Dells Vostro 1310 ist derzeit das günstigste 13.3-Zoll-Notebook auf dem Markt. Es arbeitet schnell und dennoch leise. Die Ausstattung kann persönlichen Ansprüchen und Bedürfnissen angepasst werden - sogar bei der Laufzeit: Der Standard-Akku hält gut dreieinhalb Stunden durch; gegen Aufpreis sind auch über acht Stunden Netzunabhängigkeit möglich.

Mit Außergewöhnlichem kann das Vostro 1310 nicht auftrumpfen. Doch das was es kann, kann es gut. Verpackt in einem stabilen Gehäuse, ausgerüstet mit Standardfunktionen für das Office, einem spiegelfreien Display sowie einfaches Navigieren mit dem Touchpad lässt sich mit dem Notebook bequem und vor allem leise arbeiten. Und das ganze zu einem Preis von 599 Euro - ein gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis.

Trotz des überaus niedrigen Einstiegspreises von gerade einmal 350.- Euro, welcher je nach gewünschter Konfiguration aber deutlich überschritten werden kann, bietet das Dell Vostro 1310 beim verwendeten Chassis eine gute Vorstellung. Das Gehäuse in schlichter geometrischer Optik weist dank Bauteilen aus einer Magnesiumlegierung eine überaus gute Stabilität auf, was eine lange Lebensdauer des Notebooks erhoffen lässt. In dieser Hinsicht will nur der Displaydeckel in Hochglanzoptik nicht so ganz in das Konzept von Dell passen, bei dem unschöne Abnutzungserscheinungen praktisch vorprogrammiert sind. Positiv überraschen kann das Vostro 1310 auch bei den gebotenen Anschlüssen. Zwar muss man sich mit Standartports wie etwa VGA, Firewire und USB zufrieden geben, dafür bietet das Vostro gleich vier USB 2.0 Anschlüsse, die darüber hinaus, wie auch die anderen angebotenen Schnittstellen, überaus benutzerfreundlich am Gehäuse positioniert wurden. Die gebotenen Eingabegeräte unterstützen einen mobilen Office Einsatz des Vostro 1310 und lassen sich intuitiv schnell und sicher bedienen.

Wer ein preiswertes, solides Office-Notebook sucht, wird mit dem Vostro 1310 aus dem Hause Dell definitiv glücklich. Ein schlichtes Äußeres gepaart mit wenigen Besonderheiten. Von großer Sonderausstattung kann man bei einem Preis von 645 Euro auch nicht ausgehen. Wer noch mehr sparen will, fährt mit schwächerem Prozessor, weniger RAM und kleiner Festplatte sogar unter 500 Euro. Die Anwendungsleistung lässt uns weder staunen noch seufzen. Gute Ergebnisse mit dem T8100 und 2 GB RAM. Grafisch ist mit dem GMA X3100 nicht viel anzufangen. Wer auf kleine Spiele im Büro setzen will, sollte also zu der Konfiguration mit GeForce 8400M-GS greifen. Im Groben zusammengefasst haben wir ein Modell vorliegen, was vor allem in Sachen Display und Akkulaufzeit gute Werte liefert. Lediglich die allgemeine Verarbeitung mussten wir anprangern. Das 1310 ist aber durchaus ein guter Nachfolger der bisherigen Vostro-Geräte.

Looking at the Vostro 1310 as an all round laptop, you're bound to find a few things to complain about, but as a business machine, it's fairs rather well. Anyway, let's start with the shortcomings. The most annoying flaw is its tiny touchpad. Measuring just 62x38mm, it can be quite unpleasant to use, and the toucpad buttons are far from perfect, too. The mono speaker is too weak, there's no video out, and some plastic bits feel a bit flimsy and cheap, but the touchpad dwarfs all of these issues. Although we think the design is suitable for this product class, we think Dell should have done a bit more to make it look slimmer, some curved edges would have gone a long way to making the Vostro look a bit better. Although it has some shortcomings, and it's not a stylish, thin machine, it's a very sensible choice and truly offers unbeatable value for money. It's a nice piece of kit, it costs about 20 percent less than its competitors, and it deserves our Top Value award.

Last year Dell launched its small business orientated Vostro brand, but at the time its laptop line consisted entirely of repurposed Inspiron machines. This may have sufficed in the short term but if large businesses could benefit from purpose designed laptops in the Latitude range, why not small businesses as well? This was clearly the view taken by Dell and earlier this year it launched a new range of bespoke laptops for its Vostro line. Superb battery life and good performance at an affordable price make the Vostro 1310 a superb option for the small business in need of portable work horse.

Overall, the Dell Vostro 1310 is an impressive budget notebook with clean looks and solid performance. Whether you need a simple business notebook or a budget portable laptop with modest gaming capabilities, the Vostro 1310 makes an excellent choice. That said, the chassis isn't as nice as we hoped ... the edges are sharp and could be smoother or more rounded, the case feels more flimsy than the earlier Vostros, the touchpad button placement is bad, and the mono speaker does not provide a good audio experience. Still, none of these issues are "deal breakers." The other huge advantage to the Vostro line is the support, lack of bloatware, and excellent return policy. Dell will let you purchase a Vostro, use it for 30 days, and if you don't like it you can send it back for a full refund without any restocking or shipping fees. That's just amazing. In short, the Vostro 1310 is an excellent addition to the Vostro family and gives business professionals and consumers on a budget a low-cost alternative to the Dell XPS M1330.

The addition of the Dell Vostro 1310 ($1,258 direct) to the Vostro line is almost like bringing a supermodel into a team of geeks. Don't get me wrong—the other Vostros are far from underachievers, but they lack the style and the travel-friendliness that today's small-business users tend to look for. Low prices, multiple configuration options, and a "no-trialware" option should make the Dell Vostro 1310 laptop a start-up favorite.

It's no secret that we weren't that impressed by the Vostro range's debut back in 2007. While dedicated support packages and enhanced next-business-day warranties were certainly attractive extras in their own right, the hardware itself wasn't really designed for the needs of small businesses. It was, in fact, just the familiar Inspiron chassis finished in a more dour and businesslike black. For its new Vostro range, however, Dell has taken the criticisms on board and started entirely from scratch. It's a good thing too, as in addition to the usual 15.4in and 17in models - the 1510 and 1710 - Dell has added a 13.3in laptop to the range, the Vostro 1310. The 13.3in addition to Dell's recently redesigned Vostro range is an unmitigated success.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) X3100: Integrierte shared Memory Grafikkarte von Intel, die im 965GM und GL960 Chipsatz eingebaut ist. Dank voll programmierbarer Pipeline DX 10 fähig (mit Treibern seit 15.9.0.1472). Gute Performance für eine integrierte Grafikkarte, jedoch trotzdem kaum spielefähig.

3D Spiele sind auf diesen Vertretern nur in Ausnahmen spielbar, grundsätzlich sind die Grafiklösungen hierfür jedoch nicht geeignet. Office Programme und Internet surfen dürfte jedoch ohne Problem möglich sein.
