich ziemlich einfach zusammenbauen, doch es gibt auch Anleitungen, falls der User mit dem Selbstbau-Teil kämpft. Das 8 Pro übernimmt große Teile seines Designs vom Honor 8 des vorigen Jahres – was in Anbetracht des Namens nicht überraschen sollte. Es verfügt über abgerundete Ecken, eine prächtige Glasoberfläche an der Vorderseite, die das Licht einfängt und schlanke Abmessungen. An der Rückseite ist das dazu passende Glas allerdings verschwunden. Stattdessen gibt es eine gebürstete Metalloberfläche mit einem attraktiven Blauton. Durch das Metall ist das Phone möglicherweise weniger zerbrechlich, was für raue User praktisch ist. Das Ganz-Metall-Gehäuse wirkt fest ohne Anzeichen von Nachgeben oder Verwinden, wenn es gedrückt wird. Die Haptik ist erstklassig. Mit 6,93 mm ist es tatsächlich schlanker als ein iPhone 7 Plus. Huawei hat einen Fingerabdruckleser, den die Firma in jedem neuen Gerät verbaut. Der Scanner funktioniert hervorragend für das gesamte Phone, Apps und der benötigten Sicherheit bei Zahlungen. Die Kopfhörerbuchse, der einzige Lautsprecher und der USB-C-Port befinden sich alle samt an der Unterkante des Phones, sodass Bruchstellen und Ablenkungen an der Oberkante und den Seitenkante minimiert werden.

Die Dual-Kamera des Honor 8 Pro verfügt über zwei 12-MP-Sensoren und funktioniert genauso wie gut jene im kleineren Bruder – dem Honor 8. Der Unterschied, den das neue und leistungsstärkere Chipset mit sich bringt, ist, dass das Pro Videos in 4K aufzeichnen kann. Die Frontkamera für Selfie-Fans löst in 8 MP auf und nutzt eine f/2.0-Blende. In puncto Leistung gibt Huawei dem Honor 8 Pro alles, was es kann. Beim Chipset handelt es sich um Kirin 960, den bis jetzt stärksten SoC der Firma. Er verfügt über eine Octa-Core-CPU und 6 GB RAM sowie 64 GB internen Speicher. Die Speicherkapazität kann durch eine MicroSD-Karte erweitert werden, die den zweiten SIM-Slot besetzt. Das heißt, dass der User nicht gleichzeitig zwei SIMs und Zusatzspeicher nutzen kann. In puncto Display bietet ein 5,7-Zoll-Bildschirm viel Platz für Pixel und Honor liefert das 8 Pro mit einem 2.560 x 1.440 Panel aus, das erste in einem Honor-Phone. Photos und Videos sind detailreich und die Helligkeit ist mehr als ausreichend, um den Bildschirm auch in der Sonne ablesen zu können. In puncto Betriebssystem liefert die, durch ägaisches blau weiß inspirierte, EMUI 5.1 eine helle, und nahtlose User-Erfahrung, bei der 90 % der Merkmale des Phone maximal drei Klicks weit entfernt liegen. Zudem lernt das Honor 8 Pro ständig vom Verhalten und den Gewohnheiten des Users, sodass es immer einen Schritt voraus ist. Das Honor 8 Pro ist ein Smartphone für jene, die nicht bereit sind, mehr für ein Huawei P9 oder sogar P10 auszugeben.
