The HP Spectre x360 14 (2024) 2-in-1 is a classy operator, especially in the high-spec trim we’re reviewing here. The OLED touchscreen is responsive, the internal components have plenty of grunt, and there's a stylus in the box rather than being a costly extra. There are some excellent design touches in an otherwise conservative chassis, and despite a noticeable fan noise, it’s a superb coming together of technologies that has become the convertible laptop to beat.

The HP Spectre x360 is one cracker of a notebook that comes with a stunning 2.8K display, a great battery life, solid performance backed by Intel’s new Core Ultra processors and a bunch of quality-of-life features that make using the laptop, great fun. It really sets the tone for what a convertible, 2-in-1 laptop should be. Then there is the design and the build quality. It is simply gorgeous, especially when you touch and feel it. We also get a great keyboard and a pretty solid trackpad. The only serious downside I can think of, is the lack of ports, but then HP does throw in a dongle of sorts that has some extra ports. Is it too expensive? Well, it certainly is pricey, but I wouldn’t call it overpriced. The tonnes of lifestyle features that you get and the overall quality of the laptop more than make-up for any premium that HP might be charging for it.

It's unclear how much life is left in the convertible PC format, but I wouldn't be surprised if HP ends up being one of the last companies still giving it a shot. The Spectre x360 14 is one of the best laptops you can buy today — the fact that it can also be flipped around in multiple orientations is just icing on the cake.

HP’s Spectre x360 14 is a great option if you want a 14-inch Windows 2-in-1 and plan to make full use of its 2-in-1 versatility. It’s thin, light, portable, well-built, and ships with a standard touchscreen and active stylus. The Spectre x360 also benefits from a beautiful OLED display, strong performance, and a large touchpad, and a top-tier webcam. It’s not inexpensive and has a few downsides, like limited connectivity and a merely good keyboard, but it’s on-target for shoppers who still want to live the Windows 2-in-1 dream.

For 2024 HP has refreshed their premium Spectre x360 14” convertible Ultrabook with a striking 2.8K OLED display and Intel 14th gen Meteor Lake CPUs. The aluminum-clad laptop is available in 3 colors, has 360 degree hinges for clamshell, tablet and tent mode use and a tactile keyboard with large trackpad. It’s available with Core Ultra 5 and Core Ultra 7 processors with Intel Arc integrated graphics and up to 32GB RAM. A pen is included. It has Thunderbolt 4 ports and a USB-A port.

Overall, the HP Spectre x360 2024 ticks all the boxes for a premium thin-and-light laptop. It excels in casual everyday use and can handle some power-and-graphics-intensive tasks. Intel Evo certification ensures quick boot times, instant resume function, extended on-battery time, and enhanced data transfer rates. However, it is worth noting that this laptop is not intended for gaming or content creation, although it can manage casual gaming and multimedia editing. For those tasks, a laptop with discrete graphics may be more suitable.

I’ve been disappointed in Windows laptops lately. They’ve been excelling in many different areas (e.g., webcam quality and AI performance), but for some reason, they can’t quite nail it in the power-efficiency arena. The HP Spectre x360 14 seems to finally cover all the bases necessary for a satisfying Windows experience, including decent battery life, smooth performance, crisp sound, and more. If you’re looking for a Windows laptop, the HP Spectre x360 14 is the best you can get.

A frequent traveller, over the years I have realised that a computer that I can take with me everywhere is my idea of an ideal laptop. While my iPhone 13 mini can perform many tasks on the go, there is a clear distinction between how I view my phone and a laptop. I turn to a laptop for tasks such as writing, editing, watching Netflix, editing photos, and reading ebooks. Until recently, I had been using a larger computer that was not only ageing but also difficult to carry on my trips due to its weight. So, I decided it was time to switch to the HP Spectre x360 14 for a few days and see if my experience would be any different using a premium 2-in-1 laptop.

It's early in the year, and already HP's 2024 Spectre x360 is in the running for one of my favorite laptops of the year. It checks off so many boxes for me: great display, bassy speakers, solid performance, and even the keyboard is great. The larger size compared to the previous model allows for bigger keycaps. The caps combined with the laptop's durable construction results in a comfortable typing experience. Prices for the 2024 Spectre x360 start at $1,449.99 with multiple configurations available. The unit I reviewed was one of the higher-end models sporting the Intel Core i7 processor mentioned earlier and 2TB of storage. It costs $1,878.99.

The HP Spectre x360 14 impresses with its premium 2-in-1 design, featuring an Intel Core Ultra chip for powerful performance and a stunning 2.8K OLED display. Its elegant, gem-cut design and exceptional battery life make it highly versatile for both work and play. The laptop offers a comfortable typing experience, and efficient thermal management, and maintains a sleek, portable profile. Ideal for users seeking a blend of luxury and functionality, the Spectre x360 14 stands out as a superior choice in the convertible laptop market. In this HP Spectre x360 14 review I will talk about improvements brought in by the new Intel Core Ultra 7 chip, the laptop’s new design, and a lot of other important things. For instance, whether the 2-in-1 factor works well with the new chip or how’s the thermal performance on the laptop.

The numbers don’t lie — the HP Spectre x360 14 (2024) is a star, and a hell of a one at that. From performance to battery life, this machine is a dream. But why didn’t I give it a perfect score? Well, I wish the display performed better and that there were more ports to go around. If you’re itching for someone a little cheaper that offers a brighter display and significantly more battery life, I can only recommend the MacBook Pro 14 as a suitable substitute. Otherwise, the HP Spectre x360 14 (2024) is the perfect choice for those who want a reliable premium laptop.

The battery life is quite good. I managed two hours of processor-heavy work and gaming on a bright screen and 19 hours of surfing and word processing on a dimmed screen. That’s really good considering its high-resolution OLED screen that can often jump up to 120 Hz mode. There are longer-lasting laptops, but not many that are this slim and fast. HP also gets points for its high-quality and versatile webcam. It films up to 4K if you use HP’s own Enhanced Camera feature. It can then be accessed in other applications such as streaming or video conferencing as a virtual camera. It has features like smart light and color control, eye contact effect, de-worming, and more. These are things that are already abundant in meeting programs such as Zoom and Teams, but it would be nice to have another option. If you run the camera directly, you get at best 1440p, even then with high quality.

Overall, the HP Spectre x360 14 2-in-1 is a very attractive and capable system that has the potential to make our best Windows 11 laptop list and our best 2-in-1 laptop guide. I'm particularly impressed by the sharp 9MP webcam, several time-saving AI features and the colorful OLED display. And it's all wrapped up in a design that's lighter than the 14-inch MacBook Pro — and that's with a touch screen. The only things that give me pause right now are the relatively short rated battery life and the brightness of the display, but we'll see how it fares once we get it into the lab.

There may be questions regarding the Meteor Lake chipset’s performance and efficiency, but that’s not to say that the Spectre x360 14 is a poor performer. It’s plenty fast for all but demanding creators and offers good to great battery life. Its display and audio are excellent, and the new design is attractive and functional. There’s a lot to like about the Spectre x360 14, so I’m giving it a near-perfect rating as the best convertible 2-in-1 I’ve used. Perhaps HP will better tune the Meteor Lake chipset for improved performance and efficiency. And I question the real value of all the AI discussed in the marketing materials. But as it is, I can give the Spectre my strongest recommendation.

We wish it cost a couple of hundred bucks less, but the 2024 HP Spectre x360 14 easily repeats as an Editors' Choice award recipient. We'd like to see a few minor complaints addressed next time, like a media card slot and somewhere to store the stylus, but these aren't deal-breakers here, especially thanks to the included accessories. All told, this may be the best consumer convertible you can buy so far this year—we'll hold off on making that call until we see more Intel Core Ultra-generation 2-in-1 laptops—but either way it's an excellent choice for grab-and-go productivity and versatility.

The new HP Spectre x360 14-inch wants to make your life easier with a bunch of new AI capabilities made possible by Intel’s Core Ultra chip. This Meteor lake laptop can keep you centered in the frame during video calls, create AI-generated images and deliver privacy alerts more efficiently via its NPU. We went hands on with this Windows 11 laptop ahead of CES 2024, which starts at $1,499 and goes on sale January 8.
