Das XPS 13 (7390) ist zunächst einmal ein extrem hochwertiges 2-in-1, das XPS-typisch durch eine tolle Verarbeitung und qualitativ hochwertige Materialien hervorsticht. Dells Kombination aus Aluminium und Kohlefaser weiß auch nach mehreren Jahren und Einsätzen bei zahlreichen XPS-Geräten zu gefallen.

After spending two weeks with the Dell XPS 13 2-in-1, I had no doubt that this is one of the best notebook computers that I’ve reviewed to date. Dell has successfully redesigned their XPS 2-in-1 and made it even more usable than ever. In terms of the machine’s usability and design, even if I had to nitpick, there just simply wasn’t anything much that’s worth complaining about. Everything just works.

Dell has made incremental improvements to its XPS notebooks in recent years and the newest XPS 13 2-in-1 is easily the best XPS convertible notebook yet. It’s a very accomplished ultraportable and convertible notebook – easily one of the best – but it faces stiff competition. If performance and design are your utmost concerns, go for the Dell XPS 13 2-in-1. But if I had to pick one to buy with my own money, I’ll go for the more practical and more value for money Spectre x360.

Having watched the Dell XPS 13 evolve over the past several years, I really thought we had reached the end of the line in terms of possible improvements. The 2019 version had a super-slim bezel, good performance at a decent price, 4K screen options, and was more of a major step forward, solving a long-time engineering problem by putting a super-tiny webcam up on top of the screen, instead of underneath it.

I like the Lenovo Yoga C930. A lot. It's one of the best premium ultraportable two-in-ones you can buy, which is saying something because the category is filled with excellent options. And if you don't care about convertibles, it's still a great choice for use as just a laptop, though you'll miss out on much of its versatility.

Not only is this Dell’s first laptop to use a 10nm CPU, but it’s the first to adopt Dell’s new 16:10 display aspect ratio and new keyboard technology. The XPS 13 2-in-1 starts at $999.99, which is very competitive, and although that model does ship with just 4 GB of non-expandable RAM, it does at least offer 256 GB of storage. Realistically customers should opt for the i5-1035G1 / 8 GB / 256 GB model which does jump the price up to $1299.99. As configured for the review unit, which is the i7-1065G7 / 16 GB / 512 GB, the price is $1699.99; but the added RAM, storage, and the top-end processor with the G7 GPU does add a lot of performance as well.

Overall, the XPS 13 2-in-1 is the computer I’ve been wanting Dell to make — more daring and interesting than the staid standard model, but still maintaining the qualities that have made the XPS 13 a perennial contender. The 2-in-1 makes no compromises when it comes to performance, is just as compact and portable as the standard XPS 13, and has a more usable display. If the low-profile keyboard doesn’t stop you in your tracks, the XPS 13 2-in-1 is the best XPS 13 to buy this year, and perhaps one of the best 13-inch laptops you can buy, full stop.

Intel Iris Plus Graphics G7 (Ice Lake 64 EU): Integrierte Grafikkarte (in Ice-Lake G7 SoCs) der Gen. 11 Architektur mit 64 EUs (Shader-Cluster). Taktet mit 300 MHz Basistakt und 1050 bzw. 1100 MHz Boost (erste Modelle). Der Ice-Lake-Chip wird im modernen 10nm Verfahren bei Intel gefertigt und soll mit 7nm bei TSMC mithalten können.

Diese Klasse ist noch durchaus fähig neueste Spiele flüssig darzustellen, nur nicht mehr mit allen Details und in hohen Auflösungen. Besonders anspruchsvolle Spiele laufen nur in minimalen Detailstufen, wodurch die grafische Qualität oft deutlich leidet. Diese Klasse ist nur noch für Gelegenheitsspieler empfehlenswert. Der Stromverbrauch von modernen Grafikkarten in dieser Klasse ist dafür geringer und erlaubt auch bessere Akkulaufzeiten.

i7-1065G7: Auf der Ice-Lake-Architektur basierender ULV-SoC (System-on-a-Chip) für schlanke Notebooks und Ultrabooks. Integriert unter anderem vier CPU-Kerne der Sunnycove Microarchitektur mit 1,3 (Basis) - 3,9 GHz und HyperThreading sowie eine starke Iris Plus G7 Grafikeinheit und wird in 10-Nanometer-Technik gefertigt.
