Beim HP OMEN 15.6 handelt es sich um ein überzeugendes Gaming Notebook. Gefallen hat neben der hohen Verarbeitungsqualität, der stimmigen Eingabegeräte sowie auch der ansprechenden Gaming-Performance, dank des GTX 860M Grafikchips, einmal mehr das Design. Ebenso schätzen wir das Touch-Display, an das man sich schneller gewöhnt als man zuerst denken würde.

Whether you’re a CS:GO type or a WarCraft junkie, having a few programmable keys by your left hand is a feature you’re going to miss the next time you play on different machine. As we mentioned earlier, we're less impressed by the Omen 15's extra-wide trackpad, as we're not likely to use it, but we can see the appeal for various applications and usage models.

For a first gaming laptop, this is a high quality product from HP. On top of its striking chassis and decent screen, its configuration is good enough to support a wide variety of games in the screen's native resolution. The main downsides are the quality of the speakers and the rather feeble battery life, which make its price seem a little ambitious. You'll find better alternatives in the same price range from HP's competitors.

The Omen 15 has all the ingredients of a gaming laptop evolved for modern times. It's thin, lightweight, and packed with powerful components in every corner, from its "Haswell" processor and "Maxwell" GPU to its stacks of RAM and PCIe-based SSD. Our only real complaint with the configuration is that HP doesn't offer a GPU upgrade—we're already dreaming of this machine with a GTX 970M option.

We're shocked and thrilled that HP has returned to the gaming laptop scene with one of the most attractive, thin and light 15" machines on the market. The look and build quality are Voodoo level boutique. The 1080p touchscreen makes working in Windows 8.1 and touch-aware games like Civ V enjoyable, though glare is an issue.

While our decked-out unit cost $2,100, if you’re looking for a more affordable configuration, we recommend going with the $1,800 model, which includes a 512GB SSD, 8GB of RAM, and an 860M with 2GB of VRAM. It’s still a pretty good Omen.

In our tests, the HP Omen 15 proves itself as a decent option for gamers yearning to be different from the throng buying Alienware, Razer, and the like. There are still some things HP could do to improve the machine, with a better battery life and a screen with less noticeable flicker, but if you’re stuck to the desk and are lucky enough not to see the refresh rate issues (or consequently, if HP fixes them), the Omen is definitely a machine worth taking a look at.

Modell: Das schlanke, jedoch leistungsstarke HP Omen 15 beherbergt als "Gaming"-Laptop viele starke Komponenten und sieht obendrein genial aus. Unmittelbar wirkt die klassische Kombination aus elegantem schwarzen Aluminium mit roten Spritzern großartig am Omen 15. Mit weniger als 2 cm Bauhöhe gehört das Omen 12 definitiv zu den schlankeren Desktop-Replacement-Laptops. Sein Gewicht von 2,1 kg macht es portable ohne den Rücken zu sehr zu belasten.

Der Bildschirm ist ein cooler 15,6 Zoll großer Touchscreen mit LED-Hintergrundlicht und einer Auflösung von 1920 x 1080 Pixel, der mit Windows 8.1 großartig zusammenarbeitet. Bei Gaming-Laptops ist die Hardware wichtiger als Aussehen und das Omen 15 enttäuscht hier nicht. Es verfügt über eine leistungsstarke Kombination aus Intel i7 Prozessor und einer Nvidia GTX 860M Spitzengrafikkarte, die dafür gedacht ist die schönsten Spiele, die der Markt zu bieten hat, auszuführen.

8 GB RAM sind gut, doch es ist empfehlenswert auf 16 GB oder mehr aufzurüsten. Das Omen verfügt über zwei separate Lautsprecher an der Vorderseite, die Gaming mit umfassenden Surround-Sound ergänzt. Zudem ist es mit einer 256 GB SSD ausgestattet, die Daten viel schneller als konventionelle Festplatten lädt.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M: Schnelle Grafikkarte der Performance-Klasse aus der GeForce-GTX-800M-Baureihe.

Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.
