Wer sich das Pixel 3a XL zulegt, muss schlicht und ergreifend wissen, worauf er sich einlässt. Das Smartphone ist kein Premium-Gerät – aber das will es auch gar nicht sein, dafür gibt es das Google Pixel 3 XL. Ich selbst nutze ein Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro - das schlägt das Pixel 3a XL meiner Ansicht nach in beinahe jeder Hinsicht (ausgenommen im Nachtmodus) und ist dabei auch noch günstiger.

Releasing the Pixel 3a lineup halfway through its flagships' product cycle appears like a strange move, but Google admitted during its recent quarterly earnings that it's not selling as many Pixel 3s as it would like; the high-end phone market is seriously competitive. So where is the remaining growth opportunity? In markets where the Pixel either doesn't yet sell, or is too expensive. Places like India, Latin America and parts of Europe where the Pixel brand doesn't hold sway. By introducing a sub-$500 phone to those regions that promises to offer the best camera you can buy, plus three years of platform updates and security patches, feels like a pretty shrewd move. We'll just have to see if it pays off.

Coming to the final judgement, the Google 3a XL overall captures some detailed shots. The colour reproduction is quite close to the source and the sharpness is impressive in nature. The phone delivers output, which is almost identical to the Pixel 3 lineup. Using Portrait mode was a sheer delight with the Pixel 3a XL. However, it does take some noticeable amount of time in processing as compared to Pixel 3. This is mainly because of the absence of Google’s Pixel Visual Core. That said, the phone does an excellent job when it comes to the broad daylight performance, though selfie experience is not that great.

Modell: Preisgünstige Phones sind in der Smartphone-Branche normal geworden. Tatsächlich verkaufen Unternehmen mehr günstige Phones als Flagships. Google hat beschlossen, in den „Lite“-Bereich einzusteigen und eine billigere Version ihres einzigen Smartphone-Modells, des Google Pixel, einzuführen. Die Pixel 3a-Serie kostet etwa halb so viel die wie normale Pixel-Serie. Das Pixel 3a XL ist das größere der beiden Modelle. Im Gegensatz zu den üblichen preisgünstigen Smartphones senkt Google nicht den Preis durch Beibehalten einer hohen Spezifikationen und Sparen in anderen Bereichen wie dem Bildschirm und der Kamera. Das Pixel 3a geht einen anderen Weg und verwendet genau die gleiche Kamera wie das Pixel 3 XL. Daher nimmt dieses preisgünstige Smartphone bessere Fotos auf als die meisten aktuellen Flagships. Laut einige Tests ist die Bildqualität sogar besser als bei neuesten Flagships wie dem Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus und sogar dem Huawei P30 Pro. In den anderen Bereichen kommt das „a“ im Pixel 3a XL zum Vorschein. Die größte Änderungen betrifft die Größe des Telefons. Wegen des größeren Rahmens ist es etwas größer als das normale XL. Seine Abmessungen betragen 160,1 x 76,1 x 8,2 mm, während das normale Pixel nur 7,9 mm dick ist. Außerdem wird statt Glas ein Kunststoffgehäuse verwendet. Daher unterstützt dieses Phone kein kabelloses Aufladen.

Der Bildschirm schrumpfte von 6,3 Zoll beim XL auf 6 Zoll beim 3a XL. Die Auflösung des OLED-Displays verringerte sich von 1.440 x 2.960 Pixeln auf 1.080 x 2.160 Pixel. Ein weiterer großer Unterschied ist die Notch. Ob gut oder schlecht, die Notch vom Pixel 3 XL findet sich beim Pixel 3a XL nicht. Der Schutz auf dem Bildschirm ist ebenfalls unterschiedlich. Das Pixel 3 verwendet das reguläre, branchenführende Corning Gorilla Glass 5, das 3a dagegen Asahi Dragontail Glass. Wie sich das auf die Haltbarkeit auswirkt, wird sich erst weisen. Das Innenleben des Pixel 3a XL ist etwas langsamer als beim normalen Modell. Anstatt des Snapdragon 845 vom Pixel XL 3 kommt mit dem Snapdragon 670 einen Mittelklasse-Prozessor zum Einsatz. Dieser wird mit nur 4 GB RAM und 64 GB internem Speicher kombiniert. Weiterhin fehlt ein Kartensteckplatz zur Speichererweiterung. Wie bereits erwähnt, handelt es sich bei der Hauptkamera um dieselbe Weitwinkel-Kamera mit 12,2 MP und f/1.8. Hier kann sich das Pixel 3a XL von allen Mitbewerbern absetzen. Vorne befindet sich eine einfache 8-MP-Kamera, anstatt eines Dual-Kamera-Setups wie im Pixel 3. Auch in anderen Bereichen hält das Pixels 3a XL an seinem hohen Standard fest. Es verfügt über das neueste Bluetooth 5.0 und USB Type-C-Ladegerät für Fast-Charging des 3.700-mAh-Akkus. Der Fingerabdruckscanner befindet sich an der Rückseite des Telefons, die Kopfhörerbuchse an der Unterseite. Das Pixel 3a XL ist in drei Farben erhältlich: Just Black, Clearly White und Purple-ish. Das Pixel 3a XL ist das ultimative Budget-Smartphone. Zu seinem Preis schlägt es alle Konkurrenten in puncto Leistung und Kamera. Allerdings mangelt es ihm wirklich beim Aussehen. Das ältere Design mit dickem Rahmen passt nicht wirklich zu einem aktuellen Smartphone. Das Gerät ist definitiv eine Wahl, wenn man das ultimative Google-Erlebnis braucht.
